***Okay so there will be major spoilers on here. If you have not seen the movie, I suggest you leave this thread. I wouldn't want to ruin it for you. You have been warned.***

Okay so to anyone who saw it...what did you think? Did you enjoy it? Was it what you were expecting and how does it compare to the rest?

Personally, I loved it! I thought it was great and I really grew to like the new characters, especially Rey and Poe. I can't say I liked Finn very much...
 he kinda reminded me of those stupid Disney Channel shows they have now like "Shake it Up" and "Dog with a Blog"....lame and cheesy!

I was also very upset with who they killed. That was awful and I hope Kylo Ren gets what he deserves. I hate him already!

Who do you think is Snoke is? Is that Darth Plagueis?
What about Rey? Is she Luke's daughter? Ugh so many questions were left unanswered...:(

But overall it was great! Everything fit well with the story line and it wasn't boring in any parts.

I hope you all enjoyed it as well.

Good...my point wasn't to tell you all anything. I wanted to bring about discussion. Once that starts, I'm sure there will be spoilers.

Snoke is Andy Serkis. DUN DUN DUN :p

The movie felt too much like a Disney movie - I think part of it was Finn's overacting (just about everyone overacted to some extent). A lot of the first 30 - 60 mins felt like one big chase scene, too. I was probably most disappointed with how unoriginal it was, though; it mirrored episode IV far too much.

Kylo Ren was interesting─ until he got his butt whooped. I'm really hoping the plot is developed better in the next movie. The Force Awakens exhibited traits more along the lines of a "reboot" than a sequel and continuation of the saga.

But even with all that said, I had fun watching it. The visuals were great, the musical score (thank you John Williams) was awesome, and all of the little Easter eggs were fun! The Empire Strikes Back remains my favorite.

How do you quantify the experience of a new Star Wars film when you've been a fan for some 26 years of your life? How do you write a review that does justice? The simple answer: you don't. But try you do, even if there is no try.

Let me say this, The Force Awakens is both familiar and very different. It's very much like Star Wars: A New Hope (beyond being an introduction to this next trilogy), but as if it had been made in an alternate universe. Great respect is paid to the original trilogy, but this is a different beast. It’s not a Lucas picture, and that shows. In some ways that’s very, very good news, in other ways, it’s missing that little je ne sais quoi. Great action abounds within an above average script. There’s a surprising amount of humour. Acting is rather good and the practical effects keep both the story and visuals grounded. Fans are treated to many nods to the original trilogy, not least of all the familiar faces of Han Solo, Leia Organa, Chewbacca etc. Welcome back, guys!

Our new protagonists, Finn and Rey, are excellent leads and incredibly likeable. Within the first few minutes of meeting them, you want them to succeed in their mission. They have the kind of chemistry you just don’t find in the prequels. More than a few new characters didn’t receive enough screen time, which was a shame, but perhaps that will be rectified in the next two movies. I definitely enjoyed the film more in retrospect. There were some parts I was like: no, and then as the movie continued, I was like: okay, that makes sense. I like it! I also enjoyed the manner in which The Force was developed further.

Having only seen the film once, I have to admit my expectations were too high and if you’re expecting the original trilogy, you’ll probably come away disappointed. In short, I loved many elements of The Force Awakens, felt indifferent to some things and disliked several elements. To say more would ruin the experience. I still don’t know what to rate “The Force Awakens”, but it was good. Very good.

Yes, I thought Rey and Poe were great. I didn't actually have a problem with Finn. I thought he was very good. A little different to what we're used to, but nothing that suggested Disney TV to me. I too was very upset when they killed who they killed. I guess it was inevitable sooner or later. And Snoke? I didn't like him at first, more because of his scale, but then we see more of 'him' and how they revealed him made some sense. I was baffled by the tentacle creatures, they looked really fake. I think I prefer The Force Awakens to A New Hope, but not to the other two Star Wars films. I'm definitely going to watch it again. Soon.

Okay that right there, that broke canon. Everybody knows Chewie died at the start of the New Jedi Order series. Has nobody at Disney read the books?

