I want to be a SAHM someday. Perhaps when they are all in school I can get a part-time job during the day, or somehow work at home, but still be available most of the time to do motherly things, take care of the house and pets, etc. :)

That's just my preference, though. I don't think women have to stay home, and I don't think women have to work either. I think it depends on what the financial situation is, what the couple decides on, and how the woman views her job. I also don't think that whether or not a woman stays home to raise the kids is an automatic indicator of how "good" of a mother she is. I know some women who work and still lovingly and successfully raise their kids.

I wonder if a lot of it is how you are raised? I didn't quite read every response in this thread, but I saw some responses of how they were raised is similar to how they want to be. Though it could be the opposite of what they want, i.e. "My mom was never home, so I want to stay at home with my kids."

My mom worked from home, thankfully she had a job that allowed her to do so. She stayed at home, and her mother helped out a bit as well, considering my mom had a 2 year old and infant twins! I'm not quite sure how much she worked, even from home, during that time. That's quite a handful in and of itself. ;)

ITs always the womans fault men dont feel manly... you didnt know that?
I love it when the spouse is blamed for someone's choice to have an affair, whether the husband or wife. It's like, dude, really? Who had the affair? Why is it the other person's fault?

We live in a world where we are taught to blame others. Why are you like this? It's because your parents hugged you too much or not enough. It's because society taught you to be this way. It's because you were raised in a single-parent home. It's because you were raised in a typical two-parent home. It's because you're an only child. It's because you're the eldest child. It's because you're the youngest child...or the middle child. It's because you're a man. It's because you're a women. :)

Adam pointed. Then Eve pointed. The blame game was born and it continues on and on and on. :)

That is what is so awesome about belonging to and knowing Christ. There is no blame game. It's simply, "Yes, Lord. Forgive me of my sins and help me to change."

This chick isn't having children.
For one - I'm not really a kid person
For two - I can't carry children
For three - I don't know if I'm even interested in any kind of relationship
For four - I'd get bored at home unless I lived on a farm or ranch. I would love that.

I don't know if it has to do with independence. I'm very independent and I still want to be a stay at home mom.

Also, it depends on the job that the woman has, the man's work schedule along with the woman's work schedule (when exactly childcare would be needed) and the childcare they'd choose, but childcare + gas to get the kids to and from childcare is sometimes just as costly as the mother not working and losing her income.

I'm kinda really afraid to actually read any posts here except the first one. Is it as much of a train wreck as I suspect?
