We are spirit, soul, and body. Our spirit is made in the image of god.it says so in genises. Also in John1. As christ is so are we.

You say "works cannot produce life" but yet but doing nothing can produce life? James plainly said by "works a man is justified". Doing nothing produces nothing.
What works shall we add to the finished works of Jesus Christ?? Jesus said on the cross "It is finished". Please look carefully Jesus did not say I am finished but it is finished.

Frankly the book of James is beyond your ability to comprehend on a Spiritual level. You are not able to take milk let alone meat.

Nothing you can do can produce anything of merit in the light of what Christ has done. Stop holding back and give it all to Jesus.

This question seems to open up a can of worms. However did we recieve salvation because we were good? What did we do to deserve Christ's love?

Rom 9:16 "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy"

God extended mercy/grace to mankind not because of any willing or running man did.

Yet for man to receive that mercy/grace God has extended is conditional upon man's willing and running, Jn 7;17; Rev 22;17; 1 Cor 9:24; Heb 12:1

Jesus is speaking that His work is finished that His Father sent Him to earth to do.

What Jesus did on the cross was for every man, Heb 2:9, yet every man will not be saved. Is that because Jesus' work is not sufficient to save every man? No, it has to be sufficient for Heb 2:9 says it is. Then is it because every man will not obey Him, Heb 5:9, thereby not take advantage of the what Christ did on the cross? Yes.

Oh dear dear SeaBass, the thing is you do not know how spiritually bankrupt and retarted we are. We are so spiritually darkened and so spriritually debilitated that we can not even get our sorry selves to the Kings office to pick up the wonderful free "car". Alas, we do not have the ways or the means to do it.

Oh how we tried to go in our own strength like you keep posting SeaBass. Our flesh wanted to and at times "thought" it had arrived! - but - the flesh was too weak even when it got "serious" and got "religious" and wanted to - but it was just toooo far and difficult and impossible a journey. We couldn't follow the directions!!! It was impossible to follow because we couldn't read the writing, it was not in a language we could even understand.

Just when we thought it was a hopless situation, it was Then the KING "HIMSELF" sent HIS ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST to pick up our sorry selves and Jesus took us by the hand and drove us to the office and He got the gift HIMSELF for us and then said to get on board!!!!:D
He drives the car Himself and we have been following Him ever since :D
Was Abraham so "spiritually darkened" that he was not able to choose to obey God by leaving his land, house, kindred and offer Isaac, Heb 11:8,17? Gen 4:7 was Cain so "spiritually darkened" that he could not choose to do well and rule over sin as God told him to do? Were those Jews in Acts 2 so "spiritually darkened" they were not able to choose to obey Peter's commands, verse 38?

And yet you persist in attempting to add to it? What is wrong with you? Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost.

Take a step back and look at yourself. You are asserting that since some will not get saved that none are saved. John 3:18-19 Jesus tells us why many are not saved. We also know from other references that it is not Gods will that any should perish. What shall we make of a man that thinks he knows more than God?

Ladylyn. We have everything we need spirtually.it is our natural flesh keeping us from gods benifits. Not sin nor spiritual lack but our own fleshly thinking

Obedience to Christ is part of it, Heb 5:9.

You are saying what Christ did on the cross is enough for man to be saved and therefore man has to do nothing.

My question is then why isn't every man saved if Chris't work is all that is needed for man to be saved?

YOu say Jn 3:18,19 explains why all men will not be saved which says:

[SUP]18 [/SUP]He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

So are you know saying Christ's work is not finished without you believing? So you have to ADD YOUR BELIVING to Christ's finished work?

Combining Jn 3:18,19 with Heb 5:9 we see that not believng is the same as not obeying...Jn 3:36 ASV "He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him."

So only those that conditionally obey/believe take advantage of Christ work on the cross and the obedience/belief earn nothing but are necessary conditions upon the free gift of salvation.

oh, so you do not need to read the bible?
No, I do not own one. I have the Spirit of Truth,
which you can read in your bible,
is sent to teach and guide those
into all truth, whom
are born of the Spirit

The only time I have anything to do with the bible
is when I deal with souls like you.

you have not proved anything,

If your going to try to do something to earn a gift, you are not going to be in heaven, God will not accept filthy rags (our work) as payment for sin.

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you,
that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God:
but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

God gave to me, a great measure, of the Spirit of Wisdom. This make me wise.
Apparently, God wasn't able to give you enough wisdom to also make you humble.

Oh well... you can't have everything.
