Now can we all get back to the op Question: is it ok for a man to cry? a simple yes or no from you mitspa would of been easier. but no! you had to stick your mouth before mind action in and derail the op. It's only you that had derail this thread by going on about crying like babies and girls and women being emotional. read what people are saying, there are other people's replies and comments here to be heard for the OP too.
Didn't know you was a Mod...and I have had my say...don't want to get any of you guys too upset...you know what might happen? LOL

But I will say...men should act like men...not girls and babies... :p

I remember two very distinct times I've witnessed my father cry: the first was when I was about 9 years old and we had just come home from the church picnic. A very well-known, popular church member had also been there who was a police officer, and he had been called away on the middle of the picnic on a routine stop for a speeding ticket. The person driving the car had a gun and started shooting. That picnic was the last time we saw him alive.

Our family was gathered around the radio listening to the events fold out one by one. And my Dad had tears running down his face as he hugged me and my siblings close. The officer who was killed had two young children about our age.

The second time I heard my Dad cry was some time after I'd had a suicide attempt (about a year after my husband left for his girlfriend) that had landed me in the hospital for a week. I will never forget my Dad's loud, agonized sighs as he paced back and forth in the emergency room.

Many years after this, when I was about 35 years old, the Holy Spirit convicted me to call and apologize to my parents. I was trying to tell them I was sorry... that they hadn't raised me to think that way... and instead of chewing me out like so many others (including in the church) had over the years, my Dad was so overwhelmed with emotion I could hear the tears in his words as he said, "Well honey, it's water under the bridge. We are just... so glad... that... you are still with us." I had to wonder if, instead of yelling at me or condemning me, this was what God was trying to tell me as well.

I was pretty choked up too.

What if every person was blessed enough to see that their father loves them so much... that he has cried over them.

I'm curious, do men see it as a weakness to cry??? I mean David cried, Jesus cried, Samuel cried, who was the weeping prophet? A lot of guys cried back then.

I mean I can understand for some guys it takes a lot to get them to cry. My father for instance is a quiet man that is often seen as stoic. But when my sister left from her first visit home in a long time, he welled up. And I mean it doesn't mean you have to full on break down, but isn't it refreshing to let a little emotion out every so often?

Looking down at the bottom of the page... there sure are a lot of users reading this thread right now. ^.^

My first reaction was "Eh, give Mitspa a few years. He'll run into those situations that can make a grown man cry." But then I see he is 46 years old. Hmm... it may be too late for him. He may already be well on the road to being a cranky, crusty, crabby old man. Kinda sad, those usually find themselves as lonesome old pharts because they've driven all their friends away. Unless they find a friend or two who is like them - then they spend their declining years sitting around the table complaining about everything they think is wrong with the world.

Direct question to Mitspa: Have you never cried when you pray?

Did you say ACTING or playing like a man?

I bet you had your own issues, like everyone else has it.

I´m not judging, but I know it: I´ve been there.
Another thing about a man...He knows who he is and don't need others to go along with him to know the truth...Men should act like men and not be on some emotional roller coaster ride...and you guys don't have to kiss up to these girls to get them to like you...if you have to do that...you don't need a woman that wants you to be a woman ! Be a man and God will bring you a woman that can submit to who He desires you to be...a leader and the head of your family.

In spite of those Biblical "examples", what about todays men?

I also have seen "manly" women who played that role better, yet they don´t whine.

Yeppers.

And he knows that he is single.

And he knows why that is.

And seeing as he must have peace with that, God bless him on his way.

I would love you to say that to River_stone, God bless that guy, he has a heart of gold, I heard him cry in prayer, his prayers and his heart for people is amazing. I expect to hear comments like yours from heartless people. You have not upset anyone, just showed how heartless and your thoughtless comments truly are. Whether you meant this to happen, or not, your actions was clearly noticed, so people are not upset. they just saw the true person in you are. I pray that God will cover heartless heart with real love and compssion.

Of course you had your say, you had your fun for the evening, you stuck your ore in, put the spanner in the works, of course you have, but all for what?

I personally don't see it a weakness for a man to cry, I really don't know were these people come from who think these stupid meanings from. Mitspa has his own theory of life, lets not try to get sucked in to it.

You guys are so spiritual...its amazing! Maybe one day I will be so spiritual I can insult others and challenge their faith just because they don't think men should act like women and children....how horrible that a man would dare say that a man should act different? I have already said that I am moved to tears by the beauty and goodness of Our God...but what is been discussed on this thread is far from that and a rejection of the stability that God has called men to.... Now in part I was joking some..and trying to be a little funny...I have laughed ...But in all honesty ...men are not supposed to be as emotional as what has been expressed on this thread...If that offends some of you and you want to "unsave'' and insult me? Then that's your choice and I promise...I wont cry about it :p

Yep I say it...am I not allowed to have an opinion other than the folks on this thread? Let me also express that other men have this same opinion and when woman are not around speak often along these lines...but somehow when they get around woman they act differently and say things they think woman want to hear...very odd ;)

Of course it's ok for a man to cry!!! it's not healthy to bottle up emotions whether you are a man or a woman. It takes a lot of courage to face up to your feelings and admit to feeling weak and vulnerable and I think this applies more so to men due to the social and cultural expectations put on them!

Arguing with ignorance is a waste of time and energy. Don't feed it, guys. Just ignore it :)
