Oh, you also mentioned movie reviewers. Do you watch that Pitch Meeting series from ScreenRant?

Greg Owen is another reviewer I like, though he doesn't post as often (probably because he's a dad to 6 kids.)

One of his movie review series is "The 6-Kid Review."

He's very well-spoken and does breakdowns that have you thinking, "Yeah!! That's right!!! I was totally thinking that but didn't know how to say it!"

He also talks about his Christian faith openly and advocates for the foster system (having adopted a daughter through it.) I love that he obviously loves his wife and kids and is very much a family guy. A lot of his shorts are excellent as well.

But he does use some rough language, which people have called him out on.

Another way to translate this verse is “toward your husband your desire.” In Hebrew, there's no verb here. This judgment is predictive, so the translators added the future-tense verb “will be," for clarity.

So, because of the curse, men and women now experience conflict, rather than perfect harmony. In the Garden of Eden, there was harmony. After the Fall, there's a power struggle. (The NLT translates it to “You will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”)

Also, this judgment is merely describing what takes place after Adam and Eve sinned. God says that, because of their sin, men and women will live in conflict and their relationship will involve challenges and problems. There's no command here for men to "dominate" women or whatever.

For the more "Christlike" portrait of what marriage should be, see Ephesians 5.
Oh yes there is, women ought to be silent, 1 Tim. 2:11-14, 1 Cor. 14:34-35, if she wants learn anything go ask her husband at home. And not to mention "submit to your husband" in Eph 5. That sounds pretty much like domination to me from the husband's pov.

I don't think childbirth, when looked on from a purely visual perspective, is particularly beautiful, no matter how it's done. Spiritually and emotionally yes, but from a physical observation, probably not so much.

And I think any woman who's had a C-section (I've known several) will let you know that it was not, in fact, painless.

Let's cut your abdomen open, pull something out, and you can come back and tell us how painless your recovery was. (The Bible doesn't say the pain from childbirth couldn't be temporarily numbed -- and that's not an escape. The aftermath is still very painful.)

Case in point.

I've never been pregnant, and have never birthed or C-sectioned a child.

However, my appendix burst when I was younger -- they took it out -- and I can tell you, having your abdomen, or anything else sliced open for ANY reason is not a thoroughly painless procedure.

I honestly don't think you're as naive or sheltered as you seem to pretend to be, but it seems you like the attention, so maybe all the interaction you get here is helping you in some way.

Apparently you've never had surgery or been cut open for any reason, which is a blessing.

But I can't think of anyone in their right mind who wouldn't be able to understand why having the body cut open is most definitely not painless.
Case in point, childbirth is a necessity to prolong the human race, but it's messy, painful and exhausting, don't romanticize it as "beautiful". When I said "painless" I was just being sarcastic, since God had intended to "greatly increase" the pain.

You know, in most other surgeries, there's laparoscopic even robotic technology, you don't need to be sliced open, all it takes is two or more small holes to stick the instruments and camera in and get the job done inside. C section is one of the few that still has to be done in the old fashioned way.

Apparently the extinction of the human race never played into your little theory here.
Human race has more than tripled since WW2, in recently years the growth has merely slowed down a bit, and you're calling for extinction? Pffft, nice try, fearmongerer.

Single women have to earn a living as well, there is no "Official Dole of Funds Just For Being Female" 🙄🙄🙄

Guarantee you I deal with more thorns, sweat and briars than you do, son. 🙄🙄🙄
But single woman is spared from the fate for Eve, right? No domestic conflict and painful childbirth? Earn a living is just the trade-off for that.

Good grief, I just rolled my eyes so hard that they won't roll back.
If you prefer domestic conflict and painful childbirth to earning a livelihood and return to dust, that's your choice. The real curse for modern women is to bear both fates, i.e. you both have to work for a living and bear the pain of childbirth.

Whatever you say, Doctor. 🩺🥼💊🚑

I say beauty is pain

So much truth in this.

I've heard people talk about The Beauty of the Cross.

But Jesus's experiences to and on the cross involved nothing but pain. 🙏🏼

I wrote a thread once saying that L-O-V-E and P-A-I-N are both 4-letter words.

And often feel interchangeable.

Good to see you @McShawn. 🙂

It just means our fate looks like Adam's rather than Eve's. There's no escaping the effects of the fall for men OR women, single or not.

Didn't expect this controversial passage to pop up. I'm sure there's a long thread about it here somewhere.

The section of 1 Timothy 2 deals with teaching and with assuming authority. It is not an absolute command for women to remain silent at all times in all services.

Regarding 1 Corinthians 14, context is also important. Earlier in this epistle Paul mentions situations where women are allowed to pray and prophesy publicly: “But every woman who prays or prophesies…” (1 Corinthians 11:5) And a big part of Chapter 14 deals with Paul's concern with orderly assembly. From verse 33, it seems like everyone in these Corinthian church services was participating whenever and however they pleased, with people speaking in tongues at the same time, with no interpreter, for instance. So Paul instructs a number of groups to “be quiet” at certain times and under certain conditions (verses 27–28, 29–31, 34–35)

So verses 34-35 show up in a rather specific context, in a chapter that mostly deals with tongues and prophecy.

But if you interpret this as a biblical command for husbands to "dominate" their wives, well, you don't have to get married, do you?

Also, remember Ephesians 5:25? Or Colossians 3:19? Or 1 Peter 3:7?

Yeah, how does that work out? Blind condoning of bad, manipulating behaviors of the wives. Whenever there's a conflict, the woman's always right, the man's always wrong. I'm just one who's red pilled.

Do you have a whole saved playlist of these sorts of videos on hand or something?

Also, are you of the opinion that every marriage, or most marriages, are like that? Of course there's no perfect marriages. But you seem to think that every marriage, or every every Christian marriage (or the majority of these) are completely unhealthy.

How would you even know that?

How many married couples do you know, personally? Or do you derive all your negative judgments from these YouTubers?

I'm of the opinion that you'd better be well informed of what you're getting yourself into before you jump head in. I know that a marriage can't be healthy when the community and the environment it's in the middle of is unhealthy like in those videos, with a #MeToo culture and a white knight pastor aiding and abading such behaviors of the wife.

So because you know some examples of unhealthy marriages, then no marriage can possibly be healthy, ever.

Is that something you genuinely believe?
