I always found it interesting that in New York City times square, they always had these cup noodles on the building

Have you tried? Are they nice? Better than mac n cheese? Instant noodles are the Asian Mac n' Cheese. Also many just come in their own cup or bowl so all you need to do is add hot water and they cook in 1-2 minutes.

Fancy...our New World supermarket just sells ordinary NZ (Pakeha) food. I don't shop there, the prices are too high

I do buy those noodles on the second shelf from the top, they are from Indonesia. They do have packets of chili sauce along with soy and garlic flakes in them, I don't put too much chilli sauce in when I cook them though.
Sorry third from the top...when I scrolled I missed a shelf.

MyMelodys cloud cupcakes has wheathearts on them. The clouds are made of meringue.
Kuromi's doriyaki is red bean paste...with onions and pickles inside!

I've tried this brand, but don't really care for it.

I think a good brand of Cup'O'Noodles is hard to find.

Kind of like finding a Noodle in a Haystack, I guess.

(Yes, I know that doesn't technically make sense, but it sounds cute.) 😎

Shin Cup if you like Tom Yum.
Otherwise I don't usually have cup of noodles as got bowls at home, a stove and a pot.

Sorry Shin Cup is Korean instant ramen.
Then what was the Thai one??

I think it may be Trident.

Note - it's not toothpaste. The trident is like what King Neptune had for his underwater kingdom. Also, this has a dragon on it.

The noodles that come in a bowl or cup, they often have utensils inside to eat them with, but I note, they are NOT chopsticks. They are tiny forks. Or tridents. Apparently you are supposed to stab your noodles with them. images-53.jpg

There is a chain here called World Market.

They carry all kinds of imported foods... I've seen many of the Kit Kat/candy flavors from around the world.

But have not been brave enough to try most of them! 😂

We had a world market here years ago. My parents liked shopping there and would always buy chocolate bars of some kind. There was also a Pier 1 Imports and it was like World Market, but I think Pier 1 came first.

They boomed in popularity years ago. Maybe about 20 years ago? Their tv commercials were always on and they were always out on display at costco. I never tried it but I read that they have shorter noodles so you can eat it with a spoon instead of a fork.

Since I'm filipino we always ate rice, not noodles. 😸

Def not Uncle Ben's though

Rice in a bag?

I don't understand... do not people have ....a rice cooker or know about the absorption method??

images-58.jpg
Also if your rice isn't a little sticky you're not doing it right.

Here's a real sack of rice

But the ones we buy are the elephant brand. Because you know, animals make good brand names. Especially...King Elephants.

Yes this is what my parents always bought. Big sacks of rice, from Chinese grocery stores. I still buy them from costco, there's one in the kitchen, but I hardly ever cook rice now. And we always had a rice cooker. It's a Filipino staple (the rice cooker).

But no 20 years or more ago your average white american family didn't have a rice cooker. Even now there's probably alot of people in the us that don't have one.

 I'm not am average white american obvs.

But we do eat white rice. My mum couldn't live without her white rice. Had to be long grain.

White americans eat...white bread? I can't get over this obsession with white sliced bread. You'd think it was the greatest thing. And everyone would have had a toaster.

It looks like a lolly. I mean the wrapping. Also, why is it called wonder?
