We are all talking at each other and it has to be made clear that it is FAITH in CHRIST, in the GOSPEl, which puts us in a right relationship with GOD in order to and prior to the Holy Spirit sealing us and working in us to glorify THE GIFT of GOD, which again, is CHRIST JESUS..
I think we all agree that we must have faith in Christ to be filled with the Holy Spirit. But it seems unlikely that uninformed unbelievers would read through a thread like this.

But you could offer occasional reminders without implying that other posters are not doing things wrong. I could say everyone is wrong for not saying 'Hallelujah' or repeating the Lords' prayer in their posts every so often, but I have no basis for criticize others for not doing so.

You just don't get it. You cannot have one without the other. If you do not have the Holy Spirit indwelling you are not saved. We receive by grace for none have sufficient faith except Christ.

What you are espousing is not sound biblical doctrine.

When you have been in deep prayer and you began to groan in the Spirit from deep within , it is the same Spirit ..

14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

See thatś what I was asking you to provide the scriptures which teaches that.. See the confusion...You also had posted a reply to me that said something to that effect and I asked you to provide the scriptures...

This is confusing and will confuse many
I am not sure which post you are referring to. Are you sure you are not confusing me with another poster?

Btw, if you want references, Ephesians 5:18, the first five verses of Acts 6.

My dad was an Assembly of God preacher/evangelist. My bio and Christ sister still speaks in tongues and she is a very reasonable, honest, and humble woman. I believe it is a gift but not given to all.

I now belong to a non denominational church. However, I would love to have this gift. I have asked for it. I believe the gift of tongues are still alive and well, but also believe that the gift isn't for everyone, every saved person. I do know of the verses that say they will be no longer but I do not believe it is yet. I do NOT know. Honestly, I can only imagine such a gift being a beautiful and amazing blessing.

I think this OP is missing the first ëxtension"that leads to the Gift of the Holy Spirit...and that is belief in the Gospel And an understanding that He gives gifts according to His Purpose alone...
You need to derive this from a study of the scriptures. But they do not support this view. Faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit you cannot have unless you first have the Holy Spirit.

Wrong. That's when they were SEALED. Yeshua/Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection and breathed on them and said Receive the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 2 was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - they were baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit.
They had already been washed because they believed...they did not and could not receive the HOLY SPIRIT until after His crucifixion and resurrection...please refer to John 13 through 17 Remember, He was preparing them for the Holy Spirit, but He already said they were clean, and that if He did not go, He (that is, the Comforter, could not come)...
You are misunderstanding what I am saying. I think you keep talking about Yeshua/Jesus washing the disciples feet so they could receive the Holy Spirit and I am talking about being sealed, baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit - completely different topics. So, I shall try again....

The disciples that Yeshua/Jesus breathed on in John 20:22 were then SEALED with the Holy Spirit because they FINALLY understood and believed the whole Salvation Message (prior to that they kept thinking the whole reason Yeshua/Jesus was on Earth was to set up His Kingdom - they knew nothing about Salvation because Yeshua/Jesus preached the Kingdom of God while on the Earth.)

In Acts 2, Yeshua/Jesus had returned to His Father in Heaven and the Holy Spirit was poured out and given to ALL believers that had heard and understood the Salvation (Gospel) message during the 50 days between Yeshua/Jesus rising from the dead and the Holy Spirit being poured out on Pentecost.

As believers, the message we have been given to preach while we are on the Earth is the Gospel - the good news of Salvation ONLY in Yeshua/Jesus' Body and Blood. We can ONLY testify and witness of Yeshua/Jesus by being empowered with God's Holy Spirit.

Please read carefully john 13 through 17...

When we believe the Gospel, we are washed...but it is only through faith in CHRIST, that HE will send the Comforter who will be with us forever,,,,

Please concentrate on this next verse...

I will not leave you as orphans...I will come to you

Who is coming to us and will be with us forever?

Is Christ separate from the Holy Spirit?
Is the Holy Spirit separate from Christ?
Yes, They are separate in "works."

The "works" of Christ are for Salvation.

