So you believe, according to what Paul is saying there, if one don't repent of his sins, one can lose his salvation?
That would make his point in Romans 5:11-19 silly right? Was it really Christ obedience on the cross, or ours, that made us righteous?
Loose is an incorrect terminology.
You can NOT misplace your salvation.
You can neglect it, like the man who buried his coin.
You can abandon faith, and be cut off from the vine that is Christ.
You can Sin against the Spirit of Grace and become unforgivable.
You can become a partaker of the power of the kingdom to come and then fall away and crucify the son of God afresh and bring him to open shame and end up in a place where it is impossible to be renewed unto repentance.
But to just continue in the practice of lawlessness is just someone waiting to hear "Depart from me I never knew you"
Oh and you have to actually have it posses something to loose it.
Right now you only possess salvation past tense in Hope.
Hope assured by Gods faithfulness to his promises.
The seal of the Holy Spirit given as a down payment on that promise, but our part of the deal is to hold fast our faith and make use of what we have been given.
Everyone who has this hope in them purifies themselves just as He is pure.
If you have that down payment you are also working out your salvation with fear and trembling.
You are laying hold of that which Jesus laid hold of you for, that being the life of God in Christ that is eternal, Godliness.
Working out that deposit of the Spirit of God in Christ into our life and the lives of others to Gods glory.
Why fear and trembling? Good question.
Because you not only can be disqualified as the apostle was fearful and careful to not have happen to him.
But you can also suffer loss in regards to salvation, in regards who and what you will become in heaven.
For what the water of the Spirit does not purify of you the fire of God will burn and you will suffer loss yet be saved as through fire.
We will be saved, future tense, if we hold to our faith fast until the end.
Then we will possess it!
But as the word of God says conduct yourselves in fear during your stay here on this earth.
Or as Peter says Make your calling and election sure by testing yourself to make sure you are in the faith and not deceiving yourself.
For it is the righteous who are righteous.
