Are you telling me that the Holy Spirit is not active today, not active in the full power of God?

Are you saying that the Holy Spirit does not intervene in people's lives today?

Are you saying that the devil is not alive and active today?

You obviously don't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit or the devil himself.

Have you ever heard prophecy?

Do you ever receive wisdom or knowledge directly from the Holy Spirit?

What kind of clinical, barren, empty, church do you attend?
A. The Holy Spirit is active today. Not sure what you mean by "full power of God"? Sounds purposely vague.
B. The Holy Spirit does intervene in people's lives today. I believe He has intervened for me as well.
C. The devil is most certainly alive and active today.
D. I see you put an assertion in the middle. A wrong assertion since I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and the devil himself.
E. Yes many times...in the Word of God only not from the lips of modern men and women. Can you say the same?
F. My wisdom and knowledge comes from the Word of God only. Can you say the same?
G. I can see you are not above asking loaded questions but I will answer. I attend a church that searches the scriptures for answers and not from self-proclaimed prophets. Can you say the same?

What in my post did I write that would illicit such a strong response???

I have proclaimed my belief in the Jesus of the Bible since a teenager. I have never seen a physical supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit in my life yet I believe. Can you say the same?

I have no tangible evidence to prove my faith. I believe in the power of the Word of God that builds faith and proves His existence.

I have lived and continue to live by faith only and not sight. Can you say the same?

A strong response and perhaps not strong enough.

Here is what you wrote.

F. My wisdom and knowledge comes from the Word of God only. Can you say the same?

No it does not!

You openly deny the power of the Holy Spirit to equip your church for service.

What do you think the ministries and gifts of the Holy Spirit are for?

Your rejecting the apostles Paul's instruction and forbidding speaking in tongues!

1 Corinthians 14:39
Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.

I will repeat what I wrote earlier; here is what you stated.

F. My wisdom and knowledge comes from the Word of God only

No they do not for you have (in print) rejected the apostles teaching in the word.

How do you do that?

Say you believe the word (what is written) then deny the word (what is written) at the same time?

1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.

My 2 cents worth here ----

Folks ---you do not need any degrees to Preach ---Teach God's word -----all that is Needed is to first come to understand that you are a Sinner in need of a Saviour --and Accept God the Father's drawing to change your hardened heart to a soft heart which accepts His Gospel and inbirths the right faith in you to receive His free Graced Gift of Salvation so the Holy Spirit indwells you -----

All the Degrees given both theological and otherwise in this physical world are for this Physical world to get employment in this physical world ----cause that is the way this world works -----

All the Seminary training ---the University theological training cannot and will not give you the Spiritual insight needed to discern what Spiritual lessons are in Scripture -----only the indwelling of the Holy spirit can do that ----and that is God's Graced free gift to us --when we receive Jesus in our hearts ---

So all their training and degrees are in place for bragging rights when they apply for a job in this world ---but it won't help them with Spiritual Discernment ----and rightly dividing the Word of God ---------no man made school can give you that ------only having the indwelling Holy Spirit can do that -----

Here is the thing with Seminary Schools and Theological Universities -----all they can give you is practical training in the History of the Bible ---if the teachers are not Born Again and I would say 95% are not true believers ----then they are teaching from their worldly intellect -----

AI Overview

Different religious traditions have distinct seminary schools dedicated to training religious leaders. Roman Catholic, Orthodox Christian, and various Protestant denominations (e.g., Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist) all have their own seminary systems. These schools often focus on the specific theological and practical training relevant to their respective traditions.

I say --here lies the problem with Seminary Schools etc ---all teaching what they see and think ---not what God sees and thinks
That is a pretty bold claim.

I do agree that the scriptures are spiritual insights. That we must have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to truly understand and divide the word of God. However, I do not think that degrees are pointless - I think we must be careful. While I do not think they are required to teach nor are they required to do the will and purpose of God, I believe that if you are directed God has a purpose for it. I do believe that there is crucial training beneficial to the body of Christ in seminary. I also believe that by learning, we are able to communicate things that the average Christian does not know - in a good way, not boastful - such as Church history, understanding what, why, and where our beliefs originated from. I think those are important things and should not be something we put down or shy away from. We should not look down on people who decide to go to theological school nor should we judge those who preach without a degree. Some are doing it for a reason.

