Actually, it is Skinski7ism that has redefined the terms.
Salvation is not a "divine influence."
It is a transplant, from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.
Why do you twist my words?
Grace is the divine influence on our hearts, not salvation. Salvation is the destination, grace is the means of getting there when it is combined with a working faith.
Here is the definition from Strong's...
Grace - charis
From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).
Here is what the Bible teaches of it...
Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
The grace of God that brings salvation teaches us the way we should go. Grace is God's godly influence on our heart. There it is right there in the Bible defined by Paul.
The object of NT faith is Jesus Christ.
Saving faith = believing in + obeying Jesus Christ's commands and exhortations given by the NT writers.
Yes that is right. Faith is wholeheartedly yielding to the grace of God. The commandments and exhortations of Jesus Christ are all part of God's grace as well as the light of conscience. Faith is therefore what makes grace effectual to the saving of the soul. Believing in and obeying is the same thing as wholeheartedly yielding because one truly believes and agrees.
That's sanctification after salvation (past).
No it isn't. Sanctification is the growth to maturity with an ALREADY pure heart. The heart is made pure through repentance and faith because the iniquity within is purged once and for all.
Peter here is speaking to babes (1Pet 2:2) in Christ...
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The babes in Christ are pure, they just don't know much. Sanctification is when we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is not about sinning less or being wicked less. The wickedness has ceased or one is still under condemnation.
Salvation is from the wrath of God (Ro 5:9) on guilt at the final judgment, because by grace
through faith God has justified, declared one "not guilty" and in "rightwise" standing with him.
Yes salvation is from the wrath of God but that is not all it is. That verse you allude to says this...
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
We are justified by His blood because it is by the blood we approach God with a true heart and are then washed clean...
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
That verse in Romans says we are saved THROUGH Him, that is we are saved via the dynamic of abiding in the Spirit of His life. You omit that from your gospel.
What you leave out of your gospel message is "saved FROM sin."
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for
he shall save his people from their sins.
You instead teach you get "saved IN sin" and thus the sin continues after salvation. That is why you NEVER discuss purity of heart. You cannot discuss purity of heart because a pure heart and sinning don't mix. Thus you have to ignore heart purity and argue in favour of sinning.
The salvation you believe in is not salvation at all. Even David made reference to a heart devoid of guile in relation to the forgiveness of sins...
Psa 32:1 A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Psa 32:2
Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
The salvation you teach is merely a cloak for ongoing guile because you believe that the flesh is sinful. You preach a weak and ineffectual salvation which leaves people still enslaved to sin just freed from condemnation. It is a total deception which tickles the ears of sinners who refuse to forsake their sin.
The meaning of the Greek word repentance is change of mind.
It's cause and its results are not in its definition.
This is an example where you throw reason right out the window. A changed mind necessitates results and that is why Paul preached...
Act 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that
they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
It is impossible to repent and turn to God and keep on sinning and turning away from God. All through the Bible deeds are connected to repentance. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jonah, John the Baptist, Jesus, Paul, Peter, James all connected changed deeds with a changed mind.
You cannot serve Satan with your deeds and serve God with your mind and be saved. No. Such a thing is worldy sorrow. Look at what Paul writes about godly sorrow...
2Co 7:10 For
godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2Co 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
Godly sorrow produces all those things listed in verse 11. The reason Paul would preach repentance proven by deeds was to ensure that the repentance in people was real. Just like how James connects faith and works together, there cannot be one without the other.
This is all very simple. Why would you want to teach a repentance where nothing changes? Do you really want a doctrine where child molesters can enter the kingdom still molesting children? That is insane.
The rebellion of all mankind, prior to faith, is unbelief.
All sin of the born again is forgiven and purified by confession (1Jn 1:8-10).
Sin if forgiven on the condition we are walking in the light.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
You ought not snip select verses and ignore the surrounding context. 1 Joh 1:8-10 do not exist in a vacuum.
One cannot be engaging in wickedness and be walking in the light at the same time. That is impossible.
The false gospel asserts that one can be engaged in wickedness and cleansed because they assert "saved IN sins" and deny "saved FROM sin" like the Bible teaches.
That is why I can quote Romans chapter 6 and no-one who opposes "saved FROM sin" will comment on those verses. Look at all the replies to my posts and there are Biblical passages like Romans 6 which people will not touch. Why is that?
People stick to their out of context proof texts and completely ignore much of the Bible. That is why I call them Bible Butchers.
You are a Bible Butcher Elin.
