Why can't you have both?

I can chop down a tree for firewood if you like and force him to help me :)

If we are in covenant brother we must keep the funnies out of our houses :) but that is for everybody to decide. I am by no means perfect.

Before my son was born my wife and I went out to buy Christmas decorations. Gingerbread men and all these cool little ornaments but we watched a sermon explaining where Christmas came from and the next morning the decorations were in the bin. I know that Jesus will not associate himself with Christmas so to me it is not a big loss.

I think he meant to say HRM which is Hebrew Roots Movement which is part of their mode of operation according to the website below which is one reason why we seem to have so many on CC now.

Some sub-groups like to infiltrate by social media with trying to get Christians to go back to observing the Law of Moses.

Here is link that describes this group.

https://www.gotquestions.org/Hebrew-roots.html

One of the main sub-groups are a ministry called 119 Ministries.

Here is the link that describes them.

https://www.gotquestions.org/119-Ministries.html

Here is a small quote about their being active on social media..etc.

Quote:

119 Ministries is a Hebrew Roots organization primarily operating through their website. The group’s name is a reference to Psalm 119, which speaks in depth about following God’s Law. 119 Ministries is extremely active on social media and the internet, with smartphone apps and an extensive library of online teachings. DVDs, books, and videos are available as tools to promote their theology.

idk where we are in this thread lol

my family gets together dec 24th. before dinner, we pray together. after dinner, we may watch a movie or 2. then we open presents. dec 25th is a lazy day since we partied the night before lol.

we celebrate Jesus every single day. His birth, life, death, and resurrection. we put a little more emphases on said days because most of us are off from work so we're able to get together.

Do you do the noted pagan ritual of eating the ears of the chocolate rabbits first around resurrection time in the spring?

( the proper answer will determine where you will spend eternity... )

welllllllllllll, we don't do the traditional easter stuff (easter eggs, bunnies, etc). lol

I think the day has lost its luster. For those that don't believe in Christ, I don't really understand why they celebrate Christmas. It's like they'll gladly take the presents and the work/school time off, but not Jesus. It's evident with things such as Black Friday how society idolizes and celebrates this holiday for all the wrong reasons (not that we should be idolizing this date to begin with). Besides selected members of the family getting together each Christmas Eve at my grandmother's (which is still in its own way awkward), Christmas just isn't the same for me anymore.

Our Father will use what is not to bring down that which is. He will use what is base to bring down the exhaulted. He can do anything.

Although i do not see the materialism as any part of my remembering our Lord's birth, it is easy to see how Christmas will always be a reminder of Jesus Christ to all those non-believers who know of Christmas. It will always be a reminder that there is what is known to be salvation in the Child celebrated by so many on that day.

Do not think in terms of removing reminders for the non-believer.

Wow. I cannot believe someone did not call me out for using Xmas! You guys are slipping!

Allow me.. lol

How dare you use X in place of Christmas? Such utter blasphemy!! No cookies and milk for you on Christmas Eve.. :p lol

We used to write is as Xmas all the time. I think the X represents the cross, which is the international symbol for Christians.
