I know you didn't ask me but thought someone should answer these questions....

Does he give each new person the ability to fight of demons ? or the ability to say no to badness is it down to the believer to do this or do demons have powers that we dont ?
Each born again child has the power to stand against Satan and his minions and watch them flee,

I agree every person has a different measure of faith and even a small measure the size of a mustard seed can grow into a great tree. I loved your retelling of Moses and the 70 elders, but back to the questions.,,5 am here, sorry for the rambling,

We are each given spiritual armor. Someone quoted the verses earlier.

We each have the ability to say NO to sin. I can give you the vers that says God always gives us a way to say NO to temptation.

As for demons, we have the power of prayer. We tell God we need help and He sends His angels to get rid of the demon problem.

However we have to bandage the wounds and help tear down spiritual strongholds that war against the knowledge of God. We have to give them the Gospel and lead them to Christ.

Otherwise when we leave their presence and they don't receive the Holy spirit to protect and guide them, the demons will just return with 7 more of their demon buddies.

****

Elisha was surrounded by an unseen (invisible to most people) army of angels.

God is more powerful than most will acknowledge and He loves each and every one of His children.

If you knew that there were demons where you were sending your child, would you send protection along with them?

Are you more loving than God?

Intrestingly enough the 70 people started speaking in tongues when the spirit ascended upon them... all seventy men started to speak like prophets.. 2 of the seventy leaders had stayed in the camp and not gone to the camp ..... there in the camp the spirit came upon them and they two started speaking like prophets...

conclusion if youve been chosen for the lords works whether you want it or not you will recieve more spirit to enable you to do them works...

conclusion works are from the father bad works are from being scared and satan ....

The truth is we are not always responcible enough to carry out Good works.. Does this make us fall out of favor with God ?

Does this make us unsaved for ever for not carrying on in our duties set out by God ?..

when we look at jonha and moses The answer is no we just need to have our faith restored.

So is being scared a sin or something the enemy can get a hold of.. i PERSONALY THINK BEING SCARED is a human emotion that can encourage sin.. So being brave is where we all must lend a hand
Only thing I would note is that speaking like a prophet is different than speaking in tongues..,Paul tells us he would rather prophecies in word everyone understood than speak in tongues without and interpretor in words no one understood.

An example in the Bible of someone who tasted the power of being in the Kingdom of God but rejected Jesus afterwards is Judas Iscariot. He loved money more than Jesus. He stole from the poor. Yet he also had the power to cast out demons and heal the sick in Jesus Name just like the other Apostles. He followed Jesus but was never born again, not did he see Jesus raised from the dead.

Some people are like Judas Iscariot. They try and follow Jesus for the wrong reasons.

Paul calls them wolves in sheep's clothing and clouds without rain. He warns us that they seek to fleece us of our money and teach us false doctrines that lead us away from God.

This is a general comment on the world, I am NOT thinking of anyone in this thread when I remind people of what Paul warns us of,.,,so don't take those comments personally and get offended.

My point is. We should all strive to learn God's truth and prayfully learn to discern good from evil so that we may be mature and firmly rooted in Christ. We need to all grow up and not be tossed to and fro by the winds of false doctrines, we need to learn to walk with our brothers and sisters as the Body and Bride of Christ in this lost and dying world.

Let us put aside bitterness, contention, pride and strife and seek to dwell on what is good and pleasing and edifying to the building up of one another in faith and love and truth in Christ Jesus,

Anyway, hope everyone has a blessed day. Have to take my nana to the doctor. Prayers appreciated,

just saw this, and thought hey isn't grace & works like this too?

D17724_1.gif

trying to approve yourself by works is like swatting off flies - a flyswatter can't clean up the garbage at the root of the problem, in our hearts. but by the grace of God our hearts are being renewed by His Spirit - removing all the garbage from our hearts.
take away the trash and the flies die away and buzz off. but who can remove the trash from within their own hearts?
salvation is by works - a single work, the work of God, who alone redeems.

Glad you enjoyed some of my posts aerial :) Ok so from moses and jonah we can see that theese two had two of the biggest works ever layed upon a man to do..

Moses had to lead a nation to a promised land and train them for 40 years..

Jonah had to tell a nation of bad people to repent..

Both where given spirit big enough and faith strong enough to perform the task... only what happened ?

Both abandoned there faith for being fed up or scared..

Moses pleaded with God to kill him coz he couldnt cope with task.. was his faith enough here baring in mind he had recieved spirit strong enough to deal with it ?

Jonah same thing but diffrent emotions caused him to flee being scared...was his faith enough here ..

Moses spirit that was given to moses was so strong it could be devided bewtween 70 men.. but yet he fell short by asking God to kill him..

