This is just plain rude. I'm not surprised though. Apparently you think you are more important than learning about the grace of God. If I could delete your post I would but I am going to just ignore your apparent consideration of yourself and your bad teaching as typical of what you do
Wow alrighty well I know not to try discuss with you , no hard feelings and God bless

Obey the commandments = life.
Key Perspectives on Obedience and Life:

Life and Prosperity:
Following God's commands is directly connected to a long, prosperous, and blessed life (Deuteronomy 5:33, Proverbs 3:1-2).

People in the camp died when they disobeyed..
That is true -----actually 3,000 people died for making an Idol out of the gold they had ----the man gathering fire wood on the Sabbath died as well ----these sins were presumptuous sins ---known as Capital Punishments sins that were committed by the some of the Israelite's in the wilderness -----required death ------

But all the rest of the Israelite's lived even though they all sinned and disobeyed God's commands did not die ------so disobedience to the laws did not always mean death to the person as if it did all the Israelite's would have died --------as they sinned constantly by disobeying God's Commands -----
So what is a Presumptive sin

A presumptuous sin in Scripture is a premeditated, willful act of disobedience committed with full knowledge that it violates God's law, often driven by arrogance or the assumption that mercy will cover the intentional sin. it is a conscious rebellion against God

What are ignorant and or Weakness sins -----

Ignorant or weakness sins are involuntary faults committed through a lack of knowledge (ignorance) or failure to resist temptation despite knowing better (weakness/frailty).
arising from human frailty rather than premeditated

I say -------Grace provides us with a New Holy Nature to resist our human frailty------which is our Old Sinful Nature -------
I believe believers should study and acquaint themselves with the Old Testament in order to better understand the New.
I agree with this ----the old Testament is Christ Concealed ----the New Testament is Christ Revealed

The blood of animals never forgave sin but the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
The Sacrificial Blood in the Old Testament covered sin for ! year -----then had to be repeated -----

All live is in the Blood --

In ancient Israel, blood was not only a metaphor or symbol for life; it was equivalent to life itself. In most occurrences where blood was shed in Scripture, it meant that life had ended. To remove the blood is to terminate life.

AI

"All life is in the blood" (Leviticus 17:11, 14) means blood is the animating essence, or "soul" (nephesh), of a living being rather than just a bodily fluid. In a biblical context, it symbolizes that blood represents life itself, making its shedding a matter of life and death, and its presence on the altar a substitute for human life in atonement for sin.

Blood belongs to God, representing the sanctity of life.

Atonement (Leviticus 17:11): Because blood represents life, it was designated by God as the means to make atonement (covering for sin) on the altar—life offered for life.

The Law gives us neither feet nor hands; grace bids us fly and gives us wings.
Gods grace that saves …..Teaches us to repent and do good

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

These things speak, and exhort,
and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:39-40,

When moses went up to the Mount God showed him a pattern of things that are in heaven a slain lamb , and it’s blood , an atoning sacrifice for the removal of sin a high priest who serves in a temple ect ect ect

everything Moses was shown was an imitation of what’s real a slain animal and it’s blood can’t remove sin it was only foretelling when Christ would shed his blood for the sins of the world

“For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:1, 3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The law spoke and showed a pattern of what Christ was coming to do later the animal blood could never remove sin .

When we read the ot things like this

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭17:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Should be considered knowing the gospel . Do you see how Moses was speaking of Christ ? Christian’s should hear

it is the blood ( of Christ ) that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

The ot was foretelling Christ and the gospel to come later a rough draft , an earthly copy of the things of God not the things themselves they are found in Christ and the gospel

For me the heart of the matter is being reconciled to God, and that in God's grace He removed the sin that separates man from God. Having been reconciled to God, His grace completes it's purpose, that as a dispensation of His grace He makes us His very children, born of Him.

Much love!

right and owrt of the process of his grace is accepting what it’s all about

He's not going to leave us where we were, that is certain! The more we cooperate with Him, the better off we are on all fronts.

Are you thinking the main thing in our salvation is that we may know God? And that our transformation that comes from knowing God is a byproduct of that relationship?

Much love!

The commandments had not been given yet. Maybe you should start your own thread about the law because this thread is not about the law

The rest of your post is not touching on the actual op so whatever

Just to let you know, trying to read with these combinations of large and small fonts hurts my eyes, so I tend to skip over parts that have this mixed formating. And all large fonts makes for too much contrast, again, hard on these eyes.

