If I was to have a family:

Homeschooled children is a must unless circumstance dictates otherwise

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Copy-pasta verse from following website because i didn't remember the reference number 20 Important Bible Verses for Parents]

Education is a responsibility put on parents, not the government. I also want to honor God with education, by teaching children to obey him not to teach them to obey worldly beliefs.

Stay at home mother

Titus 2

[SUP]3 [/SUP]Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,[SUP]5 [/SUP]to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God

Before/after children is possibly a different matter. There is a possibility I could take over a farm that would require a lot of labor, which would mean many tasks I would simply not be able to do. That would be a situation where it would be favorable even after children.

I would be saying yes to one woman, and no to the other 3 billion.

Ephesians 5
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. [SUP]23 [/SUP]For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. [SUP]24 [/SUP]Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her [SUP]26[/SUP]to make her holy, cleansing[SUP][b][/SUP] her by the washing with water through the word, [SUP]27 [/SUP]and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. [SUP]28 [/SUP]In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. [SUP]29 [/SUP]After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— [SUP]30 [/SUP]for we are members of his body. [SUP]31 [/SUP]“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[SUP][c][/SUP] [SUP]32 [/SUP]This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. [SUP]33 [/SUP]However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Very brief synopsis. Certainly a lot more that would be relevant.

I believe it is the best way to honor God in education, because public schools are at war with Christianity, and many private schools are dysfunctional. I'm a Public Education major, and the more and more that I see, the more and more that I hate it.

Sometimes when eyes are opened to the truth, we begin to hate things we once thought were okay.

When i first went into high school, i was utterly shocke by some many things. The robotic nature of the kids, they didnt have any curiourity to see if what they were being taught was the truth. To me school is a way to brainwash children.
But many do not have the means to home shcooled so that also somethin that should be mentioned.

I was raised in a Baptist home and then my parents were divorced. Stuff followed. Then, we returned to a Baptist church. More stuff followed. Then, my Sophomore year of High School, I truly gave my life to Christ. Yes, I had moments of repentance and following Him as a younger gal, but it wasn't until that year, 1995, in September, that I truly had an encounter with the living God. :) So, my life began to rapidly change, much to the dismay of my friends. But, you know what? They stayed my friends. Those two teens in High School were more loyal to me than anyone else ever has been since in this mortal frame, sans Jesus, of course. :)

Anyway, I said all that to say this: one day, as I walked into my art class, a girl was reading from the satanists bible. She was quite happily reading about original sin and the five or so students in there, who all knew I was a Christian due to something God had me do early on (another story for another time), were caught up in her words, consuming them eagerly. I put my things down and sat there and waited until she finished. I then said, "So, uh, what does that book say the original sin was?"

"Sex," she replied, happily.

"Wrong," I said and everyone looked at me. "God created sex. Sex is a good thing in the plan of God. Original sin was disobedience. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. That was the original sin." There was silence and she put the book away and never opened it again in my presence. She may have read it later. In fact, I'm sure she did. But, those other students, and even she, had something to consider: truth. And, in light of that truth, the hold of satan is weakened and sometimes completely lost. :)

So, yes, public schools are getting worse and worse, yet, we are called to be light-bringers. I am not, in any way, against homeschooling. As I am looking into adoption, I would love to have my little girls homeschooled...at least at first. But I can see the value in our sons and daughters being armed and dangerous for God in the public schools. Can you?

I take no credit, by the way, for the wisdom I possessed that day. I was newly saved. I firmly believe that Holy Spirit granted me said wisdom. I was, after all, only 17 or so years of age (I believe I was a Junior at this point...but I could have been a Senior) and had yet to fully grasp the magnitude of such a truth. :) It was God and God alone that had those words for me to speak, to banish the darkness and the lies. A willing heart, that God can use. :)

Seven hours of indoctrination, and one hour of devotions? I wouldn't accept it. There is little educational value in the public school system.

We are supposed to be in the world and not of the world. Truly, I believe the gravest danger is keeping the light out of the schools in a need to protect out kids. Can we truly protect them? I daresay we cannot. What happens when they go to college? Yes, we have trained them and taught them, but have they been sharpened? It's like this site. It is here that I learn how to sharpen my sword, if you will, with Biblical truth. I learn what things may confront me when witnessing in the non-virtual world. Though I sometimes feel that I didn't learn much in school, I know that I affected many lives for Christ, as I was young, on fire, and passionate for Him and that is contagious. :) I believe that we need to train and teach our youth how to truly be warriors for Christ. I believe that we are sending them into the school system and teaching them how to blend in and not stand out. Stand up and stand out for Christ and change the world...starting in the local schools, neighborhoods and towns where God has placed us for such a time as this! :)

We must teach our children the importance of God, not focusing on other stuff that will be useless later on in life.
if we have a strong knowledge and faith in God we will be equipt for all the hurdles

There are many ways to sharpen iron without subjecting children to indoctrination and propoganda.

