I am happy for all comments and posts here. It showed me what I expected that we are not on the same line about flirting.

It also changed my view on what it is to be fake and what is real. A shy person is more social on the net without being afraid of blushing. A person with a stutter can feel free to be the true self. I can show who I am without people getting blinded by my chair. So what is real and what is fake? In one way we might be more real online than in the real world.
There is an element of truth to what you have said. Online you can be less intimidated as all you are presenting are your words, and not your physical appearance, quirks or other perceived flaws. To your own self be true. No, I didn't just make that up. :)

In real life, I'm painfully shy and self-conscious and probably wouldn't want to say a word to any of you face to face. Nothing personal, it's just how I am outside of the Internet. :)
I'm kind of shy too and an introvert. It is much easier to transcribed my thoughts than actual talking because I have the time to think and react and consider what I am writing. Or chose to be silent and not react. I'm not too self-conscious though and generally have a favorable opinion of myself. You probably would say a word or two if you were made to feel comfortable and at ease with the one conversing with you. I will say a prayer for you for God to improve your self-esteem.

Going back to the Lord's fluency in heart language, there are many times I do have to ask Him to explain a person to me. And you should hear the things He says about the pious; cracks me up.
I talk to God al day long. He's a funny guy that's for sho. :)

Wow, interesting thread! I've been reading some responses and stuff, but really don't know what to post...I'll just answer a few of your questions :)

Do you act like the true you online?

Yes. This is me, but I am much less reserved online. I say things online that I would hesitate to say in a conversation, because online I have more time to think about them and I can proof-read before I post. In "real life" I hesitate to say some things. Words can be extremely hurtful--especially when you can't stop to mull over them. That's the only difference I can think of. Except that I use this face all the time on CC :)p) And I never stick my tongue out when I am talking face-to-face. It shows sarcasm, which is otherwise very hard to bring across in print.

Have you ever been disappointed in someone not being who they say they are?

Somewhat. Had a pen pal who was a brilliant writer, but one of the most awkward conversationalists ever. But they weren't portraying a false personality, they just happened to communicate better on paper. I actually felt incredibly blessed to have them as a pen pal because I probably never could have gotten to know them on that level through conversations, and I valued their friendship very much.

Is it OK to flirt with people without any intentions of getting to know that person romantically?

Relationship wise, this is about the most hateful thing ever for me. When someone flirts with me I am hearing: I'm into you. I want to get to know you more. I want to see if we can work romantically as a couple. When people flirt just to get attention or whatever, it sends all kinds of the wrong messages. But I've been told I'm pretty sensitive to social cues and moods, so that might play into that somehow. But anyways, so we're clear the answer is NO in my book.

Thank you, I do appreciate that. It's the little things that can mean the most to a person. Just to know you thought of me and will pray for me means a lot. Thank you again. :)

Sometimes I think about how it will be in Heaven when we are free from our fallen bodies. Maybe this is how it feels like. To be souls without the physical boundaries?

I believe that we will be both spirit and physical but perhaps no real boundaries to inhibit us.

Well, I wouldn't say your not a Christian, Only you and God know for sure.
How ever I would suggest that your actions do not reflect that of a Christian,

Based on the following scripture.
Proverbs 23:19-21, and 29 - 35.

19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
2020 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
2121 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
3030 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
3131 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
3232 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
3333 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
3434 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
3535 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Plus Proverbs 31:1-7

1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
22 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
33 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
44 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
55 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
66 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
77 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

I also would suggest reading Romans 6:16

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
22 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
33 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
44 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
55 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
66 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
1st Corinthians 3;16 & 17

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1717 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1st Corinthians 9:17-20

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
1818 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
1919 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
22020 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I can tell you from scripture alone, you won't be having a beer and a smoke with God, because in heaven there will not be any sin.

I've been told I'm not a Christian cause I like beer and cigars. I'm convinced me and God will be having one together.

Firstly, this is not the Bible Discussion Forum.

Secondly, your assessment of what makes someone a Christian (or not) could use some biblical correction.

Thirdly, you're a fellow sinner, so put down that stone.

I am happy for the rescue from the BDF overtake.

We all identify ourselves as Christians, and we should give advice and counsel in a non judgmental way.

To be single and Christian is a minefield. Going to church being the odd person out never finding a partner is an ordeal. Perhaps we are not judged, but it surely feels lonely at times.

Crossing the line trying to find a partner outside church, there are thousands of traps to fall into. Especially online.

How to behave and not be hurt is difficult. How to actually find that special someone is a mystery. Should we act or sit in our chamber praying?

That's why we need the singles forum amd threads like this. As a safe haven for talking about the struggles, the doubts, frustrations and also promote hope, encouragement, knowledge and wisdom. I welcome Biblical knowledge that can be of help for us all, but I also hope we can be without judging eachother.

I can tell you from scripture alone, you won't be having a beer and a smoke with God, because in heaven there will not be any sin.
I would suggest you get to know a person before judging them on the basis of the fact they like a beer or a cigar or cigarette.
You judge that on the basis they get pissed all the time given the verses you quoted above.

You even put fornicating in the equation above and goodness knows why.

What about lying, what about gossip, what about not feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and so on.
What does Jesus judge us on?

With regards to your post about the temple of God, take time to understand the context.