Wrong -----you are to be Of ONE MIND --NOT AN OPEN MIND

Philippians 2:2
New International Version
then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

1 Peter 3:8 ESV
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind,

1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Wrong again -----no sinners seeks God's word --Period =====God the Father seeks us ------

The verse, John 6:44, states, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him."

This verse emphasizes that the initial step of coming to Jesus is enabled by God the Father drawing individuals to him.

It highlights that faith and belief in Jesus are not solely human choices but are influenced by God's initiative.

i say ----God the Changes the heart of a person ----we all have Hardened hearts towards God until God the Father Draws the person and that person accepts God Drawing then God the Father Changes the Hardened Heart of the person to a heart that can accept the Gospel and then when they read the Gospel God's Faith is inbirthed in them and only then can they be saved ----God's Saving Graced gift of Salvation comes Through His Saving Faith ------which comes through hearing His Word ----

Ezekiel 36:26
English Revised Version
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

From Strong's Concordence

Ezekiel reverses the polarity in the new-covenant promise: “I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26), not celebrating weakness but promising a responsive, Spirit-wrought interior.

We can only be of one mind/heart if our mind/heart is open to learning GW (Matt. 4:4, 13:14-15, Eph. 4:11-24).

The Bereans did not search out esoteric knowledge when checking the truthfulness of Paul's teachings and neither should we.

You believe that you have special knowledge given to you supernaturally, I do not believe you. I will stick with the Word of God which does not change. Unlike the teachings of the so-called prophets of today that change with the wind and conflict with scripture.

I have met many people who claim special knowledge or messages from God. They are usually rather emotional and ignorant of the scriptures that they conflict with.

You are no different.

I do not think that degrees are pointless

Degrees are important in this world as the more degrees you have the better the job ------worldly

When you pass from this world ---your degrees will not help you earn favor with God -----nor will your degrees give you the Spiritual meaning of what the Scripture is saying ------

I believe that if you are directed God has a purpose for it.

Question for you =====
Why would God direct a person to get degrees in this world -----if God wanted you to have a job that required Degrees --God Himself would equip you with all the degrees needed -----the knowledge and Wisdom ---the instructions ----and any other thing you needed to get the job and be successful -----

God told Noah --how to build the Ark ---right down to every detail --Noah had no clue no education on how to build the Ark ---he was directed by God -------God told Moses how to build the first tabernacle right down to every detail

If God wants you in a position that requires degrees --He will provide you with the Skills ---Knowledge and Wisdom ---required and He will open the door for you to get the job ---with no Worldly Degrees

We are to Trust Him ---not this world ------Moses was not an architect.and neither was Noah -----

God appointed the People and gave them the Ability ----Knowledge --Wisdom and instructions needed to get the job done -----it is the same today ----

The scriptures detailing God's instructions for the first tabernacle are primarily found in Exodus 25-31 and Exodus 35-40.

These passages describe the specific materials, dimensions, and construction methods for the tabernacle and its furnishings, as well as the priestly garments. God gave Moses these instructions on Mount Sinai, emphasizing that the tabernacle was to be built exactly as He showed Moses.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Exodus 25:
This chapter focuses on the initial instructions for the tabernacle, including the Ark of the Covenant, the table for the showbread, the lampstand, and the altar of incense. It emphasizes that the tabernacle and its furnishings were to be made according to the "pattern" shown to Moses.

  • Exodus 26:
This chapter provides detailed instructions for the curtains of the tabernacle, the goat hair tent, and the structure's overall design.

  • Exodus 27:
This chapter details the altar of burnt offering and the courtyard surrounding the tabernacle.

  • Exodus 30:
This chapter includes instructions for the altar of incense, the atonement money, the laver, and the anointing oil.

  • Exodus 31:
This chapter discusses the appointment of skilled craftsmen to build the tabernacle and its furnishings.

  • Exodus 35 - 40:
These chapters describe the actual construction of the tabernacle, including the contributions from the Israelites, the work of the artisans, and the final assembly and dedication of the tabernacle.
The detailed instructions highlight the importance of God's presence and the need for a place where He could dwell among His people. The tabernacle was a portable sanctuary, reflecting the Israelites' journey through the wilderness.

