I am.. The bible says NOTHING about "hyper" grace. It speaks ONLY of GRACE. Plain, pure, simple grace. So to debate about a nonexistent thing IS rather foolish and time-wasting, is it not?
The Klu Klux Klan isn't in the Bible either, but it's proven itself to be very real.

lol yea maybe we should clean more house . hey do you run a preschool ? I could use some pointers lol
Banning people helps sometimes, banning ip address helps more. However trolls will still make new accounts and find ways around the bann. Also some people really believe they are doing God's work so will still find ways to log back on.

Personally I don't think swinging the bann hammer more will solve everything.

I see a rabbit hole...how many will jump down it and how many will stay on topic, I wonder?

Technically, the KKK is indeed in the bible. Or at least, it's attributes are. Hate, jealousy, racism..The bible says zero zip nada about hyper grace..

The Klu Klux Klan isn't in the Bible either, but it's proven itself to be very real.

If more mods are needed to help keep the bdf under wraps I nominate Blue as mod:) However even with more mods the core issue is us, if we ourselves are not willing to make a change more mod's may help but it's like putting a band aid on the real issue.
Hopefully now we are more aware of how much we need to start acting better and will all put in the effort to make the change.

If you wade into the BDF and something gets you upset or offends you - that's your fault. You make an active choice to feel that way.

The reason for this is because the bdf is a very popular forum and we simply don't have near enough mod's to moderate it they are all volunteers but there are not very many of them. We would need at least three mods in the bdf alone that are considered mature enough to mod and not abuse their power and are also on cc all the time
:)IMO,that would be a game changer(so to speak).

I would have to disagree.

The responsibility for change isn't upon the mods and more external regulation.

It is upon each individual and accepting responsibility for our own actions and words.

I totally agree with most of your post here. I also wish it were that easy.

But what I left here I cannot agree with. I wish we could be self-regulating. But it wont happen.

Just like in school, when someone gets a little cocky, a little rambunctious, others will join him until the teacher catches the ringleader & makes an example of him. Then everything calms down.

I will be the first to say I'm one of those that got carried away with the rambunctious ones. I let my guard down, & I compromised my standards. It's easy to be rambunctious when surrounded by rambunctious characters.

Another reason I did was because I was beginning to quit caring. Things are getting worse all the time, & I finally began to give up, because "why bother, when there's no discipline? There's been several with multiple warnings (I have one), not just in the BDF either. But it seems only trolls are banned.

When I stayed in the chat rooms. we HAD to have someone banned every now & then..... really. Some nut would come in & would get banned. But..... when that happened, those on the borderline found their place & behaved.

We live by example, & when we don't, we have to be shown an example.

Oncefallen was definitely going in the right direction when he stated a handful of people is gonna have to be banned if it doesn't change.

The church has a corporate responsibility as well as a personal responsibility. But we need to be sorely reminded that not everybody here is a christian.

Ugly & Oncefallen is right..... judgment HAS to come, not may, not might have to.

You know what - I'm sick to death of seeing good people being set upon on the BDF. It would seem to me that no one feels the need to study, converse or debate anymore, it's all about "you're wrong and I'm right". If someone posts something they don't agree with it then resorts to their CHRISTIAN BROTHER or SISTER doing their utmost to "prove" them wrong or make them look foolish. I seriously think the BDF should be shut down.

Do not blame the mods for the bad behavior going on here. Saul tried that when he disobeyed God and blamed others for his disobedience ... didn't fly then and won't fly now.

To rationalize bad behavior and blame others does not result in change.

We all need to behave in a manner fitting to a child of God Almighty.
I believe he was simply saying that there are not enough mods to put out the fires. I didn't take him as blaming them. He did the job himself so he knows how hard it is.I doubt he would blame the mods.
Apologies to Stephen63 if I misread post #56.

To me, his statement that "not because everyone's bad, but because it's been left undone too long & the BDF's falling apart due to lack of governance" was a blame-shift tactic.

Some threads I read do have some bad behavior going on and no amount of governance by the moderators is going to change the bad behavior. Only God can do that within the heart of the believer who is submitted to Him.

To require more governance is pandering to the lawless:

1 Timothy 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient ...

Here in the US, we've got a lot of this going on. We've got laws that are ridiculous. If/when a believer speaks the truth of God's Word concerning sin, that is labeled hate speech.

Yep, we sure do live in interesting times.

Anyway … Stephen63, if I misread your post, apologies to you. :)

Uh uh!! No way.. I don't want to be a mod here. I'd be bald from pulling out my hair in frustration. LOL.. and my ban hammer would get much use..

I'm afraid not, just ministerial experience. But if you've served on committes or boards, you find out they're similar.:)

And yet - people still bring up the term "hyper-grace" in topics and posts despite the mods asking people not too...because of the bad behavior that ensues. I believe they will crack down on this.

It was good for awhile before some started using the term again and there wasn't the bad behavior which made it bearable in the threads.
It's nice to know you are innocent in the whole matter..... Perhaps you qualify to be one of the new mods?

I have 6,718 posts in the past seven years..... you have over 14,000 in the last 13 months.....

Somebody's been a busy boy. Not a rant, just a fact of observation, that's all. :)

So because he has more posts than you do, makes him better than you? Or "more busy"? Post counts have NOTHING to do with anything on this thread..

LOL! Do you really think I'd jump into left field in the middle of an important thread with Admins & Mods watching?

Read post #93..... the whole thing. Context is important. :)

1 Peter 3:8 - All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.
This is fine, but LOVE and TRUTH go hand in hand....none of us can chunk the truth so as to LOVE...it is impossible.......just saying....as long as you have interpretation and opinion there will be division nd contention to some extent.....some just say it, some are very subtle about it.............just saying

A lot of people do get banned temporary..for a day or week to cool down, but their punishment aren't posted and unless you are paying attention you might miss it.

Like God's judgment...many complain about God's long suffering of sinners, but eventually it is coming.

The mods aren't God so may make mistakes (therefore we need to forgive them as God does when they show their humaness) but I see their patience and long suffering as part of them displaying the mature fruit of having walked with the Holy spirit.

Everything that put's "christian" on it's name to promote christianity belongs to God. Whatever is done for God must be done "decently & in order". Failure to deal with this issue will only provoke God to act, for judgment begins at the household of God.

New American Standard Bible
1Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

I would suggest "doing something" before He does.