The "works" of the Holy Spirit are to seal, baptize and fill us (indwell us) which sets us apart, consecrates us and empowers us to testify of Christ in the Earth.

I think I understand the issue now... Why are we discussing the work of The Holy Spirit apart from the Gospel. Apart from Christ?

Itś confusing and will confuse many.

No One can receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit unless CHRIST first washes them...
Please explain to me how CHRIST washes us?

If we had the full measure of the Holy Spirit the moment we are saved then WHY did the apostles have to lay their hands on BELIEVERS to receive the Holy Spirit?

The logical extension of what you are espousing is that if one never experiences a great filling of the Holy Spirit they are not saved. This is heresy and not sound doctrine. A baptism of the Holy Spirit in addition to the salvation of the soul is not biblical. A filling of the Holy Spirit as part of our sanctification is biblical.
NEVER have I said that a person is NOT saved if they are not filled with the Holy Spirit. You are accusing me of heresy, yet it is YOU that are creating the lies that I did NOT say. You are behaving as a Pharisee - they also did resist the Truth because of who their father was.
It's no great mystery of the reason for laying on of hands in the apostolic church. It was for a witness to the circumcision. There is no expectation that we need to lay hands on anyone today.

Please explain to me how CHRIST washes us?
Itś into His Baptism...through faith in His work, we are washed...and itś His blood that washes us...and itś His covering, His blood that we are made to appear that our garments are white...but itś because we are covered and God, in a sense, sees His Sonś covering...that we look white and have the right (wedding) garment...

How can you suggest such a thing? God will never transgress His own word. For God to act as you suggest would totally render Him unable to judge with perfect righteousness all of His creation.

oh good grief

you don't own God nor can you tell those of us who ARE baptized with the Holy Spirit that being baptized into Christ is the same like some have decided to do in this forum

God is not confined by your personal interpretation of His word

you would like to give God a script and dare Him to say one thing that is not in it

how small you make Him

I actually think itś very likely that unbelievers, especially at this time, will be reading through threads like these.

Do you think God gave us everything that we need in Christ Jesus? Or, is there something else that we need?

frankly miknik, I don't understand what it is you are getting at either

that is what I am finding confusing here

perhaps explain it better

I think you are trying to say something about me that is not true

I also see why things are confusing with you

you quote my answer to someone else...with whom I have exchanged many posts...and ask an off the wall question out of context with what you quoted

seems you are fishing and I don't know why

Corinthians also was written because these believers were losing sight of the most important gift..The gift is love...and that outpouring of the Holy Spirit, does not leave any without the filling of the heart and the result, an outpouring of Love...some forget that as they strive for other gifts as if outdoing their brother and sister...but these gifts are for His purpose...and His purpose is to send those whom He calls to build up His Body/Kingdom

perhaps read what Paul says about the gifts of the Holy Spirit

God is the One who actually decides who to give what gift to...we do not strive...that is an incorrect teaching that some believe

and for that matter, far too many think they have this gift or that gift and they do not have said gift...the thousands of false prophets roaming the internet is proof enough of that, not to mention the really really bad so called teachers that God never called

don't confuse love with the spiritual gifts...Paul doesn't. what he states, is that you can have If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. I Cor.2

but what love? love is not a feeling because feelings are changing all the time. love, God's love, is the steadfast dependability, wisdom and knowledge we receive through the word by the Holy Spirit to take ACTION when God calls us to do so...it is USING the true gift of God for the gathering of those who are His. God's love is sacrificial

but we can read all about it in I Corinthians 13 and I have never met anyone in this world who can believably state that is the love they have

anyone can say 'I love you' or 'God loves you' but not that many will take the abuse given by other Christians TO Christians

and frankly, constantly telling people love is better does not help IMO. in what context does Paul say what he does?

he never dumps on the gifts...he is trying to TEACH because of the error in the Corinthian church...and that teaching is one of the most needed in Christianity today

God places a very high esteem on His word. For you act like God can just change His mind based on circumstances is to throw the very promise upon which salvation is based into doubt.
