"… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves) of sin leading to (eternal) death,
or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness … so now present your members as slaves
of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin … the end of those things is
(eternal) death. … For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …" (Romans 6:16-23)

"For those who LIVE according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh,
but those who LIVE according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally-
minded is (eternal) death, but to be spiritually-minded is (eternal) life and peace.”
(Romans 8:5-6)

• "For IF you live according to the flesh you will die (eternal death);
but IF by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live (eternal life).”
(Romans 8:13)

• “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption
(eternal death), but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Galatians 6:7-8

• “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into may foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil … Let them (rich Christians) do good,
that they may be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for them-
selves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”
(1 Timothy 6:9-19)

• “ ‘Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.’ But we are not of those who draw back to perdition,
but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:36-39)

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved,
he will receive the crown of (eternal) life which the Lord has promised to those
who love Him … when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin when
it is full-grown, brings forth (eternal) death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.”
(James 1:12-15)

WOW ... can you believe this guy? ... Doesn't believe pure unadulterated Scripture!
Since he's obviously NOT a Christian, why is he allowed on this forum?

Not at all sure what this thread is about. What is this gaining eternal death stuff mean and what exactly is the warning to the churches? Regardless, sounds kind of a negative approach, a more positive approach would be having the churches praise gaining eternal life.

As he has been here a lot longer than you, I suggest you choose your words carefully. If you have a problem with something he has posted, either address it squarely or, if you think it violates one of the site rules, inform the moderators.

There is a great deal of disagreement expressed on this site. Just because you and he don't agree on some point doesn't mean that either of you is not a Christian, or that either of you doesn't belong here. Learn to disagree respectfully and you'll last a lot longer and save yourself a lot of stress.

I was sure this thread was going to be be addressing Rev 1-3, specifically.

Who here thinks our obeying Him, doers and hearers of the word is important to God? Rhetorical, pretty sure we, believers, all do.

Ugh@telling ppl they are not Christians.

He has mocked God by indicating truth and righteousness is boring. Woe!

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Isa. 5:20-21

(Never) Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Isa. 5:23

Death, eternal death has been passed upon all men by sin. All men inherit eternal death because all men sin. Only those who have their sins atoned for in Christ will pass from death to eternal life by grace through faith in Christ.

Beware of apostates who pass through not believing the truth and presenting error as truth.

For the cause of Christ

Sadly another one who is here to attack and boast. Not discuss the word of God :(

"… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves) of sin leading to (eternal) death, or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness … so now present your members as slaves
of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin … the end of those things is
(eternal) death. … For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …" (Romans 6:16-23)
Works-salvationists typically ignore "servants of obedience unto righteousness" (Romans 6:16) and simply stress "obedience leading to or unto righteousness" as if works of obedience which "follow" faith saving faith in Christ are unto righteousness, as if we are saved by works. This continues to be your stumbling block. Unbelievers are not slaves of obedience unto righteousness no matter how much so called obedience that they attempt to conjure up through the flesh in a vain effort to obtain salvation by works.

There is a contrast here between servants/slaves. There are only two kinds of servants/slaves in this world, in the spiritual sense; servants/slaves of sin unto death, or servants/slaves of obedience unto righteousness. When we place our faith exclusively in Christ for salvation/believe the gospel by trusting in His finished work of redemption as the all sufficient means of our salvation, we then become "servants of obedience unto righteousness."

Being slaves of sin is put in the past tense. Paul goes on in Romans 6:18 - "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."

Notice in Romans 10:10 - For with the heart one believes unto righteousness..

Notice in Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith (not works) is accounted for righteousness.

Good post Mailmandan..

Pointing to the actual truth of salvation by grace and righteousness in spirit through believing Jesus and trusting in the Atonement He secured for us.. But i don't think this BCsenior is going to be buying it any time soon.. He has come here to preach not to listen..

But it is good to oppose his works salvation bondage doctrine for the sake of the babes in Christ..

WOW ... can you believe this guy? ... Doesn't believe pure unadulterated Scripture!
Since he's obviously NOT a Christian, why is he allowed on this forum?

I see you have made your profile unavailable today. I don't blame you. Yesterday you had 84 posts and over 42 negative responses from members! More than half! A true indictment to just how divisive you have been in being here a scant week.

So the REAL question is, why are YOU allowed on a Christian site?

I find it troubling that a staff member of this site gave a thumbs up to this post.
