Do protestants have a reasonable non-Roman-Catholic explanation for John 20:22-23?

I guess that shows you've never kept livestock. The 2nd picture is what you will see with or without a shepherd. They're not being fed in the 1st picture, whereas in the 2nd thats what they're doing

OK, I put up another anology.





In 1969 there was the Woodstock music festival in NY state, when 400000 people attended.

Back then there was no big screen TV, no internet, no live broadcast on cell phones as we do today.

Some had to sit very far from the stage.
They could not see as clearly as those sitting in front of the performers. Surely those near the stage could see much better than anyone else. They could tell what dresses the performers were wearing, how they moved on stage.


Yet, those at hundred meters away were still participants of the festival though they saw and listened not as well as those near the stage.


Yes, there are over 40-45 thousands 'churches', yet there is one which was founded by Jesus himself. This one like those sitting right in front of the stage. This church sees more clearly than anyone else. Go to find this church which can tell you very detail about God.

There is nothing in John 20:23 indicating to me that Jesus was "giving authority" to the disciples to forgive sins committed against God. Elsewhere in scripture Jesus instructs His disciples that it is their duty to forgive sins against themselves, and warned them that there would be awful repercussions for disciples withholding forgiveness.


The pharisees were spiritually blind. I don't take their opinion that only God can forgive sins (Mark 2: 7 ) as Holy Spirit prophecy, because Jesus commanded his disciples to forgive others, something the Pharisees were saying is not possible for men to do.

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us. Yes, we can forgive trespasses against us, but we all have to answer to a higher being. The person who killed Charlie Kirk was forgiven by his wife, Erika Kirk. Does that mean that his sin has been erased? No, he still has to answer to a higher power. If humans have the ability to forgive and erase sin, we wouldn't need Jesus Christ. Also, we can't, with any effect, forgive the sins committed to other people. Only God can.

Not a very good analogy unless we want to discuss how Rome created its own culture and all the Woodstock attendees are the sheep of denomination Rome while the non-Rome don't attend the show. Not that one at least.
