The percentage of successful marriages is pretty much equal between arranged and "western." I know my parents couldn't have done worse than I did. I'm not saying either way is right, but I think either way is acceptable.

I definitely believe different methods can work for different people.

As for me, I definitely wouldn't be cut out for an arranged situation.

Or maybe any at this point, lol. :D

It's up to God.

I've told you that the world revolves around the sun, it loves itself, and I'm just passing by. What makes you think that dating, for your own pleasure, the satisfatction for your own need, is somehow selfless, whereas busting it is somehow selfish?

What makes you think that only talking about the things you want to talk about, from your own perspective, and only within your own parameters, is somehow unselfish?

Your insistence on adding guardrails to scripture.
The Scripture has repeated warnings on drunkenness, the Lord himself explicitly warned about getting drunk and negligent, are you gonna accuse God of him adding "guardrails"? And for the record, I never said no alhocol at all, just limit it to special occassions. Isn't that just another word for your precious "moderation"?

Go rant about whatever you like, broach whatever subject you prefer, it's your right of speech.

Yeah, says someone who defends alcohol, junk food, gambling, gaming, even weeds. I have enough self control to stay away from these, faithfulness in an almighty God who keeps me away from these, and joy in the absence of these, believe it or not.
Good for you. None of that is sinful in moderation and you haven't shown otherwise. FYI, I don't gamble or smoke weed (I'm allergic). That doesn't mean I tell others they can't because scripture doesn't say they can't.

I don't know who you're reading about but I don't see @NightTwister defending sin.

You enjoy accusing people of it, but you insist on squeezing everything through your own lens of self-righteousness.

Are you a sinless perfectionist?

Yeah, this is why I can't get into the "dating to marry" or "courting" mentality.

People can't possibly know if they want to marry each other if they can't even be allowed a no-pressure environment to get to know each other.

But that's just my view.

For sure.

We might even say that getting to know one another better and more deeply is the whole point of a dating relationship. Wow. Imagine that!

I've often read that Christians marry at a younger age than the national norm. i wonder if this is one of the reasons why.

I have my own stuggles, but I'm not guilty on these specific vices, my conscience is clean.

Their own blood glucose and other vital signs will tell them whether they can or cannot.

*Glances at the something like 1,060 threads she's written and laughs.*

Oh believe me, I exercise my right very broadly here. :D
Then go to other threads. On this particular thread titled "thoughts of Christian dating", my only thought is to bust the oxymoron "Christian dating". You know, there used to be "Christian soaps" to wash away your sins, that was more "Christian" than dating.

A more horrible and enslaving addiction is tiktok shorts, it has ruined a generation, I've seen folks watching these shorts while walking, driving, even cycling. When a group of folks are waiting the elevator, all except a few elders are clicking or swiping on their phones. I admit I use my phone as well, but never a heavy user like them, I only use it to listen to podcasts and read books and other necesary work related communications. I don't feel superior or something, I only feel sad.

There is nothing "Christian" about Christoan soaps. The implication that mere soap could wash away sin is utter heresy and an insult to everything Christ did for us.

I know you apparently don't see any other threads than the dating ones, but yes, I've written plenty of other threads in the time you've been here.

I like stopping back in these threads though because I enjoy reading what many of the members here have to say.

Plus, I need to somehow my lifetime supply of popcorn, even though that legalistic goody two-shoes @RodColeman keeps trying to set up restrictions!! ⚠️😒😆🍿
