It's kinda interesting how both male and female sexuality are often viewed as "dirty", but for different reasons.
Male sexuality is dirty because it's seen as predatory.
Female sexuality is seen as dirty because once women experience it for the first time, they are sometimes seen as having been "sullied" by a man.
It's the narrower version of the wider notion of "men act; women are acted upon". Which is damaging to both sexes because it sees women as having no agency and as being helpless victims, and it sees men as being aggressive predators.
I believe that's why there are so many heated discussions concerning whether it's acceptable for a man to want a virgin woman.
For the record, I'm saving myself for marriage because that's important to me too.

That's why we need to challenge misogynistic thinking.It feeds into what is known as "rape culture."
It's also why the gospel needs to be fleshed out with more clarity in our pulpits regarding sex/sexual temptation/sexual sin.
It's like virginity is the holy grail in evangelical culture and it doesn't help when the abhorrent double standard infiltrates the church.It is my hope that with all these new challenges in culture regarding gender identity and so called ," marriage equality" - the church will really have to get back affirming the dignity and worth of both genders.
Hopefully when it gets hot in the kitchen - ie. professing christians actually having to take a stand on these issues - the tares will (who pollute the church and sully Gods name) will be forced out - along with their double standards!