Wow. You just really hate the public schools. I get it. Just know, not all teachers are demonic, not all schools are bad, not all youth benefit from home schooling, not all parents can do so.

Why should I love a system that stands completely against God?

Why should I love pornography? Is it not rebellion? So why should I love something else that is just as bad, and in fact promotes pornography, fornication, and rebellion against parents?

Also, I have not said all teachers are demonic. I've had a few good ones along the way, but a few drops of soap doesn't clean a bathtub full of dirty water. I believe most teachers engage in the worst of the indoctrination because they are demanded to do so. Most teachers, I think unless required to do so, wouldn't even think about it. The system is the biggest problem.

As far as parents and benefits. Not all youth benefit from public schools. Many large cities have 50% drop out rates. Most teachers are no more of an expert than you or anyone else in this thread.

To conceive of teachers as experts is a bit of a joke in the majority of situations.

I get what you're saying. :) As I mentioned, it isn't for everyone, but Jesus also did not tell us to leave this world to its destructive ways and let everyone go down in a blazing fire. So, we must equip our youth to engage in the spiritual warfare in the public schools and in the world, otherwise we are sending them out to be slaughtered. Some can't afford to homeschool. So what's the alternative? Just send them in and hope they make it through or help them learn what it means to be a true follower of Christ and wage war on the darkness of this world?

I had hard times in school, too, but I know that God used me there as well and that matters more to me than anything else.

No, it's not a leap. Maybe you were spared from it. Schools today are teaching children that homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and pornography are normal and acceptable. That if you disagree with homosexuality, your a homophobe and your parents are homophobes. That those who object to fornication and pornography are mentally disordered. Maybe you were spared from it. Rural schools tend to not advocate it as actively as more urban schools.

You can find pornography and homosexuality and adultery and fornication in churches where it is being accepted as the norm and overlooked. You find this pretty much everywhere. It is the parents job to teach their children the truth. So, yes, send them to schools but arm them with the truth, which goes back to my original response. Truthfully, to avoid all this, you'd have to become a hermit and live far away from society. But, we all know that didn't help Lot and his daughters. So, what's the answer then? It isn't to run away and hate, it is to equip and engage. Otherwise, we are leaving those that aren't being equipped by their parents to fend for themselves and that is where the battle is lost. If we teach our kids to do the right thing regardless of what the world does and says and we teach them the truth and we help them to realize the difference between knowing of God and personally knowing God, then we can send our kids to school with the assurance that they are fully dressed in the armor of God and prepared to engage.

I wasn't spared these things, but they don't define me, because I was protected by God due to my relationship with Him and knowing His word. I carried my Bible with me every single day. Don't let your kids leave their swords at home. How many youth and adults attend church these days without even bringing a Bible? It is astounding to me. Where did they learn that? What are we teaching them? I have a Bible in my office at work, many at home, one in my backpack, some on my Kindle Fire...never leave home without it.

The stay at home mom.... is probably easily the most noble thing a woman can do. I can't help but be somewhat repulsed of women who don't want to do this.
That's funny, because I can't help but be repulsed by people who are repulsed by ladies who don't want to be stay-at-home-moms.

By all means, do not marry someone who does not share your goals. But a lady who does not want to be married... is repulsive to you? Someone who wants to marry but not have kids? That's repulsive?

The bible is quite clear that there is nothing wrong with remaining single. So, if God is not repulsed by it, then why are you?

At the risk of sounding like a meme or a bumper sticker: Hater's gonna hate. :p
I wouldn't take those kinds of comments too seriously. No matter how you live your life, there is always someone who is going to think badly of your choices. And there will always be someone more religious than you who thinks your choices are not as godly as theirs. You can't please everyone with your life. And it isn't your job anyway.

God knows us as individuals, and He knows what is right for us all. Other humans don't.

Jimmy, you had some good points and then the leap of logic you made, just made you look ridiculous. Myst is right, we're to be light-bringers, not closeted Christians. I'm a Christian primary school teacher in the private school system and it's not messed up. Some Christians are called to public schools (not me) and others to home school but homeschooling isn't for everyone (nor are the others). Even in private schools there's plenty of work (God's) to be done as most students aren't Christian. Shine your light, let the world see that Jesus lives in you!
