He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. All through the book of John. That is not a work. It's the Holy Spirit convicting your soul and you accepting that conviction. Allowed to believe by God's grace. He convicts.. and then we can believe. Romans 10:9-10 also.

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

If they had believed on Jesus before becoming an adulterer.. they would be still saved. But the thing is.. they would then be convicted and rebuked by the Holy Spirit to restore relationship to Him. That is the consequence for sin.. not being sent to hell. So.. to continue in that sin...

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

First thing.. The book of John again has belief without baptism in most cases. The part with Nicodemus is also about the water of the womb at birth, and then later being born again. Not immersion for believers. Second ... When we take a med 'for' a headache... That is not to get the...

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

Yes water baptism is the right response. But it's belief in Jesus Christ as God..that He lived sinless died and rose again and that by believing He can forgive your sin that salvation is given. Not by being dunked in H20

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

Seems you need to meet more OSAS believers who are continuously faithful. But the truth is you yourself will have your own sin struggle. Mine is lust. Im dealing with it by God's grace. No one is without a struggle.

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

True. I don't mean self gain. But justified for eternal salvation is different to acts of service pleasing to God. They aren't dependent on eachother.

    10 Questions about OSAS

Usually a Christian would not live in sin.. because they want to give back to Jesus. But we all have our vices. No one is perfect. We all don't reach the mark of perfection. So we would go to heaven despite our flaws. Those who are continuously faithful though get greater rewards in heaven...

    10 Questions about OSAS

Think about the act Jesus does for the sinner at salvation. Then think about what would be the reasonable response to this. And that is why we serve God. Out of love back to the freedom giver.

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

No belief is a response to conviction on the heart.. accepting God's invitation. Not a work.

    10 Questions about OSAS

You know Jimmy, I am an adherent of OSAS but I don't follow Calvin, Augustine or Luther. I just read context in scripture. Indeed.. calvinism in it's full 5 point form is actually works based. It has salvation before belief.. and those who do believe WILL do good works. If they aren't doing...

    Let's get something straight

Yeah, substitutionary atonement, forgiveness of sins, justification.. they are completely central.. but get a 'yes, but' from many. It's as if the full strength of what Jesus has done and is doing is too much for them.. it's too hot! It's as if they have to put their arm out and distance it a...

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

Different contexts. So James when he writes about being justified by works... Abrahams work of being prepared to offer up his son Isaac, was 'justified by works'.. But he was justified, not by works, when he was saved earlier, when he believed. So in James ..all these examples are of works...

    10 Questions about OSAS

Jimmy, just put things in context. That is all. For eg..'faith without works is dead' Salvation is not the subject of the surrounding verses...but people using faith they already have. Not that Rahab etc...HAD to do their works or that their works proved that they were converted, but that...

Justification by works in James is not about eternal life justification.. but having acts of service justified before God. That is the context. Rahab etc.. were using faith they already had. Not that they were working to get saved or HAD to work after being saved.. but choosing to serve God...
