Praise the Lord that He has seen fit to give us minds capable of independent thought.

Yes, I know that sounds contrary to the theme of the thread. Consider the alternative... that we be automatons incapable of thinking outside narrowly-prescribed constraints. That was (among many) the sin of the Pharisees; Jesus didn't fit in their little "Messiah" boxes. We are all in the process of learning, and aren't able to claim (justifiably) that we "know it all".

The disagreements here can certainly be acrimonious, and I am not above thinking poorly of fellow contributors at times. I think we do well when we take care to distinguish between ideas and the people who hold them. We have no need to insult each other, and there really is little need to be unkind to each other (though what constitutes "kind" is not even unanimous!).

Perhaps we could treat each interaction as though it is with a much-appreciated and valued family member. Feel free to disagree with their position, but remember that they are going to be sitting across from you at supper.

We are still young sis (I am 53 also :)) But I feel your pain. I started to work out in the Gym because of my rapidly growing midsection and rapidly decreasing energy!!
Hahaha fellow young bro, yes we are plenty young still. I use to be a personal trainer, so I think working out is so important. I have been slacking. big time. So true how not taking care causes our energies to flatten and out bellies to bulge, lol. Thanks for your great inspiration. I think it's time for me to step back into the gym. Dang you, lol!!!!

1000 BAMs!!! Yes, dynamic thought is such a beautiful gift that makes choice and choices an option. ABSOLUTELY CONCUR!!! In my humble opinion, as spot on as your gratitude is, seeing the silver lining of different mindsets, your opinion on how we ought to treat eachother makes even more sense.

Oh so u do get, even more so, the importance of taking care of our health. Yes, our grandchildren, our precious grand wee ones, they are our some of our greatest catalysts. We must show, through application, the importance of not giving up on our pursuits to treat our vessels like the temples they are. Boy oh boy, brother, it isn't always easy. Thank goodness eating icecream with them, from time to time, is also good for us, lol.

Hmmmm, now my first thought was BAM, spot on. Then i thought about what I just said to another, about seeing some truth in different interpretations. Now I'm pondering my own thoughts on this matter. I think it is possible and probable, if we study enough, to find 100% harmony in the scriptures, in the One. He does not lie, He does not change and He is a God of order. Finding harmony with other believers, on the other hand is nearly impossible, but thanks be to Him and His word, we have hope.
No.....what I said was spot on....this is absolute-----> the word of GOD will LEAD ALL to the SAME TRUTH if we are honest with the word and context

Let me explain....The serpent added 1 word "NOT" to what God had said.....what did that word NOT do to the whole statement?

You can have 99.9% truth and if you MIX .1% of error, what does it do the the 99.9%?

How much leaven does the bible states will leaven the whole LUMP?

That is the point, there is but ONE message of salvation that is true, there is but one method of baptism that is correct, there is but one central truth concerning everything in the word and OUR fellowship, harmony, walk, etc. if FULLY based upon being in the LIGHT as he is IN THE LIGHT....<---John states this clearly....if WE are in the LIGHT as HE is in the LIGHT WE have fellowship one with another....the reason for a lack of HARMONY among SO called BELIEVERS can easily be deduced to...

a. Many are not true believers
b. Many peddle gospels that are incorrect or gospels that have no power
c. Many are weak and immature
d. Many rarely if ever study other than reading and that doe not cut the proverbial mustard

Contrary to popular belief and error the following truth has NOTHING to do with marriage which is covered in 1st Corinthians...the CONTEXT is set in verse 1...WE then as WORKERS together.....

What....

fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness
communion does light have with darkness
concord does Christ have with Belial
part hath he that believeth with an infidel
agreement hath a temple of God with an idol

This is a very hard truth that MANY cannot swallow......for there to be unity and or harmony ALL must be in tune with the word of God and the Spirit of GOD, walking in the light, actually saved and being submissive to the word......We all have seen this at times and if HONEST will admit that the only time UNITY within the BODY fails is when a MEMBER IS SICK and or one who is not of GOD rises up and scatters the flock.....Hard truth, but true none the less......

I hate to be a wet blanket, but it has been raining a lot here so I will. Although I totally agree with your post, all the while I was listening to it I had this nagging recollection of what Jesus siad. I will paraphrase. "You say I have come to bring peace on earth, nay but I have come to divide you...etc. etc....you know the rest.

I believe I understand what He is teaching here, but I dar no share it in case I am dead wrong, or worse yet, just dead!

