Well I can't find that old thread. Apparently the forum's in-house search function doesn't go back that many years.

So I will make a replica post here:

LOW COST:
There's a local grocery store that serves hot plate lunches. They fry their own potato wedges. Like... They don't pull a bag out of the freezer and fry them up. They slice up potatoes, apply breading and fry them. YUM!

I think a fun date would be get a big bag of tater wedges, all the kinds of sauces we can think of, and spend an evening experimenting with mixing different sauces and dipping tater wedges in them. We could get a sleeve of tiny paper cups for mixing, or just use big plates as mixing palettes, with little blobs of sauce all over them.

HIGH COST:
If money is no object, I think it would be fun to go to Opryland Hotel and rent either two rooms (if she and I are married) or three (if we are not married.) One room will be for the hired staff, with chafing dishes and hot plates, whipping up little bites of interesting snacks on demand. They would shuttle them to where she and I are sitting on a balcony overlooking the Delta area, or maybe the Conservatory area.

Of course we would be sitting on the same balcony, but if we are not married we would retire to separate rooms at the end of the night.

So yeah, two things are pretty clear. I am boring, and I like to eat. Both kinds of dates are fairly low key, and both involve food.

Escape room or a fog date if money was tight. Harmless fun, concealing an exit strategy.

If things weren't going swimmingly, I could leave my date trapped or vanish into the mist. Wouldn't have to contend with pushing on a pull door either. Nothing worse than trying to make a hurried departure and needing a second attempt to open the way out. 😌

Definitely, two rooms.

Just going out with someone, usually the opposite sex, just the two of you, and spending time together for the day or evening. After the date ends, you go back home.

Sometimes it might be something special like a fancy dinner and you both dress up, but it could be just a casual thing like going for a walk on the beach.
Sounds like a good plan, moonlight walk on the beach.

New Year's Eve many years ago , spent it in the graveyard that Count Dracula was supposedly buried in . It's in a churchyard on a cliff top , overlooking Whitby harbour . Pitch black , bright starts shining , overlooking the crashing waves . Magical ❤️ the guy turned out to b married 😞 and he was supposedly a devout Christian .

oh maybe its better to date during the daytime when you can see properly, but then that doesn't always help either.
I'm just saying that to protect myself from vampires. Only... I learned some of them can come out during the day, when it's cloudy.

I only know one sauce or maybe two that go with wedges - sweet chilli sauce and sour cream.

I've (we?) already gone to Wendy's several times. And Ikea for the hot dogs. So it has to be something different...? Not involving food....? But then if my date goes without food, he could starve to death, and I would be responsible for making him hangry. So maybe that isn't a good idea.

Fog date?

I thought of the Rage Room, but don't know if they do pillow fights.
Or..let loose on a drum kit. I have never and would like to try.
Yes...always have an exit strategy.

have breakfast at sarabeth's in manhattan, lunch at gramercy tavern & dinner at Nobu.

I don't think I could fit that all in one day.
Also, would have to fly to New York City and that would take a very long time and cost a lot of money...from Auckland, nz. I don't know if that would qualify for a 'fun' date. Maybe I should just make a thread called 'expensive, fantasy dates'

I mean that could be a fun thing to do (eat) but then I can do that every day without a date, so....?

the vast expanse in choices is as this: "there's always something new with every turn of the earth"!!! it's so important to totally know what you foods to enjoy allowing for the greatest memories in dining.

Go to a buffet or a night market with endless stalls of food?
I have done that, but it can be expensive.
I mean I do like oysters and crayfish. I think going fishing could be fun, and if we don't catch anything, go buy our fish at the market or just have fish and chips.

i used to dine at buffet type places because friends wished it. it was a bit enjoyable. i prefer gourmet restaurants because you can eat food that is rare & special, cooked by a talented chef.

Oh I think everyone would prefer that, but you need to hang around the elite to do so.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm from the wrong side of the tracks for most of these types of people/men and they wouldn't deign to date me.

Chinese food can be gourmet I mean my mum was at talented chef/cook anyway and I ate her food everyday. But whenever we went out, I would try to go to the yum cha restaurants that she liked, because woe betide you if she doesn't like the food. She'll pretend to like it, but will complain about it when get home.

But I suppose a date never does that, because you don't go home with them.

It's not fun going to a gourmet restaurant if your date cannot afford it, then ordering the cheapest thing on the menu.
But if your date CAN afford it and pays for everything, then I suppose go wild and go for the most expensive dish lol

Make sure the fish merchant tosses you the fish, so you can truthfully say you caught the fish. :D
