Looks don't really matter if you have other things you can offer to capture someone's attention. It's hard on-line because a winning personality, generosity, integrity and all those other really important things don't come across as well in a profile. But you can still be witty, show a sense of humor, be respectful, and snag attention by listing your interests, hobbies, or fascinating career choice.
I would definitely expect 100% honesty when reading a profile. I expect you to look like you do in your photos, have the job you said you had, live the way you stated that you lived. You don't want to attract just anyone's attention. You want to attract the RIGHT person's attention, and you can only do that by being who you really are, and seeing who accepts and enjoys that about you.
