That is willful blindness. We would have no concept of “heavenly marriage” were it not for earthly marriage. The latter is far more than physical union. Therefore it's totally erroneous to preach earthly marriage as a "foretaste of heavenly marriage with the Lord." Marriage shouldn't be idolized as it has been. The union with Jesus is spiritual, not physical.

No, you would have no concept of "heavenly marriage" if you have no relationship with God through Jesus. Paul never married, did he have that concept? What credibility did he have according to you? That is willful blindness. We would have no concept of “heavenly marriage” were it not for earthly marriage. The latter is far more than physical union.
Miss the point much? No, you would have no concept of "heavenly marriage" if you have no relationship with God through Jesus. Paul never married, did he have that concept? What credibility did he have according to you?
I propose that the physical is only a parable of the spiritual, to make us aware of the components (concepts) that are involved even though some parts aren't directly correlated. Therefore it's totally erroneous to preach earthly marriage as a "foretaste of heavenly marriage with the Lord." Marriage shouldn't be idolized as it has been. The union with Jesus is spiritual, not physical.
OK, then there's no need for earthly marriage in order to experience heavenly marriage.Miss the point much?
Not everyone needs to have every experience for the experience to be commonly understanding in society.
Not on this case. There's no more birth or death in resurrection, no more need for reprudiction, thus no more marriage. Arguing for earthly marriage and using it as a "parable" for the spiritual is making the same mistake of the Sadduccees, who applied the concept of marriage in this life in the next life.I propose that the physical is only a parable of the spiritual, to make us aware of the components (concepts) that are involved even though some parts aren't directly correlated.
Like the parable of having faith "as a grain of mustard seed"... He likely doesn't mean "the same size as" or "being made of plant matter", for instance. Faith isn't measured by a set of calipers... or by a DNA test.
Some parts of an analogy transfer directly... Some not at all.
Again, miss the point much?OK, then there's no need for earthly marriage in order to experience heavenly marriage.
And again, there's no marriage in resurrection, Matt. 22:30. In the Olivet Discourse, marriage was even portrayed in a negative way, like the days of Noah people were marrying and giving in marriage, ignoring the signs of his coming.Again, miss the point much?
“Heavenly marriage” would be absolutely meaningless were it not for earthly marriage. We would have no concept whatsoever of “marriage” if it didn’t exist on earth.
Jesus often used the aspects and concepts of earthly marriage in his teachings towards heavenly principles. Matthew 25:1-13 for example. Not on this case. There's no more birth or death in resurrection, no more need for reprudiction, thus no more marriage. Arguing for earthly marriage and using it as a "parable" for the spiritual is making the same mistake of the Sadduccees, who applied the concept of marriage in this life in the next life.
Oh for goodness’ sake. I shake my head. And again, there's no marriage in resurrection, Matt. 22:30. In the Olivet Discourse, marriage was even portrayed in a negative way, like the days of Noah people were marrying and giving in marriage, ignoring the signs of his coming.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,My point is that we're called by the Great Commission to make discipls, not babies. Our mission field is the nations, not the bedroom. Having nations to preach to or not, leave that to God. Wherever he guides, he provides.
Exactly!I don't understand your point. If not for procreation, which definitely involves sex except for one Person, there would be no nations to preach to.
Nowhere did I ever claim that "there's a spouse dropped from the sky for every good christian". That is more "hubris and unsubstantiated assumtpions" on your part. You did talk about husbands and wives as an established fact, as though there's a spouse dropped from the sky for every good christian.
A husband is not a husband without a wife. All your talking points were built upon the narrative of already married couple.
Are we in the resurrection yet, Lovette?I believe in historical precedents, without any disregard for marriaged couples. My statement is not unsubstantiated, go read Matt. 22:30.
God is the One Who established the marriage relationship. That you equate the relationship God established as "carnal" does not equal God having established what you claim.Marriage is for the carnal mind and this mortal life, there's no marriage in resurrection.
Paul also wrote if you're married, don't seek to be loosed, and if you're single don't seek to be married, and if you marry you have not sinned.Apostle Paul said it is. You're contracting the word of God.
"This I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction." 1 Cor. 7:35
We need to take caution when considering marriage. God admonishes us not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.A wife like Jezebl? Delilah? The Hittite women to Esau? Bethsheba to King David?
Do you believe single persons are the only ones who can see and experience the kingdom of heaven? No married couple can comprehend or experience the kingdom of heaven?"He who finds a wife is a good thing" might be king Solomon's conclusion, but you know what a better thing is? What king Solomon never got to have a mere glance at? The kingdom of heaven.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it."
Well, biblically speaking, what God ordained was the two parent nuclear family. All I can tell you, grandma, is that time has changed, or reverted back to the previous time before WWII, sociologically speaking; two-parent nuclear family is a unique invention of your generation, it had never been a historical norm no matter how much you'd been taught so. Had I ever been foolish enough to chase after any girl, I'd never known Jesus in the first place. The God I serve called me to bear witness of my Lord and Savior, not myself or any earthly relationship, it's all transient. The first chapter of Genesis is the authentic, unadulterated history through the eyes of God, in contrast to the Big Bang narrative from the devil.
The one who is taking anything personally is the one who considers marriage as only a "carnal" relationship, when God's Word tells us otherwise. I pray that you will allow God to open your eyes to the truth concerning marriage.I'm awfully sorry that you've taken it personally. I on the other hand understands that not everything's about me, it's His will, not mine.
God didn't say "After the fall, be fruitful and multiply".In Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
This command was before the fall, yet they didn’t have sex until after the fall.
Using your logic, eating would also be portrayed in a negative way. Are you advocating that we should stop eating? And again, there's no marriage in resurrection, Matt. 22:30. In the Olivet Discourse, marriage was even portrayed in a negative way, like the days of Noah people were marrying and giving in marriage, ignoring the signs of his coming.
Yeah, they were probably getting it on for sure.To me this only proves they didn't have children until after the fall doesn't mean they didn't have sex before the fall.
We have really great conversations too.Again the Bible is not clear if is was a quick or took a long time for the fall to happen. It did say that the Lord walked with them in the garden and we have no idea how many times he did that before the fall. Adam, Eve and God could have had many really great conversations together in the Garden of Eden.
