How not?

The Old Testament was received by the Church as a revelation preparatory for the coming of the Savior, the New Testament is the work of the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit.
when you can actually prove by legitimate historical methods that -your denomination- is the church that wrote the new testament...then get back to us...

and by 'legitimate historical methods' i mean that you are going to need present a lot more than just 'my church says so'

Actually, the discussion is not a matter of Church Tradition vs. Scriputre. The stake of the thread title is very big. It all ends to "do we believe that God is holy?". From the answers in this thread...most people don't.
actually from the answers in this thread it is clear that most of us believe that -God alone- is holy...

you on the other hand believe that God is holy...and mary is holy...and peter is holy...and constantine is holy...and john chrysostom is holy...and the church of the sepulchre is holy...and icons are holy...and so on...

So...instead we will trust which of the over 50,000 denominations? Or should we be part of the thousands of non-denominational churches?

Nope, I think I 'll stick with the Mother Church.

You will stick with it? You have not found it yet. Your to busy following a pagan church to find the church of God.

Gods church is not s denomination. it is a group of people who are adopted by him through the blood of Christ,

When we get to Heaven, this entire argument will finally be moot. That's my only solace in arguing with anti-Catholics.

yep it will

the difference is, we will not say I told you so. We will be to busy looking to our savior who saved us, with the full knowledge of how totally sinful and undeserving we are than to worry about what particuar groups of churches happen to be there with us.

Got it all figured out don't you? The guy in question is busy with following the Lord. I am sure that he can afford to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to say a prayer for you. The first head of the Catholic Church was Peter, one of the twelve. This is in the bible. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and surmise that somehow the significance of this was lost on you.

He can pray for me all he wants. God does not hear him, Until he repents and holds Christ up and holds the words of God up, and not his man made doctrines. He will not know God.

Peter would reject the pope. and all his man made doctrines.

But hey, if you want to follow men. Feel free. it is a free world. God will not force anyone to follow his truth.

Wrong Peter was not the first Pope, he never went to Rome, Paul did. Peter was never referred to in the bible as the head of the church. Jesus is the head and has no earthly replacement, He can appear on Earth if He wants to as He did to Paul.

If I may butt in here...lol

You must love and worship God alone through his son Jesus.
Jesus is the only way, there is no other way to God, there is no other way to be saved.
the Holy Spirit is the one the power comes from, for he is the very spirit of God incorruptible.

Everything else is idolatry, statues, beads crosses...and the like if you feel you can talk to God with these items, without Jesus.

i am not saying you can't wear crosses, just...don't go over bored worshipping them..

Your last sentence is the only one that makes sense. The rest is complete nonsense.

Paul did go to Rome to be crucified but not as the pope because he considered himself the least of the disciples. Jesus said to Peter that upon this rock (Peter) He will build His church and nothing shall prevail against it. This sounds definitive in my estimation. Going to Rome has nothing to do with it.

But if you look at the bible, it was Paul that laid the foundations of the church for the gentiles. Peter's ministry was to the Jews and at one point Paul had to straighten Peter out, Because Peter ate with the gentiles but when his buddies showed up he would not.

I concede that you know more about this subject than I do. I appreciate that you were not obnoxious in your reply.

AMEN and I agree...Peter was not the first pope and or progenitor of the Universal Heretical False Church and he was crucified in Rome.....

The Catholic heresy was started some three hundred years after Peter's death and if those who propagate Peter as the first non-existent pope I suggest a honest evaluation of history instead of blind bias!

In Matthew 18 Jesus said He shall build His Church (future tense), so I don't believe His Church started until Pentecost. The Jews were entrusted with the Scriptures, long before East or West.
I agree. In fact, I stated the same thing when I said that the New Testament is the work of the Church guided by the Holy Spirit (which the apostles received on the Day of the Pentecost).

Bible says Mary had sex with Joseph
this blows away all catholic religion
Babylon is over.

Mat 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:
When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph,
before they came together,
she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

All that says is that they still had not had sex. It does not imply that they later had sex.

I am in agreement with you. Rice Krispie marshmallow treats are the best. I have found that the mini-marshmallow variety leads to smooth blending of the other vital ingredients. There will be none wasted I can assure you.

That's exactly what I believe. The god of the westerners is a distant god, a god that came on earth, did what he had to do and went back in heaven. In the eastern christianity, God doesn't remain distant; He came on earth because He loved us and wanted to be closed to us, to unite with us, to raise us to His love and light. The fact that He united His divine nature with our human nature has important consequences on the entire cosmos. God came to make us holy, to sanctify us. He made us His church. That's what it means when St. Paul says that he is no longer living, but that it is Christ that lives in Himself: that he, St. Paul, became the temple of God. That is not a metaphor, but a reality. God sanctifies us because He is Holy and He is the only One that can do it. And He does it, because He loves His creation and wants to be in communion with us.
The first sanctified person is St. Mary. For us, she represents the destiny of the Church and of humanity: being in God and God in us.
