Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

Hold up! 'The church'.. being added to here... is the church at Jerusalem. These are already saved people joining in membership to the church at Jerusalem. These are people who were sealed by the Holy Spirit individually before being given the Holy Spirit 'in the midst' of their local...

    Who is Jesus?

Well.. the individuals and communities of the day believed that the Jesus of the Bible was a real person and Jesus to have been scourged and crucified and that the tomb is empty! Non Christian testimony of the day believes this...they just came up with any explanation other than resurrection...

    Who is Jesus?

Did you know there are 1000s of manuscripts that back up the bible? No other book in history comes close. Most scholars accept that the bible accurately records what the people of the time believed. So that what the bible is saying is a true representation of what they believed. So the...

Baptistic churches that have the same doctrine but not a denominational name have been around since b4 the RCC began! Read the Battle for Baptist History by I.K.Cross. Or My Church by J.M.Moody. Or Churches in the Valley in the Valley of Piedmont. Among others. End

I was asking tylerbones about baptism and salvation. Night twister was saying baptism can be sprinkling or pouring. But I'm leaving that subject in this topic now.

    Who is Jesus?

The history of RCC, and several reformation denominations. Not generally Baptists, Pentecostals and other churches that go by the bible over tradition. What does sprinkling and pouring picture? How does that symbolise Jesus' death, burial and resurrection? It doesn't. Anyway .. I will agree...

    Who is Jesus?

Well sprinkling and pouring do not picture the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. They don't count. Immersion in water does. That is the best picture..and the only representative of His resurrection seen in scripture. Not sprinkling and not pouring. You won't find either sprinkling...

    Who is Jesus?

Well, thing is.. if you have baptism by immersion for receiving eternal life ...that's not Christian teaching. That's what a lot of cults do. Water has no salvic properties..only Jesus payment for sin does. Immersion in water is publicly declaring you are a follower of Christ and picturing...

    Who is Jesus?

Jesus, lived a sinless life, performed miracles and wonders, claimed to be the great I AM, identified as being the Jewish national God. Forgives sin, gives eternal life to the believer through the Holy Spirit. Can be offended, hurt. Encourages, directs, guides and rebukes. Is equal with the...

    different levels of falling away

No..treating it as a license to sin is thinking carnally. If you were given a gift no strings attached... You wouldn't be thankful?

    different levels of falling away

None of the OSAS believers I know teach a license to sin. In fact knowing salvation is secure propels most to more faithfulness beause they are secure in the confidence in Christ. Romans 6 is about not using grace as an excuse to sin

    different levels of falling away

Jimmy, the majority of believers I know who hold to OSAS are consistently faithful. I'm sorry that you have experienced those believers who treat OSAS as a license to sin. I think they are missing the whole point of Jesus' sacrifice for them.

    different levels of falling away

Eternal salvation is a gift from Jesus to the believer the moment they entrust their salvation with Him. Daily service is the reasonable response to having been given this gift. Daily service though... Is not tied to eternal life. Eternal life remains thru all ... Daily service waxes and...

What is the difference between Evangelicals and Protestants?

There are other books that elaborate on the Trail of Blood booklet history far more in depth. By itself it is too short and misses alot.. with the other books you do see the real history.

And take seriously those who would cut the bible into shreds? That is what happens when you try and baptise babies and sprinkle instead of baptism by immersion. Anyway.. I'll reply to you no furthermore

What is the difference between Evangelicals and Protestants?

Well the Trail of Blood booklet by J.M.Carroll is a short summary of real history. It gets a bad wrap, but there are other much more exhaustive texts that elaborate on this real history. An example is My Church by J.M. Moody and the Battle for Baptist History by I.K.Cross. A big issue is...
