UN Majority Decides Israel Must Get Rid of Nuclear Weapons

This headline caught my eye... and when I read it, I wasn't surprised at all. A significant proportion of the UN's resolutions would inflict limitations on Israel... Israel must get rid of its nuclear weapons, UNGA majority decides (msn.com) Praise God that both Canada and the US sided with...

    Happy Canada Day!

To all my fellow Canadians... We are blessed to live in such a vast, beautiful, and relatively prosperous nation. Praise God for Canada! :) A suggestion: share one or two things that you appreciate about the True North, strong and free... I thank God that we can (still) practice and express...

    Psalm 12 under the microscope

I have seen parts of this psalm quoted many times. I’ve also seen it misquoted many times and have encountered ideas based on the misquotation being defended vigorously. Hopefully this thread will help clear up some of the confusion. Here’s the entire psalm in two different English versions...

    Reply Function can't be cleared

Sometimes when I click the "Reply" button, I decide not to post my reply and simply click back to the main forum. The next time I enter that thread, the material I quoted and/or wrote is still in my reply box. Can this be reset so that clicking out of a thread completely clears the Reply queue?

You know it's time to... when...

When I made coffee this morning, I stirred it and put the spoon on the edge of the sink... next to the other three spoons that were in the same place for the same reason. You know it's time to wash dishes when you see a line of spoons waiting to be washed. What are your reminders?

    Favorite Scripture Song?

Hi All, I was listening earlier to Keith Green's rendition of Psalm 23. It occurred to me that it is one of my favourite songs which is basically Scripture set to music. I like the way he put the song together musically, lyrically, and scripturally... Okay, that's a mouthful. I like the...

    Local Weather Report

I was just talking with a friend... she checked the weather in her area, and reported that there is no chance of Monday. Oh blessed week!

    Just change one letter...

The "Deja" thread inspired me... Here's the concept: take a name, phrase or saying, change one letter (or a few, or a word) and make up a new definition for it. For example, Repetitive Lotion Syndrome: the chronic need to re-apply sunscreen because the SPF ingredient doesn't last the whole...

    An observation in John 5

Hi All... I've been reading John 5 this evening... 24 Truly, truly I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into eternal life. 25 Truly, truly, I say to you an hour is coming and now is...

    Can we discuss... MGTOW?

Hi All, This thread is inspired partly by SeoulSearch's recent threads (kudos!) and partly by some YouTube videos I've seen. I would like some feedback on a present cultural phenomenon. I happened to watch a couple of videos on feminism and anti-feminism which led me to the idea of “MGTOW”...

When is the last time you smiled?

You probably won't get too much support around here on the idea that the difference is evolutionary! :) Wolves and other canids don't "smile"; they draw back their lips to protect them from damage. Humans withdraw their lips for the same reason, but a relaxed expression of pleasure on the face...

A sonnet... of past and future

A heart with faith and patient longing filled Bleak chains coldly withholding slowly rust A memory of past love turned to dust A deep commitment sadly falsely billed In prison, does one long for his release As time for his release draws ever near But drawing close it paints a trepid fear That...

Canadians... what are you thankful for?

Hi All, We Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, so I'd like to invite and inspire you to share a few things for which you are thankful. I read this question somewhere, "Have you ever spent an hour just giving thanks to God?" That, along with Corrie Ten Boom's story of her sister's...

    Interesting stats on singles' words...

As I was opening up another tab, this caught my attention: http://qz.com/509255/the-many-different-words-men-and-women-use-to-describe-themselves-on-okcupid/ It doesn't have much meat to it, but as several of the words have cropped up in this forum recently, I thought it interesting. Not...

    Perspectives on "moving on"?

Hi All, As I await the finalization of my divorce (the split was over two years ago), I am pondering 'what next?'. In the last few weeks, I have heard first-hand testimony from people who moved on to new relationships quite quickly after being divorced or widowed. Something about the stories...

Are you the type of person who....

I'm curious how many people on here compose posts like I do... with much thought, re-reading, changing, correcting, re-wording, deleting, starting over, etc. (Seriously, I can take 20 minutes to compose a five-line post!) Or, are you more like a friend of mine, who finger-blurts, doesn't...

New-to-me evidence regarding the Big Bang

I wanted to post this in the BDF, but it's not directly about the Bible.... I've been reading Bones of Contention by Marvin Lubenow (1992). It is an in-depth analysis of human/hominid fossils an how they are typically interpreted according to evolutionist theories. Lubenow also included some...

    Somehow I got old...

I happened to glance at my profile page, and I see that I am now a "Senior Member". I'm not sure how I feel about that. Do I get a discount now? Do I have to order half-size portions? When I hang out with my Dad (in his early 80's) I get a better sense of what "old" does NOT look like. He's...

    Shun the unrepentant sinner?

Hi All, With 1 Corinthians 5 in mind, I'd appreciate some perspective on an issue. I recently got to know someone who is (allegedly) a Christian, but by their own admission is "living with" their (unmarried) "partner". I get along well with this person so far, but having found out about their...

How do you view "tithing" in the modern church?

Not sure of the right way to title the question in a short form, so here is the long form... In some churches I have attended, and in some I see on the web, tithing is treated as a requirement. In some, it is treated as a good idea, but not a requirement. In some it is treated as an OT concept...
