Lol, that's a good story that you'll never forget!

When I ask google to search for information on why peppers are so hot I find this:
Peppers are hot because they produce a chemical called capsaicin. Capsaicin doesn't actually create heat. Instead, it tricks the pain and temperature receptors in your mouth and skin into thinking you're being burned.
When you eat a hot pepper:
From the plant's perspective, capsaicin is a defense mechanism. It discourages mammals from eating the fruit and destroying the seeds. Interestingly, birds are largely unaffected by capsaicin, so they can eat the peppers and spread the seeds.
- Capsaicin binds to TRPV1 receptors, which normally detect heat and injury.
- Your brain receives signals that feel like burning.
- Your body reacts by sweating, producing tears, and sometimes a runny nose, even though no actual heat damage is occurring.
The hottest part of a pepper is usually not the seeds themselves, but the placenta, the white membrane inside the pepper where the seeds are attached.
Pepper heat is measured using the Scoville Scale:
If a pepper is too hot, drinking water won't help much because capsaicin is oily. Dairy products, especially milk, work better because the protein casein helps remove capsaicin from your mouth
- Bell pepper: 0 Scoville Heat Units (SHU)
- Jalapeño: 2,500-8,000 SHU
- Habanero: 100,000-350,000 SHU
- Carolina Reaper: over 1,000,000 SHU
Cashew FRUIT juice, not cashew NUT juice. (Though it's not really a not, it's technicall a drupe, but...)Argh.
You know how some things activate your sense of smell and taste as if you're actually trying them?
Garlic jelly and sour cashew juice???
Bleh.
I feel like I need to go brush my teeth -- and gargle.

What is this....edible plastic?
flavoured water jelly. These look BEAUTIFUL in the stores, but I've never been able to justify paying for one since you have to cut and throw away so much of the outside.
What do these taste like?!
If you followed the directions of the packet...well don't.
You never supposed to have this amount of *polydextrose* in one glass

Well it's a fun thread anyway.
I'll have to cross a few more things off my shopping list...
Hey Everyone!!
So I was trying a new instant noodle bowl (ah, the exciting life of a CC single!,) and it came with not 1, but 3 different packets of additions -- one packet of dried veggies (amounting only to a pile of about the size of an American quarter, bah humbug!), one for the stir-fry sauce, and one... suspiciously labeled, "Dragon Tears."
Now, I'm not keen to the world of hot sauces (or sauces in general,) but apparently it was something like this:

There was no way I was just going to just automatically pour this onto my food -- I admire all the "adventurous" eaters out there -- but I am not one of them. But I did, however, dutifully cut open the packet -- daring to try just the tiniest little taste...
And yes.
I have no doubt that this stuff could make a dragon cry!!!
Thank goodness the name was a warning right off the bat, am I right?
I mean, if this stuff would have been called, "Lambie Kisses," I might have been deceived and just dumped in the whole thing into the bowl!!
What about you?
* Have you ever known you were in for a doozie, even just by reading a product's name?
* Have you ever been deceived by a product's name, appearance, or color? (I remember as a kid, when I first tried mint jelly, since it was green -- for some reason, I thought it was going to taste like limes, because I thought mint seemed way too outlandish for a jelly flavor!)
* Do you often pass by certain products just because of their name and/or description? (I tend to dislike anything with a "musk" scent, so I avoid this in fragrances, candles, hand soaps, etc.)
* And on the flipside -- have you ever been doubtful of a product, but picked up anyway -- and found yourself pleasantly surprised instead? Or are you sometimes drawn to products just BECAUSE of their name or color? How did it go? (I admit, I can be a sucker for cleverly named products, depending on what they are.)
I've always thought marketing must be an interesting career -- especially when choosing the names, appearances, and presentation of products.
What have YOUR experiences been with questionably named things?
Inquiring minds want to know!![]()

I can relate lolI love the idea of dragons. I think I'd be more susceptible to buy or try anything with the word dragon in it.
Friend 1: "Hey Charles, do you want some fruit?"
Charles: "Nah, I'll pass, thanks."
Friend 1: "Okay. Well how about, some *dragon* fruit?"
Charles: "Hmmmm. Well, okay, that sounds pretty cool, I'll give it a try!"
Friend 2: "Hey Charles, do you want some lambie kisses?"
Charles: "Who do you think I am? Give it to someone else."
Friend 2: "Okay. Well how about, some *dragon* tears?"
Charles: "Hmmmm. Either something strong enough to make a dragon cry, or someone was strong enough to make a dragon cry and then collected its tears. Win-win scenario. I'll take it!"

Now how many of those posts are about stuffed animals... I ain't saying.
Gaia hair care products. Pass. Demonic name. I would not eat pizza for some time because I did not like the name, likewise dim sims. Now pizza is my favourite take away and dim sims are just fine. I had the same issue with my favourite pizza place. The business name is silly, but their pizza is the best. I did not try them for way too long. Now I won't go anywhere else.

Which reminds me, this whole thread is demonic. Dragon tears? All you heretics should leave this thread alone. Avoid it like the plague!Gaia hair care products. Pass. Demonic name.
