Seems to me that you're the one struggling with it. Sounds like something you should take to the Lord in prayer. I don't see how I've got anything to do with it.
Then why did you bring it up?

You assert that the gift of tongues is for all believers. So do people in your church practice that gift?
No I didn't. It's not a requirement to be saved. Scripture does say that we should desire the gifts though.

Gotta' go.

You're hedging. Even if his version isn't the same, that doesn't mean tongues have ceased. It just means he has false tongues.

Show us in the bible that shows all of it has ceased.
There isnt anything in the bible that says all of it has ceased. Coz all of it HASNT ceased.

Thats the point dude. I'm not saying spiritual gifts have ceased. I'm saying Apostolic miraculous events are not seen in the real world anymore when others claim that they are.

So the only thing left to do is prove that they are not seen, and to prove the difference between claimed miraculous events and the biblical kind.

So then the question is how do we know if a miracle is from God?

Lets take the miracle of tongues for starters.

Tell me how it went BIBLICALLY.

(we know the bible is from God and is truth)

Then we will test it against charismatic tongues.

The Bible says there were people from many nations and they spoke in those languages
Ok now that was a MIRACLE of tongues happening in Acts and in another coupla places.

We also know that scripture talks of the GIFT of tongues.

Tongues means earthly languages. So what is the gift of tongues biblically?

Ok.

So.

Crossfire says spiritual gifts haven't ceased.

Strangelove says spiritual gifts haven't ceased.

Strangelove draws a distinction between apostolic miracles and spiritual gifts.

But even IF there is a distinction, that doesn't mean tongues have ceased. There were plenty of non-apostles in corinth who spoke in tongues.

Strangelove can you show me the distinction you have between apostolic miraculous events and spiritual gifts?

Because if you believe spiritual gifts still exist..ie 1 corinthians 12 and 14, then I don't see where your disagreement with crossfire comes from.

Where did I say tongues have ceased?

Many people today have the gift of speaking many foreign languages.

My mum speaks Polish, English, Yiddish, Russian and Hebrew.

I think there is a clear difference between someone speaking a language they learned and someone speaking one by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Again you seem to be hedging.

What we see in the NT isn't just a case of well schooled people speaking other languages.

Strangelove on one hand you want to say tongues from the apostles was a miraculous gift from God. But then you turn around and make tongues out to be the ability to learn languages naturally like your 'grandma'.

Don't know if you're just jerking us around here or what.
