That's what people say when they don't like what a verse says. Having chosen us in HIM before the foundation of the world means the same by itself that it means when read in the longest sentence in the Bible. It means God chose us in Him before the foundation of the world. Paul is not using double talk.

You don't like what it says, so you change "having chosen us in Him" to "having chosen our blessings in Him". That is worse than eisegesis. That is changing words. The word "US" is in every text and every translation, but you EXCLUDE IT. That's a scary thing.
Really? Do you ever speak to the Jehovah's_Witnesses? Ask them about Col 1 .15 ? And ask a mormon about 1cor 15.29 . A Catholic about who the rock is ? And how we should eat Jesus and drink him .

Why does he do this and you don’t? Because he recognizes the word “according” which takes the context back to verse three. I’ve noticed every time you quote the verse you leave that word out. Why? Why do you leave that word out? Don’t you believe every word of God is important? Or do you know that one word destroys your theology?
I may leave a word out because I am quoting the verse from memory.

According to merely means "in accordance with". God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus, according to (in accordance with the fact of) Having chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. The word according to does not change the meaning of Having CHOSEN US. It does not magically change the words "chosen us" to "chosen our blessings'" That is an absurd proposition you both are making.

I keep answering the same objections over and over again. Please read the posts.

Not even related to the passage in question. Nothing in Ephesians 1 magically changes "Chose us" INTO "chose our blessings" And nothing in Ephesians 1 changes Chose us before the foundation of the world INTO chose us when we got saved. Except in your mind and in John 14:6's mind. Show me the words that MAGICALLY change "chose us before the foundation of the word" to something else. The word According? Doesn't change a thing. It just means that ONE ACTION IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANOTHER. ie, GOD blessing us with every spiritual blessing is IN ACCORDANCE with the fact that HE CHOSE US IN HIM BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

IT only means ONE THING. So do you believe in it or not? If you don't, you are trusting in YOUR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, rather than Christ's righteousness.
Do you have some verses to discuss? When I asked you about if you believed in total inability from birth that was specific .

Well were waiting for what you believe Paul is telling these saved Christians about ? You keep avoiding the explanation. Do you hold to the Calvinist interpretation of the verse ?

LOOK AT THE NAME OF THE THREAD.

Do you believe in God's Foreknowledge of us?

If we were chosen before the foundation of the world, which Ephesians 1 clearly states, and if that choice is based on foreknowledge, as 2 Peter states, then it follows that God foreknew us before the foundation of the world.

That argument is airtight, buddy.

From when ?From the bible I can see that Jesus existed with the Father in eternity past . And the Holy Spirit. I know a little about what the Gnostics taught on these matters .

a. Election is based on foreknowledge
b. God chose (elected)in Him before the foundation of the world.
c. Therefore, God foreknew us before the foundation of the world.

PS. it is you who add to scripture. You add the words "as sons" to the verse that says "now that you are known of God". That is adding to the word of God.

Elected for what ? to do what ? Its always to do something or purpose .
isa 1¶Behold my servant whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

So to be clear . Are you saying you were personally chosen in him to be saved later
The same verse answers your question. Read the rest of the verse.
So Jesus was chosen to be saved before the foundation of the world , predestinated to be adopted ?

That's your problem right there. You don't know how to identify the direct object of a verb. I suggest you brush up on grammatical syntax.
