But one thing you must remember, Luther used violent and vulgar language throughout his career.
So I must remember that he was vulgar and violent? I understand that quite clearly. All one need do is read the man's deluded and confused machinations to understand that he was terribly disturbed, even schizophrenic.
Did you know, for example, that he ate a spoonful of his own feces every day? Stating that he “couldn’t understand the generosity of a God who freely gave such important and useful remedies."
He was obsessed with his own feces, and would often write to people concerning the intimate details of his bowel movements.

Yeah. Eww.

PLEASE! come sit down comfortably and visit with me! I was raised Lutheran. I still go with my Grandson at times, it is a lovely church.

But in my studies I discovered that some churches incororate some of these ways of worship. My belief before was that if you had anything to do with this scripture you were denying the power of Christ. Now, my understanding is that they are a step toward Christ. My path to changing my understanding was long and difficult. I still question.

I cannot drive, can't get to a church who worships in this way. I could get there twice. The whole building seemed to vibrate with love of the Lord, Christ was worshipped, I was impressed. I studied the lives of the Jews who used these ways without understanding their Messiah. Like Paul said, it was like a guardian helping them to school.

Let's talk it over!!! And thanks so very much for listening.
Ah! A fellow shut in. :)
Like you, I get out (rarely) when someone (my husband) takes me. I'm okay with it, though. God is good. :)

Just so I understand you, ma'am, when you say 'some of these ways of worship', do you mean those of the OT Jews?

And if you won't think it rude of me to ask again,

what state do you think unbelieving Jews are in today?
do you think they are heaven bound? (saved)
if so, why?

Thanks for your patience. I am (finally!) learning to
clarify things.
Looking before leaping is rewarded with less pain.
And before speaking...think. Then think again! :)

The Lutheran Church still teaches against any of what they call Judiasm. They feel all Jews deny anything to do with the Messiah and have dammed theirselves to hell. They still emphasize the teaching to worship in spirit and truth rather than using ritual to the point that they say the use of ritual is wrong. They feel following any ritual at all from the OT is following the Jews, a very bad thing.
what a bunch of lies redtent.

On the Jews and Their Lies (German: Von den Jüden und iren Lügen) is a 65,000-word antisemitic treatise written in 1543 by the German Reformation leader Martin Luther.
you guys cant be bothered to bring out the stuff where he FOUGHT FOR THE JEWS.
he insisted they be treated with respect and dignity.

then he FOUND THE TALMUD.

now let's talk about the jews and their lies.

"We are at fault in not slaying them (Jews). Rather we allow them to live freely in our midst despite all their murdering, cursing, blaspheming, lying, and defaming..."

"So it became apparent that they (Jews) were a defiled bride, yes, an incorrigible whore and an evil slut."

"First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them...
I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed."

"They must be driven from our country."

The ironic part is that those who are against Luther saying to do this to Jews, are actually in support of Jews doing it to West Bank/Palestinians/Arabs/Whatever ya wanna call em, who are minding their own business and living in peace.
ain't it the truth.

But one thing you must remember, Luther used violent and vulgar language throughout his career.
Such verbose railings were not uncommon for religious leaders in the early sixteenth century.
Plus, the tradition of Christian medieval thought was hundreds of years of anti-semitism.
Yes, Rome surely wasn't squeaky clean when it came to the Jews either.

Laughable deluded nonsense. Luther wrote "On Jews and their Lies" 3 years before his death.

Even though all the negative things posted here about Martin Luther are true, no one is bringing out the wonderful things that God accomplished through him.

Before, people were not to read about or learn of God personally. Luther translated the bible so people could read it for theirselves. At about the same time the printing press was invented. God is in power. Luther challenged the all powerful Catholic Church and as a result even the Catholic Church was reformed besides opening up a more personal way for people to worship and ask for forgiveness from their Lord.

What if men of Luther's day said that this man has serious faults so we must not listen to anything that he says, any way he leads.

Well, then he was ailing.
You helped our argument inadvertently.
Brings us back to the sunshine of his ministry.....which was reading what the Apostle Paul wrote....."the just shall live by faith."; and standing up to the religious oligarchy of the time.
And another thing, he married off all the nuns to priests. (Ask them if he was mad?)
The alone were lonely, for it is not good for man to be alone, the the two were made one flesh. So that their respective ministries helped each others. - (as they were meet for each other) - all of them!
And a three cord rope is not easily broken, the third being the Holy Spirit.
I will esteem a man that faced the religious Berlin wall of his time, and broke it down.

Yes and how by him bringing the Gospel to light, Rome's stranglehold on men's minds were broken...superstitions put to rest, no more having to pay money for the forgiveness of sins and best of all the Scriptures could be read by the everyday peasant.
