I've been recently dealing with some really difficult things that life has thrown at me so, and this past week has been incredibly difficult emotionally for me. I lost one of my closest friends and I am really really struggling to cope with that. If you could keep me in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
Oh no... :( Will do, bugeye.

I'm really sorry to hear that. It sucks a lot losing someone so close. I will be praying for you and everyone else close to him, and I do hope and pray that you would even feel God really near to you as you grieve.

I just have to say that I'm really thankful for a God who helps us carry our burdens, and in a sense takes the weight of them away. I have really felt convicted in the past about being a selfish person. I just feel like a lot of what I do--habits I have, thoughts I think, etc.--is really self-serving. Over the past couple of weeks God has given me a lot of opportunities to lay myself down in a sense, and it has really humbled me. One thing I appreciate a lot is when people in my life will take time to help me out in some way, so I feel really grateful to God when He will use me in another person's life because I feel like the wrong person for the job (and in a lot of ways, I am in and of myself).

I know that I quote Matt Chandler way too often (I almost wish I didn't because I named my username after him and it makes me sound obsessed haha). But one phrase that I've had in my head for awhile now related to being unselfish is "ringing out your life" for the glory of God and the good of those around you. In the context of marriage, he talks about the man "ringing out his life" for his family. Every time I heard that, I ached to be that kind of man, but then thought "How am I going to get there when so much of the way I live my life seems to be for myself?" I have to say, though, that I have consistently found myself exhausted at the end of the day over these past couple of weeks. This week especially I feel like every single day has been "rung out" as I've gone to work, gone to class, and had some opportunity to help meet a need, even in a small way. And I get home around 10pm and wish I had 12 hours to sleep haha. But I just praise God for the way that He has given me a more selfless and generous attitude than normal lately and has shown me the joy that exists in that. I hope it can keep up like this for a little while.

I don't like to see people who are helpless to suffer or having to stay in an environment that is completely destructive to them, I think that's the worst type of suffering there is.
Like people with special needs who are unable to do things for themselves or unable to communicate.
I was thinking about my stepsister today who was both mute and down syndrome and it made me cry because I don't really believe her mom is the best care for her and I fear for her going into a group home one day
Her mom is also not living a Godly lifestyle and I hate that it effects her the way it does.

This today also.

Just wanting you to know, Lil, that I've been praying for ya. I'm glad today went okay. *hugs*

Bugs, I am praying for you too. I'm sorry about your friend. May the Lord draw near for you while you grieve.

What is your favorite sim? I'm assuming it gets more realistic than Gran Turismo, but I'm not up to date with the latest racing sims these days.
I would say my favorite racing title is "rFactor 2". It is an open ended racing title, meaning the community can develop content (cars and tracks, mainly) for the sim.

It also has a very advanced physics engine. It will simulate the tires getting damaged if you lock up the tires. Also, the track's grip will improve dynamically as you drive more, by simulating rubber getting laid down on the track.

It will simulate tire damage if you lock 'em down? And your nick is Leadfoot? Hmm... Get a lot of tire damage? ;)

But wait a minute.

What if I want a "Knife Fight With Mark" that results in a free haircut? Do I still have to pay a tip???

And not too much off the top, please.

Thank you so much for posting this: I've been looking for a gluten-free (my hair is allergic to gluten) free-range organic haircut forever.

You'll have to take that up with Mark. :p Hair cutting per knife fight is not gluten free.

What!!??? There was gluten in that free hair-cutting knife fight!!!??? I'm sensing a big lawsuit here!!

Not to mention a lot of swelling because of the gluten.

Well, at least the barber was free-range. I don't believe in going to barbers who are kept in cages and given non-organic feed.

Or maybe the free-range reference was actually for the knives...

I'm really looking forward to a chill evening tonight. I sort of backed out of a commitment I had made just because I really need a night to breathe in and out a little before I head into a busy weekend. I'm grabbing dinner with a friend at 7:30 and then heading home to chill for the rest of the evening :D

Didn't you just create a thread where you talked about getting free donuts with filling? :D

But... but... the filling was gluten-free.

After that, who cares about the donut!!!

Siberian, I implore you not to use my own words (or confessions about eating donuts) against me!

I will acquiesce to that if you agree to pay me in free doughnut coupons!
