The other people in the room were angry with her for saying this, the deacon hadn't even heard this, she told him, I wash' paying enough attention to catch the reference, he opened a Bible, looked at it, and said "it really in there guys though I have no clue why I've never heard of this before, seems like something we should have in sermon almost every week.

So can't give you the reference, but this has been the story.

By the way, I saw the title of this post, and I wanted to come share something a lady told me, did not ask for the source of this, but she said it was "after the story of jesus before the last book in the Bible.

Supposedly, in this there is a story of two people who were put in front of judgement after jesus death, and they had been "pulled out of the fire and were charred by it,"

The enemy was certain they were going to receive condemn.

and their ruling was, "as they should, I see no reason to have them suffer more". There was complaint, and He said "I have ruled as I have ruled, no more should should these two suffer because they were in the fire, if they find there way out, I see no reason to put them back in if they were able to come to me, and aren't completely destroyed."

The enemy complained more, saying it made no sense to accept them if they could be burned by the flames of sin, the reply which He gave was "Not only is this a new ruling, but these people who came to me from the fire, will be honored as saviors in and of themselves amongst people in heaven as their ruling will apply to others, these two will have (some higher thing) in the kingdom of heaven for what they have done."

Thought this fit the topic of of the title of the thread, don't assume this woman was telling me and the church the truth this was in there until you find it and see it for yourselves, but if this really is in the Bible, it fits (has to be from somewhere).

In my opinion, the problem with that way of thinking - it teaches people to live any way they want.
They don't have to worry about lust, temptation, etc. It just doesn't matter, if you believe that line of thinking.
It is like saying, who cares what sin you do? Teach them that no sin is greater than God's ability to forgive.
it is madness to even present it that way. It encourages lawlessness.
Jesus has not left us as orphans. You cannot understand how one can do what is right and not do what is wrong if you take away those external "controls", because you do not understand that Jesus has come to be the living, indwelling, divine guiding directive of the Christians life. What the law was powerless to do God has done by sending to us His Son.

No, disciplemike, Grace provides a redemptive context in which to deal with sin.

Grace provides an atmosphere in which sin can be confessed to and the person prayed for to bring healing.

Law not only stirs up sinning (according to Scripture), but it pushes sin into the shadows, with believers wanting to keep sin hidden because of the condemnation that being honest about it would bring.

I like this quote regarding this issue:

. . . If you preach Law, Law, Law to the Church and people sin, it's the people's fault! 'Look! The pastor preached Law! They disobeyed the pastor.'

You preach Grace and the people sin, they'll say, 'It's that message Rob's preaching!'

People sin under Law; People sin under Grace.

If people sin under Law, the pastor looks good. If they sin under Grace, the pastor looks bad, so many pastors . . . pull back and preach a mixture to safeguard themselves.

People sin under Law. They're sinning under Law, you just don't know about it, but they're sinning under Law it's just hidden. People sin under Grace. But people who sin under Grace, are sinning in a place where there's an environment of safety where it can come out into the light and there's hope for restoration through a process. Amen?

People say, 'Oh, since this Grace message has caused a lot of trouble in our church. Caused a lot of trouble.' No, I've never heard someone say that to me personally, but, actually if you go up into your attic, and you climb up into the top attic and you haven't been up there for months, and you turn on your flashlight in the darkness and you see all the dust - 'Oh no! Look how much dust my flashlight's caused!' No, no, it was always there, it didn't CREATE it, it EXPOSED what's there.

You turn on Grace into the Church - undiluted, full Grace - and we're going to see all kinds of things, 'Oh no!' But Grace didn't cause it - it reveals it and brings it out into a redemptive context.

"go and sin no more"

I could go to seminary or research many philosophers to find out what this means, but there is really no need.

Well.

If you child misbehaves, surely you tell them not to do it again.
and you forgive them.
and if they are normal, they do it again ... and again ... and again
(and you know this, when telling them not to do it again)
so you keep on telling them not to do it again. Because you know what's best for them
... but despite having to repeat yourself, you keep on forgiving them
Right?

Why wouldn't God?

Knowing that you are not condemned releases the empowering grace to walk uprightly in this present world. We need to be cemented in our hearts and minds that we are not condemned in Christ which will release the other aspect of grace.

The religious law-based mindset says "Stop sinning and I won't condemn you".

