Ok what are some good jokes to tell on a date?
Also, what would be a good prank to break the ice. Or is pranking not allowed?
Would you behave differently if your date was being filmed on CCTV (but don't tell them) as practice to show other singles on what not to do?

Unfortunately while my local church is great on salvations it has no designated Single's groups. I think they tried but bc of all the input needed, esp age ranges, it fizzled out. What they have is a large selection of small groups, designating Singles, Couples, Mom's etc. where people get to know each other in a smaller setting. So yeah, Idk why this isn't addressed to aid young adults in meeting up with other like-minded singles.

Wait, so they have a singles group but it doesn't talk about "singles" issues?

Huh?

Uh, I've never considered pranking someone I'm meeting on a first date.

That'd be quite the first impression!

I just find that set up dates could be a bit disingenous. Even if you sincerely said 'I wanna be married straight away. Don't go out with me unless you seriously want to marry me'

As seems to be the case in church circles.

But maybe its some kind of security against those types of guys who will impregnate their date, and then when she tells him the news, tell them oh not I don't want to be a dad now. See ya! Cos young people are clueless like that. They don't know this stuff because they aren't properly educated on the birds and the bees.

Older people probably have a lot more sense but then they might already have children and know by now they don't want any more. IDK there's just too many IN CHURCH that have families and they don't even bother to get married. Like pastors sons and daughters, so ?? why would going to church be any guarantee of faithfulness?

How young is 'young' ? Like, still in teens? or is it any time after graduating high school. What if they still don't have a job, because jobs are so hard to come by even after graduation.

Wait, so they have a singles group but it doesn't talk about "singles" issues?

Huh?
The 'we're single because we don't want to be single' group. And then there's the other group 'the happy singles who want to stay happy and single' group.

That's TWO singles groups in one church, and they never meet with each other because their meetup times are on at the same time but at different cafes where the coffee has run out.

The first single group is more of. a unicorn club, and they are actually secretly married, but don't want to advertised the fact. Otherwise, they will be seen as the boring 'smug married couples' group.

I am very confused about this because, one time I asked to be in a church group, like a Bible study or as they call it 'life group' or 'small group'. One was 'mixed' as in it had all different people in it, including babies, another was a group where I was the only female, and I've also been in groups as the youngest because all the rest were elderly ladies.

Oh there was also the 'young womens' group because some churches believe women have to have their own group, since when it was mixed and there were men in it, they started coming on to the women even if they already had girlfriends, and their already girlfiends, who sometimes attended the group, would get all jealous if the guy paid attention to anyone else.

Also, I think I was too old to be in a youth group that consisted of youth who were still in school. But everyone thought I was.

🤷‍♀️

Nobody likes to be singled out either.

What's a girl to do? Head to the bar and drown her sorrows? Go to a cafe and pretend to like coffee?

The 'small groups' at my local church are primarily for studying/discussing the previous Sunday sermon or studying a selected Book or aspect of the Bible. They designate Single's(but don't specify age) groups where maybe up to 8-15 can be in a sm group.
There's on-campus groups, zoom and some meet at other places to choose from.
I'm in a Widow's Group which is great fellowship and also a co-ed group with married people and a few single people.
And we are allowed to talk about things at the beginning the hosts, a married couple, ask everyone how they're doin and at the end prayer requests. So it's really not compicated and I have joined a couple sm groups and had to bow out if they didn't appeal to my tastes. Like in one previous group I said something about watching Joyce Meyer and that group leader tried to persuade me Joyce was a heathen and even sent me a clip of Joyce mouthing off, which was so totally doctored up. A few other extreme opinions there too. So actually single's can meet and also voice personal hopes and/or prayer requests in depth.
Good point you made though and that would be nice👍👍

Joyce Meyer had some interesting books and she really does help a lot women who are struggling with the Christian life.

That is sad that there are few who want to badmouth her, I mean if you don't like her then just leave her alone, some people just get their thrills from attacking others when they don't have their own ministries that they could be busy with.

Some clue?
For the most part people are clueless.
You also can be sincere, but sincerely wrong about someone.
Also how do you test this 'chemistry'. Wait till something explodes...some kind of reaction? Does the date laugh at your joke or go 'huh I don't get it'
Are you saying even church guys are clueless😂 By chemistry I mean when you meet someone and have talked a while and get the impression 'wow they are cool' or 'they're nice I like them but don't feel a bond'. I'm thankful for the Holy Spirit when I'm interviewing people to rent a room. I can actually feel the negativity by their tone/thought or feel a sincere plight to find a good room. In many yrs I've only been off maybe twice🙌 and had to scoot them out.
I think people give up on mingling with the opposite sex with marriage in mind bc of shyness, 'rejection', 'oh I'll never find someone', or over-thinking negative presumptions on someone.
My son, after his wife went on to Heaven, mourned for four months then met someone through FB quick, lol.

Oh question on what is meant to be fun thread...

Where can you find these machines that test your compatiblity? Have you ever tested them and do they work?

I don't think so, it's just being interviewed is so draining of time and resources. Anyone who's been on a fruitless job hunt will know this.
Also people can't afford to marry. Its a thing. The struggle is real. Poverty is real. The housing crisis is real.

All those who are renting your rooms, are they single? Do you try to match make them as well? Is it cheaper to rent a room if you are a couple?

FB is a busybody site for sure, originally it started as a rating system for college students who wanted to ask someone out if their status was 'single'.

But it's very old now, and lost its vibe once the boomers got onto it. Also, I wouldn't put children's photos on there. But thats just me.

It's not fear of rejection it's because people don't have time or money to date. We have other things to do in life.

Maybe I'm in a very populated area where housing units are going up like crazy and filling up fast, so somebody must be employed. At our church, I'd say at least every other month, there are baby dedications, so matches and babies are still happening prob more than rural areas.
So glad you asked about the renters here I have a perfect example🙌 I rented a room out to a young man, 30's, who had just started a job at the Dept of Public Social Services. So he starts asking gals out mostly from his work and over a couple yrs, none worked out. He is mainly Mexican/Cauc and he met this sweet, black a little bit larger than him gal from work, that he started dating. I felt the chemistry between them and they dated for another 2 yrs and got married. They have a cute son now.
As I said in my op, this Thread is just for fun. I had read more than a few Threads & posts about 'will I ever meet the right one' etc and thought I 'stir the pot' as I'm prone to do😂 They'll be no shotgun weddings, so no one need worry🤣🤣🤣

As far as FB goes I find all types and ages post there. My kid is in his 30's and goes to a Christian dating thing there, I've not asked him the name, but has met and mingles with Christian people there. Yeah it takes some discretion but sometimes it pays off.

Yeah, one of my friends met his now-wife on FB Dating. I didn't even know FB had a dating-app feature before that.

If that's what you meant.

Oh, yeah. Questions.

Yeah, I have a question, actually. I'm sure many or most of you guys attend a church regularly. Does your church have a singles ministry or any sort of group like that? Does your church ever address that topic (singleness, unwanted singleness, or even dating) with any depth?

And do you think your church addresses "married-couple" and "family" issues more than it does "singles" issues?
We have women fellowship, men fellowship, college careers fellowship, youth fellowship... all welcome non married people.

Only when people have questions, they seek pastoral counseling. Otherwise, I don't see pastors address any specific topics to general.

But such as in college group, he will choose topic for college people to discuss.

It doesn't it just has like buttons. AFAIK haven't been on in years.

It had Facebook Marketplace and business pages and 'sponsored content' and nonsensical feeds, and probably a lot of cat videos.
