Actually, I prefer buffet style dining over sit-down dining. Used to love to go to the Golden Corral. Alas, no such place in the small town that I live in. There is a Chinese buffet / sit-down establishment though. We usually order ahead and pick it up. Good eating.

Years ago, I preferred "all you can eat" buffets. I can't eat like that anymore just because...

I prefer a good sit down restaurant. I have a few favorites where my older kids live.
Mexican food, Sandwiches, Bison burgers, etc...

😀
I'm down with those Bison burgers. They taste good, huh?

Chinese do sushi?
I thought only Japanese and Koreans did it. And I'm Chinese.

huh, learn something new everyday.
Well, I prefer sit-down to get-up restaurants.

But when buffets are good, they are REALLY good and a lot of value for money. Quite rare these days to find one though.
Valentines is no longer, and Imperial Garden is no longer (two buffets I liked) Fortuna is hard to get into and parking wise, a nightmare...I've only ever been on one cruise ship, and they had buffet style breakfast and lunch..wow that was amazing.
Look all I know is it was called a China buffet and it had lots of really good sushi. Take it up with them.

website? Contact details?

Was it run by Koreans?

Once went to a Fusion restaurant called White + Wong.

Egad! No. So confusing. Rice with knives and forks? Paired with wine? I mean what is this. Also, prices through the roof. Paying more for cutlery than the food.

Well... Sushi would probably go well with a nice dry white.

Chinese cook everything. Rice must be hot. Fish must be whole, steamed or fried. No seaweed, we have sea cucumbers. If we are to roll anything, it would be deep fried spring roll or a steamed rice roll, with shrimp inside, doused in soy sauce (not the little soy sauces in those plastic fish bottles) and no Kikkoman, it has to be Pearl River.

Fish if it has any sauce, would have black bean sauce, and must have fresh ginger and spring onion garnish. None of this pickled ginger/wasabi combo. If the sauce has to be hot/spicy, it will be some chillis in soy sauce on the side.

All dim sum is steamed. It is not served cold!

So... Serve the wine heated. Right. Got it.

Me thinks you need a class in Asian cuisine.
Myself thinks you need a class in humor. I'm still riffing on your line about pairing wine with food.

So you still pair wine with food, but you drink the wine while you are cooking, not while you are eating the food. Got it.

My wife and I went to the Golden Corral several weeks ago. Everything was so good, I so over ate!

That's the danger with me in a buffet!

Much love!

What, sarcastic humour like yours? That only you get?

No, you use the wine as an ingredient in cooking, you don't drink it.

Do you know how much alcohol is in cooking wine??? If you drank it, you'd be under the table in no time.

It's wine or nothing. Japanese food doesn't go well with beer. Only fried food pairs with beer.

I haven't done any sarcastic humor yet in this thread.

Miso soup I said.

Or green tea.

Othewise, sake. Not white wine. Rice wine.

Japanese do a lot of tempura, so, I think they do drink some kind of beer.

Have you been to a Japanese sushi train? This is where a variety of sushi comes to you on conveyer belts.
That's sort of like a Japanese buffet, except there is no mad rush to be first.

Yes sake pairs with almost all japanese cuisine. But a dry white will work as well.

I've heard of a sushi train, but there you pay by the plate. After you eat you turn in your plates and they count them up and charge you accordingly. I'd rather have a true buffet.

It's not all-you-can-eat which is true buffet

Valentines appears like a buffet, but they charge for each drink, and supposedly limit you to two helpings/plates.

Please don't mix Japanese with Chinese, I mean had you not heard about the Rape of Nanking. Chinese are still sore about that. They don't want to be taken over or occupied by the Japs. Then they'd have to speak Japanese, and eat sushi all the time. NOOO

sushi in chinese is pronounced sosi, and Chinese do not regard it as real food. Its not that they snobs, or the Japanese are cleverer at presentation, but even the Japanese resent that Koreans make and appropriate their sushi. I had a Japanese friend who said that the kind of sushi made in restaurants in the west, is not REAL sushi. Then he went to Europe, and complained they didn't have any fish.

The last I heard, he was trying to introduce salmon to Yemen.

The introduction of grape wine to China has been a bit of a disaster, as well as powdered milk. There are no alcohol regulations in China, so children were getting drunk and babies being poisoned.