3:16-17: Christians must be very careful, both in what they teach and in how they relate to one another, because the body of believers is the temple of God, the home of the Spirit of God who lives in (or among) them (cp. Eph 2:21-22), and God’s temple is holy (see 1:2). There are terrible consequences for anyone who destroys God’s temple by such things as jealousy, argumentativeness, and divisiveness (see 3:3-4).

What was Jesus 1st miracle?

With regards to Romans 6:16

Here it is

Romans 6:16
16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Shame you didn't quote that verse, but you posted below it from Romans 6 1

Romans 6:1
Chapter 6
Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

So you have come across as saying that the sin leading to death is drinking alcohol.

But

Psalms 104:14-15
14 He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
And vegetation for the service of man,
That he may bring forth food from the earth,
15 And wine that makes glad the heart of man,
Oil to make his face shine,
And bread which strengthens man's heart.

Hi Stranger, at 30 I was very shy also. I was strong and opinionated but I feared rejection or ill thoughts from others. After turning 60, I no longer cared if someone rejected me. I put my best face forward and let them accept or reject. Some will think negatively about you no matter what. I don't fear rejection anymore realizing I must answer to God for my misstatements. I will pray for you also.

Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
Jas 3:7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
Jas 3:8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Jas 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
Jas 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Jas 3:11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
Jas 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

So Stranger we will be held accountable for our words. Let's guard them with our lives.

I like this "T"

I am very open and up front with people.
You don't have to like me, because God loves me, and my life and my Potter has molded me...and I believe that it's because of the people He intends to place in my path.

Some people can't handle someone not afraid to speak their mind and be up front. They may see you as harsh when really...you're just honest.

The key I guess is to be yourself.
Get to know those around you so you know what boundaries need to be made when it comes to discussing topics. Some things you are open about may not be something someone else is comfortable discussing. Period. It's a matter of respect for others feelings.
I know I don't want to offend anyone. It's not that I care if they like me, but that I don't care to disrespect them.
So, if I offend anyone, please tell me. It could be a misunderstanding...which is easy to do through a keyboard...or it could be that I'm too much fire and you're too much water. Which leaves no spark.

Flirting. What is flirting? I may say something that would seem flirtatious and inappropriate to one person, but another person may see it as funny and they may understand my sense of humor.
It could just be a huge compliment from me to you and not meant as something silly but the way I see you.

I don't know...lol...just my thoughts!

What utter nonsense. I recall my dad, sitting in the front porch swing, cigarette in his hand, gin on his breath, and me, we were gazing at the stars and my mama would come out with some sweet tea for herself and me:) Good times...but the doctor made him stop smoking ten years ago lol.

Maybe I can join you two.
I was told the same as Tommy.

Going to hell because I smoke(d)

Yet whilst smoking and having a beer at times when on holiday or a weekend away I had the privilege of getting to know people.

I have sat twice with people whilst going outside to have a smoke and God had used me to bring back to him.
On one occasion my wife got upset as it was a weekend away. I went for a smoke and 1 hour later I went back and she was annoyed. Yet when I told her what happened she was excited. We prayed, well I say she prayed and prayed and prayed.
Eventually I had to say "I'm knackered and I need to go to sleep"

The reason I was knackered because the person was an ex con on probation, and God keep telling me to press in and I'm crapping myself waiting for a crow bar in my head.

Our family for the last 7 years have gone to the same place for our holiday.

The betting odds are and have been "How long before dad starts praying for people when he goes for his beer and smoke?

I've had people seek me out asking for prayer whilst on holiday, I have had people ask does God really love me?

I'm not looking for glory here.
But what makes me very sad is that I can't feel I can give that testimony in church.

What makes my blood boil is that when people come to church with problems that manifest with addiction there is the acceptance, then it's followed with "Your sinnng because"

They don't take the time of day to walk with them.

It's no wonder why they leave through the back door.

The perception of love is soon replaced with condemnation.

Very sad indeed

Wrong. Most of what I post on my own fb is ignored. I know it will, or will likely, he ignored. I post it anyways. And I don't post a lot, either.
Are there a lot of people that Are posting for such reasons? Sure. Does the act of posting mean that? Absolutely not.

"Physical attraction is lust" wrong again. Being aware of a person's physical appearance is not lust. It's physical attraction. I can go out and see lots of attractive women. Does the mere fact that I think they're attractive mean I'm lusting after every one? No. By that logic it's impossible not to lust because we all see people with an attractive appearance. That entirely removes the person's heart, intent and thoughts from the picture. Something God places an emphasis on.

I find these two statements extremely critical and judgmental I'm such a generalized manner they become laughable. That you can presume to know the heart and motives of billions of people is nothing less than ridiculous.
Who wouldn't and couldn't pay attention to a hot avatar pic of someone such as yourself and a name of ugly?
I don't get it....?
Lol ;)

So if we're going to take the Bible literally for what it says, doesn't this say that if you're poor depressed and miserable, it's ok to go out and get drunk? Not saying that should be a way of life, but I am saying it's hard to see this scripture as anti-booze for those who are down.

I imagine we'll be able to show pure (unperverted) love. We'll be able to run to people we see afar off and fall on them and kiss their neck, and no will think, 'hmm, weird." Given, I might do this online here and there. However, don't try this at home, kiddies.
