Do you think he should read the NT first?
He can read it forward, backwards and 100 times, but if he is not willing to accept the truth he never will understand it.......!

salvation comes to us in three tenses:

we have been saved from the penalty of sin

we are being saved from the power of sin

we will one day be saved from the presence of sin

would you like the Scriptures? :)
Kind of like the Aorist tense verb in John 3:16

Past completed action with present continuing results...

Had eternal life when I believed, am currently having eternal life in the present and will continue to have eternal life into the future for sure :)

yes, good point!

i'd start with the beautiful Gospel of John, and then go straight to Romans. :)
Yeah no doubt like the a, b and c's of biblical salvation...the first oracles of the gospel of salvation for sure......as in MILK TOAST!

Re: Contradiction of WORDS..But

So gecko...why don't you post some validating scripture as every time you pop in you do exactly what you accuse others of doing and when we do post scriptural references you and your COC brethren reject, deny and twist the scriptures to your own demise....So which rock did you crawl off of... Disbelief, Unbelief and or Reject all found in the valley of denial! HAH!
i rst my case

Why should I continue to furnish references, when you don't have the capacity to absorb them. You're mind is made up another post of negativity and sarcasm. You guys better stick Together . You need each other.

That's funny because everything we have said here has been Biblically based. We can't help if you choose not to read and study them.

You are missing the point and are still applying works as part of salvation...salvation is a completed transaction between God and men for the sake of Jesus Christ......Works do not add to our salvation as it is a once for all act....Works do not supplement what Christ has already done...Works do not keep us saved, but are the evidences of a biblical redemption (buy back) that is found in Christ...

An apple tree is an apple tree LONG before it bears the apples...as a matter of fact and apple tree starts with the SEED (being born of incorruptible seed) and grows into a tree (matures) and then BEGINS to bear fruit....it is rather simple and is the basics of what is taught......Just like the tree...we are BORN into the Kingdom of God and just as a babe matures and then begins to walk and talk like a human we are born into God's Kingdom by faith and mature and then begin to bear fruit as we mature!

You had no case to begin with, and keep trusting yourself to earn your way and see how low that will take you......about as low as the smoking pit!

Paul proved your theology to be wrong and I see you have no response.

What Paul says:
1) ye were the servants of sin
2) but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
3) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Note the order of events? Note how Paul put obeying from the heart BEFORE BEFORE BEFORE being made free from sin and servant of righteousness.
Look here sea perch.....If you are willing to deny the simple definitions of the words used, will in the end lead you to faulty conclusions....the word OBEY means to pay heed to, pay attention to and to be attentive to...

PAUL and company PAID ATTENTION to the form of doctrine that had been delivered unto them...so I did respond and you blindly with your coke bottle glasses on rejected the truth of the definition of the word OBEY..so like I said man...good luck claiming your COC works for salvation when you stand before the Lord and he denies you entrance into the kingdom.....maybe you can ask Alexander Campbell to mediate for you and see if that helps or claim that is what the commentary said.......!

HAHAHA you would think I would know the difference having caught about hundreds bass and about a thousand perch growing up...truth be known...underserving of the word bass because at the end of the day it is just like a pesky little perch that steals away the BAIT (truth) and strips the hook for sure!

I suggest you look the word up in a Greek dictionary instead of an English dictionary and see what it meant to a 1st century Christian Believer...Oh that's right ...you and sea perch believe in yourself and water for salvation!

Actually the Greek perfect tense is the one most associated with a past complete action that has present continuing results, like the English "present perfect," I have been saved. The common indication of a perfect verb in Greek is "reduplication using epsilon as the reduplication vowel. Like this, using English font:
if the root starts with L then it is reduplicated to show perfect; root Lu-, perfect LeLu-;
root graph, perfect gegraph-;
root krat-, perfect kekrat-
root so, perfect seso- (so- = root for save)

Eph 2 "
χάριτί ἐστε σεσῳσμένοι" = by grace you are having been saved (periphrastic perfect tense).

I indeed am thankful that the issue was settled in my past and that the salvation continues in the present.

He who began a good work in you will complete it.

Hmm ok gator here is your chance then. Use some scripture to defend your point.
Okay, I will do that. Finally someone with a question without name calling. Since there are several people on this board who despise works and think they have nothing to do with salvation I will list a few of these important Scriptures.

Rom. 2:6; Matt. 16:27; James 2:24; Rev. 20:12; Matt. 7:21; Heb. 5:8-9; 2nd Cor. 5'10; yes, I realize there are a lot of scriptures that just mention faith. But you have to consider all of Gods word not just part of it.