I am glad we agree that souls must have an open mind/heart in order to learn GW = HS = JC,
which is exactly what post #294 meant: "In school or not, what is needed in order for anyone to learn God's Word
is sincere seeking with an open mind, and then after learning God's requirement for salvation and satisfying that
condition by believing in Christ and receiving His Holy Spirit, for believers to continue seeking God's truth and
growing toward Christlikeness."

Open-mindedness allows GW/HS to remove confusion caused by closed-mindedness/rejection of the Gospel,
and create oneness based on agreement regarding the essential content, which content I have compiled from
Scripture to propose the following creed:

The kerygma/GRFS should be every Christian’s creed, and only belief in this crucial truth should be viewed as a test for orthodoxy or heresy. As Paul wrote in Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Conversely, judgments concerning a person’s spiritual orientation or ultimate destiny should not be made on the basis of didachaic or secondary doctrines. (If any judgment is made, it should begin with a self-examination per Matt. 7:1&5, 2Cor. 13:5-8).

A major reason many Christians throughout history have not manifested the love and unity of God’s Spirit (Eph. 4:3) as well as they should is because of failure to realize this truth. If they did, it would free them to speak honestly and fellowship without becoming unduly upset about relatively minor issues. They would receive God’s blessing as peacemakers, who draw inclusive circles around people based on the kerygma rather than denominational lines between them due to didachaic differences. Jesus prayed for spiritual unity (cf. John 17:20-23, “May they be one…”). Thus, unity regarding the Gospel is more important than accuracy regarding doctrinal details.

The normative way of stating the kerygma/GRFS in the NT is “Accept Christ Jesus as Lord” (as in 2Cor. 4:5 & Col. 2:6). The main points of Christian orthodoxy implicit in this statement can be explained or elaborated as follows:
  1. There is a/one all-loving and just Lord or God (Deut. 6:4, John 3:16, 2Thes. 1:6), who is both able (2Tim. 1:12) and willing (1Tim. 2:3-4, Ezek. 33:11) to provide all morally accountable human beings salvation or heaven—a wonderful life full of love, joy and peace forever.
  2. Human beings are selfish or sinful (Rom. 3:23, 2Tim. 3:2-4, Col. 3:5), miserable (Gal. 5:19-21), and hopeless (Eph. 2:12) or hell-bound at the judgment (Matt. 23:33 & 25:46) when they reject God’s salvation (John 3:18, Rom. 2:5-11).
  3. Jesus is God’s Messiah/Christ and incarnate Son, the way that God has chosen (John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31, Phil. 2:9-11) of providing salvation by means of his atoning death on the cross for the payment of the penalty for the sins of humanity (Rom. 3:22-25 & 5:9-11), followed by his resurrection to reign in heaven (1Cor. 15:14-28).
  4. Thus, every person who hears the NT Gospel needs to repent and accept God’s grace or justification in Jesus as Christ/Messiah the Lord or Supreme Commander (Luke 2:11, John 14:6, Acts 16:31), which means trying to obey His commandment to love one another (Matt. 22:37-40, John 13:35, Rom. 13:9)—forever (Matt. 10:22, Psa. 113:2).
  5. Then God’s Holy Spirit will establish a saving relationship with all who truly accept/love Him (Rev. 3:20) that will eventually achieve heaven after Christ returns when by means of persevering in learning Truth/God’s Word/sanctification everyone cooperates fully with His will (John 14:6, 17&26, Rom. 8:6-17, Gal. 6:7-9, Eph. 1:13-14, Heb. 10:36, 12:1, Jam. 1:2-4).

The Bereans were searching through the Old Testament not the New Testament.

The Bereans more than likely were checking things such as the messianic prophecies.

The Old Testament did not have chapters on the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit.

Stay with me and concentrate on the revelation in the New Testament.

Can you read the following paragraph and tell me what you accept and reject.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given
the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit,
and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit,
and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles,
and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues,
and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things,
distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

Could you also explain why you selectively choose one gift and not another.

Could you also explain if you are Sola Scripture only?

I did not come to you with special messages or knowledge about God?