I'm not telling you to or not to post, just telling you about me.

Thanks for the reply, pinebeach. I think that I understood your point but probably didn't do a very good job of explaining mine.
I realize that you didn't mention law, but I did. I was trying to demonstrate that if faith is a requirement for salvation, then that makes faith also a law that must be satisfied, but no one can become saved by their satisfying of law.
I'm trying to think of a simpler way to explain it and hopefully will try again tomorrow. Basically, it is that there is nothing that could restrict someone from becoming saved if God had chosen that person to salvation - that everything comes as a result of salvation.
I know, off topic, sorry.

No. Faith is not a law. I've heard that before and seen debates in this very forum regarding the same. It almost sounds like you might lean towards Calvinism. You are a Christian....rigiht? How did you get there? Did faith somehow seem like a law at the time?
Glad to continue the conversation as you say tomorrow but actually today right now. ☺️

We cannot make ourselves righteous in His sight, only in Jesus Christ.

Paul's words are really plain for me, "not the righteousness that is of the Law, but the righteousness of God that is by faith".

I think we may benefit by examining ourselves with the question, Do I see God more as my judge, or as my Father?

Are we trying to draw close to the One Who loves us? Or are we trying to buy our way into His acceptance?

Much love!

God commands our belief, so in that way, yes, to believe is to obey. Nonetheless, if we allow the Bible to be what determines whether something is a law or not, the Bible never shows a "Law of Faith", and in fact contrasts faith and law, so no, faith is not a law, and believing is not a work.

Great post. Particularly the line about do we see God as a loving Father or a strict judge?

I know people have difficulty with the delineation between obedience and grace. It's all over this forum.

I've seen several threads in this forum wherein faith is actually considered a law....law as in commandment. And right, we do not find faith described as a law but interestingly, Abraham is declared righteous because of his faith/belief. I think we (anyone) might start to run into a little trouble if we become too philosophical (if that's the right word for getting stuck and start splitting hairs)

We could say he commands our belief for our own good. (cause we are a bunch of dumb bunnies)

There is also this: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1

Maybe getting into a sub topic about faith 'is it a law or a work' (as some have said) might not be the worst idea. But I don't want to get carried away on that...I don't own the forum but I am a bit of a stickler for trying to stay on topic. sigh I like resolution

Well my thinking is usually based on what he said in the gospel about salvation

So for instance

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

i think that what Jesus our savior said right there , makes what he’s saying important to a believers salvation.

to be clear I’m not saying this is a more important aspect than other thing he said about salvation I’m saying I believe that’s important because Jesus said it concerning all creation , and promises salvation to those who receive it and warns of damnation for those who reject it.

that’s sort of how I try to learn things . I try to go find out everything I can about a subject in scriptire by reading the things the apostles were explaining in n thier epistles and let my understanding change as I learn new aspects of what really becomes pretty clear as we seek after it prayerfully in stidy and practice and asking to know ……

its just my own belief and how my belief operates . I don’t let one point erase the rest if I had to choose a “ most important thing to our salvation , ot would of course be the lord Jesus coming freely into the world living among us and suffering and dying not for any sin he committed because he didn’t but for our mistakes and t failures and addictions and shortcomings and flat out rebellion at times …..and then rising up again the third day ascending into heaven where he intercedes for believers now then and forever ……

Wow alrighty well I know not to try discuss with you , no hard feelings and God bless

You were all over the place and changing the op to become something about forgiveness between people You could be honest about what you did. Would be nice instead of trying to make me seem like the grinch. I'm no stranger as to how you post and take the op of someone way off course. smh

Right. I went into detail on that in my post 26

My concern is those who try to say that if you simply 'believe' that means you also think you are free to sin. Nothing of the sort at all yet people continue along those lines as you prob experienced in the commandments thread.

I don't know why it seems so hard for some to grasp that faith should be in God and not our own efforts and instead conclude that means believers who are of that understanding, continue to sin. I don't think it's my job to convince someone of what scripture plainly states. A person can only present scripture; it's the work of the Holy Spirit to do that.

Yes, and even more precisely saving faith loves God/Jesus as Lord (Creator, Savior, Judge).

Amen!

Putting what we've learned into practice is key to learning more.

Hebrews 5:12-14 KJV
12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13) For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14) But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 LITV
17) And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18) But we all with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Spirit.

Seeing God reflected in us changes us into that same image. When we act like Him, when we look like Him, it makes us like Him, because we learn of Him in a deeper way.

Much love!
