Not so. The text in Hebrews 10:26 explicitly states, "after receiving the knowledge of the truth." Couple that with verse 29.
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
How is receiving the knowledge of the Truth the same as receiving the Truth, which is Jesus Christ?

These people heard the Truth but rejected Him. They are in worse shape than someone who doesn’t have the knowledge.

Amen! They drew back to perdition and did not believe to the saving of the soul. (Hebrews 10:39)

FACTS are that Salvation cant be EARNED by works because:

- God does not OWE anyone salvation
- God requires ABSOLUTE PERFECTION to keep the law and this is impossible for everyone who is not named THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
- God is not about to SHARE His glory with NO ONE (Isaiah 42:8), even the prophets and apostles of God had nothing to boast about
- God is not IMPRESSED by our works because more often than not, the motive is SELF-EXALTATION, while claiming "I do it for God"
- God gives grace to the HUMBLE and RESISTS the proud, and we know who the proud are, IM LOOKING AT YOU CATHOLICS with your FAKE HUMBLENESS. I come from the mean streets thats not gonna work on me!

Amen, well said.

Crazy how often people will use verses which directly oppose the message they push.

I know a common verse I have seen miss - used is a snippit from where the woman was caught in adultery and brought before Jesus..... The legalists will point the the phrase "Go and sin no more" as a command which her salvation rests upon.

When in reality Jesus said He did not condemn her, then gave her proper intruction as a righteous God and loving Lord.

Hebrews 10 does a fantastic job showing how it is in Christ we trust.... but people wearing thick goggles seem to argue differently....

Sanctified in this context simply means they were set apart. In this case they were sanctified because they were given the Truth.

The whole nation of Israel was "Sanctified" or set apart, for the Lord. But they are always referred to as Children of Israel, or children of Abraham, or God's PEOPLE. I can't find an instance where the people of Israel are referred to as the CHILDREN of God. THEY, had the Scriptures and Prophets and revelations, yet many did not believe, yet they were ALL collectively sanctified (set apart) by the Lord.

The passage in HEBREWS does NOT say they received the Truth. JESUS, is the Way the TRUTH, and the Life. It says they received the KNOWLEDGE of the Truth. Hence they bear greater responsibility as being HEBREW, being SANCTIFIED, having the Holy Scriptures, and the KNOWLEDGE of Jesus Christ!

They REJECTED Him and wanted to go back to sacrificing animals to atone for their sin. TRULY trampling the Blood Sacrifice of Christ and the Spirit of Grace.

NOWHERE, in that passage does it say they were born again believing Children of God. You are inferring that.

Good on ya Melach. Stay away from the wine, vodka, spirits and anything else you may drink and stick to the milk, tea, coffee, water and anything else that won't do damage.

Verse 26 also has another thing that might of escaped our notice. The writer through the Holy Spirit includes himself in the admonition.

Heb 10:26 For if WE sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

As he continues in this admonition, verse 29 states they, those who sinned willfuly after receiving the knowledge of the truth. These people were sanctified but if they sinned willfuly they counted the blood of the covenant an unholy thing and done despite unto the Spirit of Grace.

Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Then the writer through the Holy Spirit continues to speak to these who are sanctified and confirms that they have been illuminated

Heb 10:32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

Then in verse 35 the writer exhorts these illuminated that are sanctified not to cast away their confidence.

Heb 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

Then the writer admonishes them that they must not draw back. They can't draw back if they were not a place to draw back from in the first.

Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Then exhorts them and himself by saying we are not them who draw back but them who believe to the saving of the soul.

Heb 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Some people WANT to believe that they can lose their salvation, no longer be a Child of God, and be tossed into hell.

This is why the nagging question remains whether they trust in Christ, or themselves, to stay saved.

Keep in mind you don't know me and I don't think those things that you slander me with. And I see you can't address the points of the post either. Have a nice day.

Why would some want to believe they can lose their salvation?

anyone can go through your posts and see what you say. I am not being dishonest about what you post.

and, yes, I cannot tell what you or anyone else thinks, but I can read what you say.

the points of the post are not as important as understanding what the poster seems to believe.

your overarching beliefs frame how you see Scripture.

when one has a belief system they overlay over Scripture, instead of letting Scripture BE the belief system, as you do, then I think those interacting with you should know that .

I agree they are saved, the entire letter makes no sense otherwise.

However that being said, this in no way is speaking about hell, or loosing salvation .... I doubt you are open but if you are I will elaborate.

Hebrews is an amazing book, one really has to grasp the style of the author though... and then Holy Spirit will show you so much.:)
