One of the slightly confusing things about getting set up on here. Your profile picture is what people see when they visit your profile, but the picture that you see posted alongside forum discussions or chatrooms is called your avatar. So yeah your profile pic is showing up on your profile (and you can change your settings so only friends, or only CC members can see it), but you probably don't have an avatar set.