This is the very opposite of Christ as can be seen in His time with the woman caught in adultery. The law demands - but the grace of Christ supplies! This is offensive to the religious law-based mindset.

Up until I was 9 years old, I lived in horribly dysfunctional circumstances where my siblings and I had to fight to survive. There was no discipline and therefore no boundaries. Our abusive father had split and our mother was an alcoholic and emotionally unavailable. When the four youngest of us were finally removed and placed in foster care, it was like being saved from hell and placed into heaven. The problem was, we were totally unfamiliar with proper behavior. We were like feral cats. :p

I thank God that our foster father was a Christian! He did not threaten us or lay any laws down for us. He would involve himself in our activities and keep a watchful eye out. Whenever we screwed up, (spoke a filthy word, were mean, lied, cheated, hit, ignored his instructions, etc.), he would remind us, "We don't do that." And he'd show us the right way.

His continual reminder that we were a part of him, that we belonged to him and that everything we did included him was the sweetest thing we had ever heard! And it slowly but surely became truth to us that he was in actuality our genuine father. That truth set us kids free! My father's love convinced us that we were 100% loved and approved of him no matter what we did! He made us love being like him! It was a joy to follow in his footsteps and to see our father smile at us! And whenever he introduced us to others, he never said "foster" children. He said MY children.

When the kids at school teased me about being a foster child, my father prepared me to answer this way: "My father chose me." I loved proclaiming that answer because I knew it was true!

The Lord our God is our eternal, loving father and that's how he conforms us into his spiritual image day by day. God doesn't demand that saints in Christ try to follow strict laws or to always feel threatened of separation or be afraid of harsh punishment. God reigns in his children, faithfully guides us like a gentle shepherd, and reminds us we are already ONE with him through Christ. God's love never fails!

If your eyes are on your outward man, if you're trying to appease God, trying to be acceptable when you're already accepted, you are walking in unbelief, walking in the flesh, and in your own understanding. If your eyes are on the Lord, if you believe he's reigning in you at this very moment, then you know Christ has indeed set you free. :D

Because the carnal mind
[is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

When you know you are a saint in Christ, you walk like Christ. You only screw up when you forget who you are in Christ.

Love, love, love this! Yes! My spirit, mind, and heart leap with joy that God provided in such a way for you and your siblings \○/!

"We don't do that." This phrase has been used many times in our home, as well - it's not us parents requiring this and that, but we as a family walking through this life together.

Bringing this back to Law and Grace, the letter to the Hebrews makes clear in chapters 5 and 6 that maturity is the goal, and that Law is the milk and the Gospel is the meat! Being trained up in righteousness is a matter of understanding who we are in Christ and His righteousness - and learning to walk as who we are in Him!

Your foster dad was very good at reshaping your identity - not with law, but with grace - and taught you - over time - to say no to ungodliness, because, WE don't do that, not 'thou shalt not'.

God is an ever present help for us - when we do good, when we do bad, we are to come with boldness and confidence to His throne of Grace so that we can find help in our times of need (Heb. 4).

He doesn't point us to the Law, He points us to Him!

do you not understand that only JESUS can forgive your sins?

all your effort at law keeping makes you an underachiever

you cannot do better than the Son of God!

you know, over in one of your other threads, you state that some things are hard to understand and I told you that they are not hard to understand unless you are following a spirit that is not the Spirit of the Living God

Paul REBUKED Peter PUBLICLY for trying to make new GENTILE converts follow the OLD covenants with Israel

we have all been publicly rebuking YOU in these forums as well because you preach another gospel Mike...you do NOT preach that Christ died once for all

that, is what is actually dangerous should anyone else decide to convert to your faux Judaism

to change what the Messiah said to one's own words, which totally transforms what He said, is dangerous.
I don't care how smart you are.
This is not wise.
keep rebuking sister.

When you finally come to Christ disciplemike - you will find out exactly what Christ did for us on the cross to the ascension to the right hand of the Father and He changed us from sinners to saints.

Perhaps this is why you are continually pushing Christians to desert Christ to go back to the law of Moses because you have no idea really about the gospel of the grace of Christ yet and so you diminish it down to a bunch of rules keeping from a dead and obsolete covenant.

No one here is going to fall for your anti-Christ religion here. We are not going to desert our Lord. We belong to Him now - we are one with Him in our Spirit. As Jesus is - so are we in this world.
