Date first and ask questions later. By later, I mean after each date. Dating is an evaluation and encouragement process. Of course, you should not enter into a marriage without a thorough understanding of who that person is. It helps very much to have confidence in yourself as to who you are as that is the basis of deciding in your heart what your expectations are for a future mate. The wise will allow God to be the arbiter for deciding whether to continue the pursuit or stand down. It is a sad thing for me to read in these posts that there are those that have never even been kissed, yet alone, made love. So much fear and anxiety. Finding and keeping that special person to spend the rest of your life with is an adventure only for those brave enough to open their heart for the pursuit of happiness.
I've been interested in women and pursued some but they always ended up already being in a relationship, engaged or married. Or they weren't interested. Tintin only seems to be popular on CC, he's pretty much invisible or a great guy friend in real life. Yes, I have a fear of rejection and I'm not the most confident person but I'm working on that with God's help. I don't stalk the ladies but I don't wait for women to fall into my lap either. Still, I'd love to be married and have children, some day.

You are OK. You are in the chase and that is a good thing. You are definitely popular and respected on CC, that is my opinion. It seems to me that you have plenty of confidence in yourself. As far as relationships go it is not the quantity but rather, the quality. I wish the best for you and have said a prayer as well. You never know what flora or fauna God will wash on your shore in the morning. Good hunting!

Cheers, mate! To be honest, I only want one wife. I'm not a Mormon! But seriously, yes, I'm looking for quality over quantity. And she must be a Christian, but not a baby of the faith.

It's interesting how "dating" can be interpreted or defined differently in different cultural context. Like for instance, where I come from, dating is done between two person who are in a relationship only.

Just because ones heart is hardened to the concept does not make the principal of God illegitimate
For the same reason, just because ones heart may become hardened within a marriage...
does not make that reason for a divorce legit.
for some reason i doubt my heart was hardened at the tender age of 16. Im just countering people who say you form a bond when you sleep with someone. Its not always the case. Sometimes you do and sometimes you dont. I mean i'd say out of the people I slept with in my younger years, I would have married about 1/none of them. To be fair I wasnt saved at the time but yeah. Even as a christian I think two people can have sex and it be just sex. Should they? No, but it happens.

Dating is a very american term, over here in europe the equivalent always involves fornication, which is why i do get confused about born again christians who talk about dating. It seems to me that implies some level of flirtation, which implies some open doors to lustful thoughts, which in the new testament is the same as fornication.

I find the safest route on this, is to let go of personal attempts at matchmaking and trusting God to connect people in such a way that they both receive confirmation that it is of Him and can trust a pastor and an assigned chaperon to "monitor" the courtship process.

I say this after many failed attempts at leaning on self invented and overly independent ways to find the right person. I just don't even think God wants us to be trying any of that, i think He brings it when He's ready, and then our job is to keep things holy while He makes it all unfold, without straining or struggling or seducing or manipulating or flirting or "dating". I think it should just sort of happen, by His own very will.

Can't believe I'm the first one to say this:

No need to apologise. I'm really not sure, I'm confused. I know people who say you must only date a person who you intend marrying. By 'no questions asked', I meant that they're taught or believe that it's sinful to date in any other manner. Such an approach though can lead to ill-timed and ill-conceived marriages. You have to know a person well before you can choose to spend your entire remaining life with them. I've never been in relationship, maybe that's why I'm confused. Do you understand a little of what I'm driving at?
sorry for jumpin in,...
But even after long datin, things can get messed up..
With Jesus there is a Perfect Christian Prayer filled Married life...

Tintin,Pray and date...:)....so it doesn't get to anything physical without marriage..
Maybe none of my business, just saying brother if you want to have a life partner.

At the end,its all about Covenant and Commitment..
Its not what movies show.

If its india in general that will be wrong. To get a date is different depending on the circumstance.
To get a date can be official too...so there is no fixed meaning..

I have never understood the whole concept of dating. It seems to be an odd ritual that we are conditioned to participate in by society in general. It always made me a bit uncomfortable anyway.