It is certain that Jesus Christ came to each one of us in the manner only He knew we needed, so no two people had the same experience in order to be lead to the Father and filled with His Holy Spirit, and this is not just good but wonderful, so we are one in the Spirit because of the HOly Spirit, but often I think that is where it stops for many and for the reasons necessary for this part of the end of what is called time.

Jesus Christ is our everything, amen..
Mat 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Mat 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Mat 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Jesus wants peace among people, and He is the Prince of peace, and said follow peace with all people, with holiness, without which no person shall see the Lord.

That is why the world cannot have salvation because they exalt, and fight with each other, and do not love perfectly, for love is the fulfilling of the law.

So Jesus wants harmony among all people, but the truth is that is not going to happen concerning Him coming to earth to be the Savior, for many will reject Jesus, in which those that believe in Jesus, and those who do not, will be at odds with each other, but so be it, for He had to come and bring salvation, even if it means that people will be at odds with each other, for Jesus was not going to abandon the plan of salvation because some people will reject Him, and fight with the people who accept Him.

In this case Jesus is addressing family members at odds which each other, which this does not mean physical persecution but they are at odds with each other over a disagreement, like they would be at odds with each other over who is the better pro football team, in which it can be a heated argument at times, but not too heated as the world persecuting the saints.

Of course there will be persecution from the world towards the saints, but Jesus is saying that even among family members that love each other they will be at odds with each other over whether they believe in Jesus or not, which you know rarely would develop in to a physical brawl, or a shooting, although they may be verbally outspoken about it.

Because Jesus came it will cause a division in the world among people to where it even affects family members at odds with each other who love each other, and would not want to physically harm each other.

But so be it for Jesus had to come for people need salvation even if people do not believe it, and if it disrupts the peace, oh well, and if family members fight, oh well, people need salvation, and Jesus was not going to abandon that so family members will not fight, which we know that God loves the family to get along, but salvation had to come.

You always seem to find a way to create the most thought provoking threads. I believe you to be a spiritual daughter and humble servant of the Lord. I agree with your mission statement too. As far as being as messed up like the rest of us, perhaps but possibly not quite as much as some of the rest. You have a leader who knows the Way and that says a lot about yourself.

Thank you, Tourist, wow, how kind, much appreciated Brother. You are a blessing to many here, I see, and have been for awhile. I suspect your wife and others would say you are a blessing as well offline. You caused me take a deep breath of His, thanking Him for allowing me the privilege to be one of His. I am in awe of Him. I know you and yours are too. You know... you r so spot on about the Way and His leading us there. Can you even begin to imagine the mess we'd be in without His input and His direction? How can we NOT be humbled by His Magnificence, we owe Him everything?

No, you are definitely NOT being ugly. I know that my dog with a bone with regards to how we communicate to one another has come across like I wish everything said was delivered with the smell of roses. I love discussion and the freedom to discuss a matter out, especially when we don't agree, without it causing a riff in our opinions of another, or cause us to step out of His Spirit into our flesh. I think we can get far in such kinds of debates filled with mindful, well thought out, and researched responses. Brother, Your approach here is spot on and I agree that we should NOT limit our resources to just our time in the word, nor shall we be tossed about simply because we are open to every perception or every interpretation. Heaven forbid, confusion and chaos would definitely surface, more often than not. While I like to think I can see some truths in many positions, (can see why they draw their conclusions), I also have found it impossible for anyone to be 100% spot on. With that said, someone was talking with me about how heated and offensive the BDF can be. I have thought often on this matter. While I think we can all grow and do better, I have learned a thing or two reading opposing views. I think if what we believe can not withstand scrutiny, than what we believe is uncertain. I don't know if that makes sense. I guess it just causes one to go back to the word and study some more. I look forward to knowing as much that many of you know. Not for prideful reasons, but because there is nothing as valuable as the word of God, nothing except God, Himself.
Thanks you for the kind words dear sister.

Yes, you make valid reasonings here. If what we believe cannot withstand scrutiny, then I believe what we have is nothing more than sand.

We must look to the word of God and consistently interpret the texts, use a whole lot of 2 Timothy 2:15, making certain that our understandings of the texts neither pit against other truths (Scripture interprets Scripture) and make certain they are interpreted contextually.

Yes, and rightly stated as well by you, the person of God is exalted by and through his word, in things he reveals to us about his Person, and he is above all.

God bless!

Me too, but then I’m only 50! (Although women don’t sweat, we glow).