It wasn't my favorite Star Wars movie, but it was good. I did like Rey's character a lot and am excited to see who her parents are. I think she is Luke's since Lea and Han seemed to recognize her but didn't claim her as their own. The one thing that was missing was the great music for when the bad guy came on the scene. Darth Vader had it and so did Darth Maul. Why couldn't Kylo Ren have something cool like that when he entered the scene? I like how the movie went away from dancing jedi when they fought. I felt it was too acrobatic in the prequels and half the time they were just hitting light sabers just to hit them. I didn't like how Rey, without any training, was able to beat someone who had some training in the force. I think this is why I believe she is Luke's daughter.

The Empire Strikes Back was still my favorite Star Wars.

IMO it's the third best Star Wars movie after the original and Empire. But it was very predictable. I wrote my predictions a month in advance and guessed correctly that [SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY]:

There would be a new Death Star, it would be inside an ice planet, that Luke was in isolation, Han and Chewie were looking for the MF, Rey refuses to use the lightsaber at first, Han and Leia's child was the main villain, Rey has the force - not Fynn, and C3P0 and R2D2 make an appearance but only C3P0 is functional.

But I was wrong predicting that the new death star wouldn't be destroyed (I thought it would be way too similar to the original).

Gave the movie an 8/10 with a 10 being "Interstellar."

I'm preparing myself for a good battering with multiple lightsabers here, but I cheated and read the synopsis last night... I am utterly heartbroken.

Star Wars is very dear to my heart, as it was the first movie I ever saw in the theaters (and was a surprise from my Dad), and I guess I'm in the minority here in that Return of the Jedi reigns supreme in my heart as my favorite in the series.

Those awful prequels broke my heart (Darth Vader was such a mysterious character and they absolutely ruined him), and so I've been cautiously optimistic about this new movie. But you know what they say about curiosity and the cat... I don't have 9 lives but if I did, I used one of them last night.

I'm going to see it at some point, but will probably wait until it comes out on rental. I don't want to be out in public when I have a bit of a meltdown over the person who dies in the movie, as I will feel as if a part of my childhood was struck down right along with them.

What's wrong with Return of the Jedi? You meet the Ewoks, Luke comes into his own as a wielder of the Force, Luke gets his first taste of the Dark Side (no it wasn't with the Emperor - it was when he took down Jabba. Even Yoda commented on the way he let his emotions have too free a reign when he struck the hutt down.)

Only thing wrong with Return of the Jedi was the Ewoks chose C3P0 as their god. When Chewbacca was STANDING RIGHT THERE! How could they have overlooked someone so much like them and gone with the metal snob?

I read quite a few Star Wars: Extended Universe books, but that was back in the mid 90s. A lot has changed since then.

To be fair, Kylo Ren is an angry young adult who has some Force powers, yes, but seems very unbalanced. I'm not surprised that Rey could hold her own against him, for a time.

At first, I was really disappointed with Kylo Ren. But I went into the movie with the wrong attitude. I was expecting him to have the majesty and gravitas of Darth Vader and he didn't have that. In retrospect, as the movie continued and the truth unfolded, I realised a bit more why seemed like a petulant, angsty teenager with Force powers. Because it wasn't far from the truth (okay, so he was a bit older than that, but you get my meaning). Once I got my head around his character (or the little that was revealed here), I liked those scenes more and found his character refreshing, but familiar (like the fallen Anakin Skywalker, but done well).

I think the difficulty with something like Star Wars, is that you don't want the new movie to be the same as the original trilogy, but you kind of do want it to be the same. Also, you want it to be different, but not too different that it's no longer Star Wars. Talk about an incredibly difficult balance to strike! And while at times, it very much felt more like a reboot of the original trilogy (especially the first movie), that kind of made sense if you wanted to bridge Episodes 4, 5 and 6 to the future direction of Star Wars. Just my two cents.

I love the idea of Kylo Ren, but he looks way too "perfect." An unstable sith aspirant shouldn't have amazing hair lol. Maybe in Episode VIII he will start to look more rough.

I hated Kylo Ren...he just sucks! For those of you begging for spoilers...I hate him because he killed his own father, Han Solo. He was also too thin and strange looking. He didn't have that tough Darth 'look.' LOL I thought he was about 15 years old...

Also, did you all feel he looked like a teenage Severus Snape? Which is weird...because I totally love Snape!
