I am sticking with the Word which became Flesh MMD. You can listen to religious man if you like.
You are not fooling me and if I wanted to listen to religious man then I would have remained a member of the Roman Catholic church and an unbeliever who was "religious" but not right with God.
Paul teaches the Gospel of Christ is where the Wrath and the Righteousness of God is revealed. That is the Old Testament. There is no other place to find these things. Only one spirit would want to erase these two things and it isn't the Spirit of Christ.
Just because Romans 1:17 says "the righteousness of God is revealed" and ends with "the just shall live by faith" and Habakkuk 2:4 says "the just shall live by faith" does not mean the Gospel of Christ that Paul preached (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) is preached in Habakkuk 2:4 and all throughout the Old Testament. Can you show me the word "Gospel" in the Old Testament? Only one spirit would want to pervert the Gospel and it isn't the Spirit of Christ (Galatians 1:6-9).
Habakkuk confirms what the Law and Prophets teach, which is the "Just shall live by Faith". It is the old Testament.
The "just shall live by faith" is true of all believers, but is not the specific "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the Gospel (Ephesians 3:6) that Paul preached. That is not preached in the Old Testament because it was still a mystery (Ephesians 3:1-9).
Duet 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God (word which became Flesh) require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:12 -- Old Testament, Old Covenant, written to
Israel. What does that have to do with the Gospel that Paul preached under the New Covenant?
This is called "FAITH" as the Faith Chapter clearly teaches. Where can we find the many examples of Faith written for our admonition? How many of the examples of faith were not from the Old Testament you reject as the "Old Covenant"?
Hebrews 11:1 - Faith
is the assurance of things hoped for, the
conviction of things not seen. Who said that I reject examples of faith? Another straw man argument. In Hebrews 11, notice in all of these occurrences that is was "by" or "out of" faith, not faith is in essence, these acts of obedience/works. Their faith was genuine and it was shown by their actions (works) so all of these works accomplished in Hebrews 11 were done "by" or "out of" faith, but those works are not the essence of faith, but are the evidence (fruit) of faith. That is absolutely critical to understand! We are saved through faith at it's origin and not at some time later, based on the merit of works. Faith is the root of salvation and works which follow are the fruit. No fruit at all demonstrates there is no root.
Where does Paul say he teaches from?
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy,
so worship I the God of my fathers,
believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
and again;
Acts 26:
20 But shewed
first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea,
and then to the Gentiles, that
they (Jew and Gentile) should repent and turn to God,
and do works meet for repentance.
And where does he find this information?
22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day,
witnessing both to small and great,
saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That
Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should
shew light unto
the people,
and to the Gentiles.
This is the Good News of the Gospel of Christ that Paul taught. Not what the Catholic church or her daughters preach, but the true Gospel of Christ.
Just because it was prophesied in the Old Testament that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles (Acts 26:23) does not mean the Gospel that Paul preached in Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 3:1-9 was preached in the Old Testament. The Gospel that came by revelation to Paul from Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12) was still a mystery.
In Matthew 16:15, Jesus Christ asked His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Now Peter had no clue that Jesus Christ would be crucified and resurrected. He only believed that Jesus was the Messiah at this time. This is obvious when, only moments later, Peter rebukes Jesus Christ for saying he will be killed, and be raised again the third day" (Matthew 16:21). In verse 22,
"..Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”
Before his death, Jesus told the twelve that he had to die and that he would rise on the third day. Looking back upon this passage we see this as Jesus speaking of an event that would change the history of the world. However, it is unquestionable that the disciples were
ignorant of its meaning.
“Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem,…
And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. – Luke 18:31-34. hmm... that's strange if the Gospel that came through a revelation of Jesus Christ to Paul and was a mystery prior to that was being preached from the roof tops in the Old Testament or even in the New Testament, prior to the death of Jesus. *This is where you need to RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH.
After his crucifixion, instead of anxiously waiting his resurrection, the apostles were still ignorant, disheartened at the death of their redeemer, and did not even at first believe the testimony of his resurrection (Mark 16:14, Luke 24:19-24).
It was not until after his resurrection that Jesus appeared to the apostles and
opened their understanding (Luke 24:44-47).
Paul has just told you it is what man calls the Old Testament. Can you accept it?
I can accept the Old Testament, but I cannot accept mixing the Old Covenant with the New Covenant. Can you accept Ephesians 3:1-9?
Luke 24:
25 Then he said unto them, O fools,
and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them
in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (Gospel of Christ, Old Testament) You preach a different Gospel MMD, one that rejects the Word which became Flesh, and creates another Gospel, therefore we have a disagreement, much like Jesus and the Pharisees which also created a "different doctrine" from the Commandments of Men, and not from God.
I actually believe all that the prophets have spoken and I am NOT preaching a different Gospel but am preaching the Gospel that Paul preached (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) but sadly, you are preaching a different gospel of salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works," just like SDA's and other modern day Judaizers/misguided teachers of the law.
You also preach falsehoods about the New Covenant.
The Word which became Flesh tells us in His Gospel.
It's you who preaches falsehoods about the New Covenant and about the Gospel. It also appears that you confuse the Gospel that Paul preached with everything that is written in the 4 Gospel accounts - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. LoveGodForever made the same mistake. He basically just labeled everything that is written in the Bible, the Gospel.
Jer.31:
33 But this
shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD:
for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Absolutely zero mention of destroying God's Instructions, changing them, amending them, replacing them with a different set of instructions, NOTHING.
Amen to Jeremiah 31:33-34, but I can see that you still have not made the transition to the New Covenant and seem to believe that the entire Mosaic law is written in our hearts and nothing has changed from the Old Covenant in spite of Hebrews 8:13.
Since the entire old covenant law was nailed to the cross, does this leave us with no moral direction? Absolutely not. He abolished the old covenant to "put legally into place" the New Covenant (2 Corinthians 3:6-9; Hebrews 8:6-13). The life of discipleship flows out of the New Command, to love one another as He loved us (John 13:34), which Paul refers to as the "law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). Love fulfills the law (Romans 13:8-10). Out of this single command comes other commands, including references for the moral aspect of 9 of the 10 commandments are reiterated under the New Covenant, yet the command to keep the Sabbath day is
not binding on Christians under the New Covenant.
1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - Acts 14:15
2. You shall make no idols. - 1 John 5:21
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. - James 5:12
4. Keep the Sabbath day holy. -
Not binding on the Church - Colossians 2:16-17
5. Honor your father and your mother. - Ephesians 6:1-2
6. You shall not murder. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 John 3:15
7. You shall not commit adultery. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
8. You shall not steal. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 4:28
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - Romans 13:9-10; Colossians 3:9-10
10. You shall not covet. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 5:3
