Heh.
I've often said that for a certain branch of my family tree, saving money is like an Olympic sport. Our conversations often revolve around the latest wheels and deals we've managed to stack, even if it's just for a couple of jars of spaghetti sauce (buy one free, with a coupon, on a cashback card, plus earning reward points for a discount at their gas station!) It's like a family past time.
Sure, I can find satin, flannel-lined pajama pants. But the REAL question is, can I get them at a decent price.
One of the GREAT things about the original blue pair I was yammering about is that I had gotten them at JCPenney, on sale, with a coupon, purchased on a cashback credit card so I'd get something like 2% back (after I pay the card in full so there's no interest.)
THAT is the real challenge I've found over the years. Sure, I could find other pairs, but at 2 and 3 X the price.
These days, when I'm at home, I just rely on a $9 pair of Walmart sweats.
No special sales or deals, but if I use my Walmart credit card and order them online, I still get 5% cash back.
And that's going to be MY contribution to the Christmas dinner conversation this year.
Don't say didn't give an advance warning.