All I am trying to do is get you to read the scripture and believe it.

You claim Sola Scripture but you deny the scripture (1 Corinthians) and the power of God.

You hold to a form of godliness but deny it's power.

Regardless of what you think the Bereans were checking, it's what they were not doing that is germane to this issue. They were not seeking out esoteric knowledge and the Bible labeled them more noble because of it. Unlike you and those of your ilk who go around scripture and seek out modern "knowledge" from your so called prophets to scratch your itching ears.

These are all supernaturally given gifts of the Holy Spirit during the age of the miraculous. They were active during the 1st Century but not during our time of faith without sight. It is not that hard to understand.

Could you also explain if you are Sola Scripture only?
I think you mean why am I Sola Scriptura?

I use the Word of God as the final authority on matters of faith and theology. Can you say the same?

Pentecostals live off of emotions and a false sense of the esoteric.

I agree with you, except that there is no reason to say "there is no accept or reject", when we do it all the time, especially on CC.
"TrustandObey" means to accept Scripture teaching that we walk by faith and that every ability we have is gifted by God.

In 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, I would accept the following:

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given
the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit,
and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit,".

I see insufficient evidence of gifts of healing, miracles, tongues and interpreting tongues to accept that these gifts are currently given,
although God may heal occasionally without working through doctors.

Prophecy in the sense of preaching is acceptable, as well as the ability to distinguish between good and evil or truth and falsehood,
And yes, one and the same Spirit works through each one individually just as He wills, and in the post-miraculous age, the primary gifts are those listed in Ephesians 4:11-16.

What is spoken of in 1st Corinthians 12:4-11 are supernaturally given gifts of the Holy Spirit. I do not believe that these gifts are given in this manner during the age of faith without sight.

If God wants someone today to have a "word of knowledge" or a "word of wisdom" He most certainly will. But it will not be in the manner of a physical manifestation that can be claimed as from God.

Regardless of what you think the Bereans were checking, it's what they were not doing that is germane to this issue. They were not seeking out esoteric knowledge and the Bible labeled them more noble because of it.
No, the Bible clearly states what they did and called them noble because of it. Yours is an argument from silence.

Unlike you and those of your ilk who go around scripture and seek out modern "knowledge" from your so called prophets to scratch your itching ears.
While you don’t diligently seek out the truth but have latched on to a false but salacious stereotype.

Without hesitation.

Fallacy: false generalization.

You are certainly free to believe whatever, but that doesn’t make you correct.

If God wants someone today to have a "word of knowledge" or a "word of wisdom" He most certainly will. But it will not be in the manner of a physical manifestation that can be claimed as from God.
What’s the difference? A manifestation is a manifestation. If someone speaks a word of knowledge, that is just as “physical” today as it was in the first century.[/QUOTE]

Well, we should keep in mind that nature is a supernatural miracle,
but I agree that the purpose of the gifts cited in Ephesians 4:11-16
are intended to give all believers words of knowledge and wisdom.

I have lived and continue to live by faith only and not sight. Can you say the same?
This comment seems somewhat peculiar in light of the earlier claim with the gorilla which, basically, argued that you don't believe in gorillas because you haven't had any encounters with any gorillas, correct?

That's confusing the terms. The gifts described in 1 Corinthians are distinct from general wisdom and knowledge. Ephesians 4 describes gifts of ministry specialty intended for general edification, while those in 1 Corinthians are used in specific cases and likely irrelevant for other times, places, and people.

Didn't say you weren't saved, you did however show everyone here thst you allow yourself to be triggered, that is not a sign of spiritual maturity.
Everyone comes to Jesus as they are, but we must not stay that way, we continually grow to conformation into the image of the Son.
best wishes
"HeIsHere thought this was funny, so sad.......

Our aim as believers should never be to condemn or shut other believers down. When I speak, I do have presuppositions, we all do. However, I do attempt to see the other side of the coin. For instance, if someone does not believe in tongues, I begin to ask myself the question of why? Then that why leads into a study, and the study into an answer in and through the lens of scripture. All Bible based discussion should lead deeper into His word.
Hopefully it leads to vital, one on one, 24/7/365 relationship, after all, "we have not because we ask not, etc."