So was there faith eneough and does faith alone save ?

or did they both need something else besides there faith ?

after recieving the spirit the sventy elders then started speaking like prophets.. i WOULD CALL THAT SPEAKING IN TONGUES which ever way you look at it... from speaking normaly to speaking like a prophet is speaking like God and in tongues ... no doubt they would have been speaking Gods lauguage when they spoke like prophets which is speaking in tougnes..

However i do see your point but please quit trying to make me look bad at every oppertunity.. coz you dont know it all and nither does anyone else in this thread.. but your comment are you more loving than God is just ridiculous and bordering insanity or something a demon would make you say..

You may have knowledge of theese things however i believe we are given enough spirit to fight of there attacks but still it is not enough just like moses and jonah which you seem to think your above them coz you can fight them of all by your self.. good luck with that one..

Faith alone does not save,,,,,, if you believe this lie after reading jonah and moses then the truth is not in you and you will continue to throw out the blanklet statement faith alone saves coz you have taken Gods gift of faith for granted..

We are saved through faith (rightly understood) IN CHRIST ALONE. The word "alone" in regards to salvation through faith "in Christ alone" conveys the message that Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption "alone" and not on the merits of our works.

It is through faith "in Christ alone" (and not by the merits of our works) that we are justified on account of Christ (Romans 3:24; 5:1; 5:9); yet the faith that justifies is never alone (solitary, unfruitful, barren) if it is genuine (James 2:14-24).

Faith that "remains alone" (barren of works) cannot save you because it's not genuine faith but an empty profession of faith/dead faith (James 2:14) not to be confused with faith (rightly understood) IN CHRIST ALONE.

I wish this were true, but I have to not quench the impulse of the Spirit when I'm tempted to not respond in the Spirit to situations the way I should. If godliness was automatic, temptation would not exist.

Peter talks about "making every effort" in 2 Peter 1:5, and to "be all the more diligent" in vs.10. That seems to be in direct conflict with your belief that we do not have to purposely 'do' and that it's just an automatic response from the new creation. We certainly do have to make effort to do what's right. It's not automatic. The born again person does do that. The putting off of the deeds of the flesh in a circumcision of the heart is the sign of the covenant. If you do not have this sign, you are not in covenant with God. That's how works are required in salvation.
Good morning from sunny England... My daughter came down yesterday and was telling me how she did not like the way her sister was behaving, i was quick to join in with her about the faults of my daughter as i would of before i was saved, but the holy Spirit gently reminded me that i was not to talk bad about my daughter to her sister, nor join in with the conversation, it was the holy Spirit who was working in me, my flesh wanted to gossip and know all the details, but the holy Spirit no, you are a new creation, it is not I who is changing, it is the works of the holy Spirit who is changing me...xox...

Faith without work is dead bottom line.... however even the works of the faith is not enough to save you and even work of faith is not enough to save you or allways get every situation right first time...

Nope it is faith plus works plus Christ that saves you plus the father and plus the holy spirit..

It is not christ alone coz if it was you wouldnt make the mistakes you do.. coz he was perfect and didnt make any mistakes.. so if it was christ alone that saves you how would you make theese mistakes ?

Faith withou work is dead bottom line....
As I already explained. In James 2:14, we read of one who says-claims he has faith but has no works (to back up his claim). This is not genuine faith, but a bare profession of faith. So when James asks, "Can that faith save him?" He is saying nothing against genuine faith, but only against an empty profession of faith/dead faith.

Also, keep in mind that James is discussing the proof of faith (says-claims to have faith but has no works/I will show you my faith by my works - James 2:14-18), not the initial act of being accounted as righteous with God (Romans 4:2-3).

however even the works of the faith is not enough to save you and even work of faith is not enough to save you or allways get every situation right first time...

It's not faith plus works or faith plus something else. You are making this out to be much more complicated than it really is. Did Paul say saved through faith "plus something else" in Ephesians 2:8 or saved through faith (apart from additions or modifications?)

We are saved through faith (rightly understood) IN CHRIST ALONE (Ephesians 2:8,9). If it's not Christ alone, but Christ "plus something else" then Christ is an insufficient Savior. Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers (Romans 3:24-26). *No supplements needed.

so are you dissmissing the fact that chosen men of God given the spirit of faith so strong that even they fell short ?

It seems to me you are..

If it was christ alone that saves then surely the amount of faith that he gave moses and jonah should have been enough for them not to want to kill them selves ?

Jesus declared if you believe in me you may have eternal life... please note in this scripture he did not say you will have eternasl life no matter what..

No No No if you believe in me you will also do what i want for your self and not just all my work.. he wants the believer to bare fruits he want you to fall in favor with him by your own merits not his..

Yes Christ alone saves, and you preach a false gospel in denying it. That is a fact.

then surely the amount of faith that he gave moses and jonah should have been enough for them not to want to kill them selves ?
The above is absurd, false and ridiculous. It goes along with Gospel denying thought.
