Although I was never a Boy Scout, I'm a firm believer in their motto "Be Prepared". Would I consider myself to be a "Prepper" in the more common use? No. However I do believe in being prepared for the unexpected. I do keep a bit of extra food stored in a closet just in case. Just in case I'm short of grocery money sometime, just in case a natural disaster happens and the grocery store shelves end up empty, just in case.............
In most major natural disasters the huge need for food and water in the disaster zone is because people are just accustomed to there being food on the shelves of the grocery store. They don't realize that the stores get a truck load of food every day to restock their shelves and in the event of a natural disaster those shelves run empty quick.
It doesn't cost a lot to become minimally prepared. Just buy an extra can (a couple of dollars) of something every time you go shopping and store it outside the kitchen so that it doesn't accidentally get used. Depending on how often you go shopping, within a few months you'll have several days to a week worth of worth of food stored.
Your saying "just in case", means to be (from my understanding of God by His word), "just in case God fails me". In a situation of nation desaster in America, the only way we can endure is by Faith. As the condition of the Nation would be in utter lawlessness. People will go crazy and either kill for food, or be dependent on the government totally for everything, ooorr if you're one of God's Elect, you will be provided what is necessary to sustain your life if you have the faith and trust that God will do it, just as He as promised. As it is now, He is providing you and your family (if any?), what is necessary to sustain life. We as Believers must believe that God can and will sustain at least the lives of us and whomever else He's chosen through a time like that.
I'm convinced the fact that the government is getting more and more people completely dependent on it is severely serious for us to be discerned about. It is an attempt by Satan to take away God's sovereign control of your life, which we
know is guaranteed Salvation by God's sovereign decree. We should not worry about things like that so much. Look at what the Israelites went through because they began to doubt God's sovereign grace to sustain their lives in the desert, even though they experienced His divine impartation of food from heaven, they still began to doubt, and look what happened to them because of that,.. We must not be caught in a state of spiritual weakness like that, like they were. We must be strong and faithful[:
