If so, then He is no longer the same, yesterday, today and forever, that would mean He is a liar who can't take care of His own Scripture.
Can't be true.
Ummmmm.....no

It's under attack. I didn't say that the attacks were successful.

The modern Bibles today are just as accurate as possible. That doesn't mean that people choose to interpret them correctly.

God has preserved his Word very successfully.....and that's the miracle.

God has not changed. Not in the slightest. He is still untouchable.

Your meme could be an atheist response to the claims of cessationists that miracles were for the first century and the time prior to it.

If we accept the teachings of the scriptures, then God has empowered people to do miracles, many great miracles have been done, and the Spirit distributes the gift of the working of miracles as He wills. We should accept that much whether we see a miracle or not. Remember Thomas' attitude.

Well, the Scriptures teach that in this age we walk by faith, not by sight or from seeing one miracle to the next. (2 Cor. 5:7)
In this age the miracle God desires everyone to manifest is the power to love given via His Holy Spirit. (Eph. 3:16-19)

This is clear error. You are reading into the scriptures that they teach that the age of the physical supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit would continue until today. The scriptures do not teach this.

many great miracles have been done
This is a claim that can easily be proven if true but you cannot.

Your use of "have been done" is quite telling.

If these manifestations are still ongoing why not use "being done" and simply point to them?

Has anyone looked into Jane Leads writings?

Jane Lead - William Branham Historical Research https://share.google/UTiXUyqoRkBqadKtI

Historically traced, much of the Hyper Charasmatic church is influenced by her teachings, especially the NAR. These influences affect ideas including miracles and such, which is why I post this here:)

I'll paraphrase some of what she prophesied:

That there will be a total renewal by which the true church will shine by operating in signs and wonders,

Man made religion will be brought down, and the Holy Spirit will individually teach each true faithed Christian in Gods ways.

This will be the seal that separates the sheep/goats. The true church will operate in the Spirit.

She has a belief as well that the giftings though they had fallen away, would make a resurgence and would be the mark of a true believer.

The problem I see with her is that she got all of these propheys from "Gods wife" who's name is Sophia, she being the goddess of wisdom.

Wouldn't this imply that miracles/signs and wonders had ceased around the 1600's?

Also if the giftings needed a resurgence wouldnt that had meant they weren't being practiced?

I believe that the Holy Spirt still works today, and that miracles are possible and do happen. I also believe that the Holy spirit can and does give giftings.

I just also wonder what significance church history may have, like why were people not operating in these things and why did it take a pagan woman to shape the history of the Charasmatic movement? Which in essense brought much of the modern day sighns, wonders, prophesy/practices of giftings and what not.

How should we interpret the Bible? I do not always have the answer for this as we can all be lead stray by our own wants and desires. I thank God that he doesnt let us fall too far away. Context obviously is the main importance, but how much of history should shape our views?

Anyway, please if im wrong correct me. Also feel free to look for yourself regarding her writings, and the history leading up to the latter rain movment, early pentacostalism, and the other main charasmatic groups. and tell me what you find!:)

Maybe look up Smith Wigglesworth, John G Lake, William seymore, Oswald Chambers., Kenneth Hagin.
They are a few that I have found true and very charismatic.

If you want dirt, most any Baptist "you tube exposer" will gossip nonstop about how demonic us charismatics are.

I have been in 4 major revivals.
Traveled to them.

Awesome memories.
Awesome impartation.
We are overdue for the next one.

Jesus ministry and the apostles had miracles, signs and wonders practically everyday.

The testimony of Jesus to John's disciples were 100% miracles, signs and wonders.
IOW, the miracles, signs and wonders AUTHENTICATED Who he was.

Jesus said " THESE SIGNS SHALL FOLLOW THEM THAT BELIEVE"
Mark 16
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover

DO they follow you?
Are you a believer , holding Jesus standard to your walk?

I have most of them in my testimony.

I have believed in God and Jesus all of my life, but the only miracles I have experienced involved timing that could have been lucky coincidence including when I prayed for God to send me a soulmate and He did within a month. 😁

A word of caution. There is much that claims to be the Holy Spirit which is counterfeit. It is relatively easy to fake signs and wonders. Someone can speak out fine sounding words that are simply what they imagine in their minds. I've heard a demon speak, pretending to be a message in tongues. We need discernment. There is no need to fear. We do need to ask God to reveal the truth to us.

Agree

Some proponents seem to forget that the Holy Spirit is NOT Lord. His job is to empower us to witness to Jesus and the great salvation that He bought for us. This is the purpose of every spiritual gift and all revelation.

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity. He does nothing whatsoever that does not reveal or attest to God/Jesus. Perhaps study up on all that the Holy Spirit does. You might be pleasantly surprised

oh-darn-you-just.png

The excuse of "You just missed it, you should have been here yesterday" is getting rather old.

Presenting past events as evidence of supposedly ongoing events is absurd and willful blindness.

These baseless and silly claims are making a mockery of Christianity.

So the Bible is what then to you? Chock full of past events with some prophecy thrown in. But mostly past events.

You disagree that God has empowered people to do miracles? Do you think God did not empower Moses to split the Red Sea? Do you disagree with the idea that God empowered Peter to walk on water? That's a very strange thing to disagree with.

This is a Christian forum on the Bible. Posters here typically accept scripture as proof of a statement. If you do not believe that many great miracles have been done, maybe you should read the Bible.

It is very telling that I started off presenting a case we should all be able to agree on before moving a doctrinal point of I Corinthians 12.

Well, the Scriptures teach that in this age we walk by faith, not by sight or from seeing one miracle to the next. (2 Cor. 5:7)
In this age the miracle God desires everyone to manifest is the power to love given via His Holy Spirit. (Eph. 3:16-19)
II Corinthians 5:7 was written 'during an age' when miracles and supernatural healing were occurring by someone through whom supernatural acts were done, one who believed that gifts like healings and workings of miracles were given as the Spirit wills. Therefore interpreting 'walk by faith and not by sight' to preclude the occurrence of miracles is to read ideas into the verse that the author did not intend.

Ephesians 3:16-19 does not say anything against other teaching of scripture on the topic of miracles. Let's try to have sensible coherent arguments and use of scripture.

He is not capricious, what He does for one, He will do for another.
https://search.brave.com/search?q=capricious
I Corinthians 12 teaches that gifts are given to members of the body of Christ as the Spirit wills. If Peter walked on the Sea of Galilee, that doesn't mean all the rest of the 12 or all believers did. And if John was boiled in oil and survived, as tradition says, that doesn't mean all the apostles or all believers are to survive being boiled in oil.

I know of people still alive today due to miraculous healing.
Cessationism,in my view,is baseless. There is nothing God cannot do for his faithful. Or,to his enemies.

It seems quite frequent if late, people insisting God's power and knowledge has limits.

Peter, quoting Joel in Acts 2 says that in the last days God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh, your sons and daughters shall prophesy.... Those unfamiliar with it can look up the passage. So an outpouring of God's Spirit in the last day is Biblical.

And this woman believed in a last days outpouring of the Spirit. But you say that she had Gnostic beliefs about wisdom. So therefore, since her teachings were similar to Peter's in the book of Acts, would you reject Peter and the Book of Acts as Gnostic?

I hope not. But I see this sort of guilt-by-vague-association or not.

I am not familiar with this woman. I have heard of William Branham. Was he influential on Pentecostals and Charismatics? The Pentecostal movement existed before William Branham, and the Oneness movement had split off fairly early on (forcing the Assemblies of God to decide on a Trinitarian doctrinal statement which excluded the Oneness movement) before Branham came along.

There were also preachers praying for the sick in the 1800s. The laying on of hands for sickness was practiced already, a topic already taught in scripture. There were people prophesying, and there were healings before William Branham's crusades. Maybe his doing evangelistic meetings with healing started a new trend, but having such meetings isn't sinful or 'Gnostic.'

I haven't researched this woman, but I am just about as skeptical of a 'discernment' site as I am of fringe Charismatics because I see so much twisting of ideas on some of them. That being said, I am not familiar with this site. I do wonder if it is from the former Branhamite vlogger who I have seen criticize Branham and try to argue much of the Charismatic movement practices came from his influence. A lot of it is very loose guilt-by-association.

Most Pentecostals, if you ask them, haven't heard of William Branham, and while if he had gone to a particular town back in the post-war era, there might have been some Pentecostals there that went to a few meetings when he came to town, but there churches already existed, and it's not like he created their doctrine.

One of the videos said Christ for the Nation's personal prayer training, for praying for the sick and others originated with Branham. While I am not sure of his influence, I know of a preacher who died in the 1930's who had a kind of training for praying for the sick and praying with people. The vlogger said that doing this was taking over the role of the Holy Spirit and had no basis in scripture... but the general idea actually tracks very well with James 5-- an individual, who does not have to be an elder, can hear confession of sin, pray for that individual that he or she might be healed, pray effectually and fervently for another, seek to convert one who errs from the truth. This is all in line with James. Now, as for particulars with some of the trainings-- assuming spirits named after problems are behind problems, or the idea that demons can get into someone's life through 'pain', I'm sure there is room for criticism, but not all these one-on-one prayer counseling trainings have that, and they did not all originate with Branham either.

As for the idea that this woman was promoting a Gnostic deity called 'Sophia', I would definitely want to see the quote. Wisdom is personified as a woman in the book of Proverbs. I can see how a fault-finding person or an ignorant person could misinterpret commentary on that... and also how some individuals would assume guilt by association based on the loosest association (e.g. quoting a book) with someone who held to such a view. I did not find the evidence compelling, just in the footnotes and the text of the website evidence for accusing someone of holding to such a view. You might not want to repeat others' accusations against an individual if you do not see the evidence yourself lest you sin.

The Bible is many things but in the end the Bible is what it says it is.

And not what many want it to be.

In other words the Bible is truth. The truth of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

It should not be used to mock Christianity with absurd claims of ongoing physical supernatural manifestations.

If these events are happening today why are people pointing to pass events as evidence? This is the question I am posing this question to anyone who is attempting to prove the existence of a on-going event without simply pointing to the events themselves.

Are you one of them?

So it has to be live, not last week, to be evidence for you. You might not have been satisfied with the miracles going on in the first century with your criteria. Why would God have to jump through hoops for you?

Did you have to see Jesus rise from the dead to believe that?

What does the Bible have to do with your idea that God doesn't do supernatural things in this day and age? Could you show some scripture to back up this idea?

On the other hand, it can be understood as Paul realizing the age of miracles was going to end with the death of the apostles,
possibly because he was unable to heal himself.

Eph. 3:16-19 does indeed imply that love is more important than miracles and indeed most important--
and the more excellent eternal way per 1Cor. 13.

This argument is quite coherent and the best harmonization of Scripture that also jibes with current experience.

The thing is evidence is not how faith works, you only see the evidence based on if you can believe even without any evidence, the bible itself testifies that God is the same today as he was yesterday so if he healed the sick and cured the blind back then he does it today that is the simple fact of scripture never once does the bible say he will no longer do such things not even once so if it doesn't say that then why should we believe he still does not do these things today?

Even just a couple weeks ago I got to see healing done through prayer not for myself but for a dear friend so I know he still works in this way but I believed even before I got to see it for myself but the reason I got to see it was because I had faith and believed even though I had never seen it for myself before then

This was the first time I have seen a miracle but had I not had faith and believed then I never would have seen it for myself
