No. Long and short, just as a Christian who is mature enough to understand sin ( all saved because that's inherant in salvation) can't make justification for sin, including any in their own life.

Now we can be pro-decency towards homosexuals: We shouldn't be theatening, physically harming or mocking them any more than we would do the same to say a drug addict or such. But treating people as The Christ would have us treat them is very different from compromising God's truth. After all, Jesus ate with the sinners and preached to them but he didn't stick around to say 'hey, it doesn't matter in the end because ...you know, whatever".

I agree, though I feel the need to say there isnt an epidemic of Christians going out and harming those who live this life that I know of : p Just standing with the word of God that it is wrong.

Right. It's a small, vocal minority that are to blame. And even then, much of it seems to be media propaganda at work.

We do live in an age where disagreeing=hate, so I guess it makes sense that the world would want to try to make it seem like Christians are on the attack : p

Divorce is high among Christians. No politicians speak out against it. Not many Christians in general speak out against it, because divorce is actually the highest among evangelical Christians. The only reason I bring this up is that many heterosexual Christians don't speak out against heterosexual marital and sexual sins, but have no issues ranting about the sin of homosexuality. This is why many people who are not believers look at Christians as cherry picking the Bible. It's just an observation. If I do see someone struggling in sin, I'll share my faith experience, and the love of Jesus, and how He changes lives. Maybe we all have a different style, and we have to meet people where they are in their lives.
You know I have heard that statistic about the divorce rate being high among Christians, but actually that statistic does not tell the whole story and is actually wrong. There was a recent article in Alliance Life, a Christian magazine where a Christian statistician examined the common statistics that get mentioned by pastors, in sermons, etc and a lot of them were not facts but were actually myths and the author of the article even published a book about the problem of incorrect statistics with a very long name. His name is Warren Bird and the article can be found on the Alliance Life section of the Christian and Missionary Alliance website. I forget the name of the book, but it should be interesting reading if I ever get it. Just wanted to mention that. God bless. :)

Yes, and while the world makes it seem like Christians are on the attack, the overall tone of the media and the world have been to attack morality and born again believers.

Not just mentioning that the Lord who created us says that it is an abomination,... asking a Priest or Clergy member to sin and be Hypocritical of their Doctrine they Preach to bless something sinful is just... wrong.

First off, If you are going to say something is False you better be crystal clear....
1 John 4.8-21

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. [SUP]8 [/SUP]The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. [SUP]9 [/SUP]By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. [SUP]10 [/SUP]In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. [SUP]12 [/SUP]No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. [SUP]13 [/SUP]By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. [SUP]14 [/SUP]We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

[SUP]15 [/SUP]Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. [SUP]16 [/SUP]We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. [SUP]17 [/SUP]By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. [SUP]18 [/SUP]There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. [SUP]19 [/SUP]We love, because He first loved us. [SUP]20 [/SUP]If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. [SUP]21 [/SUP]And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

The NT speaks of Jesus as the only righteous judge and not God.

Jesus said so himself all over the Gospels, notably in John 5

Paul confirms this to us in Acts 17.30-31
[SUP]30 [/SUP]Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, [SUP]31 [/SUP]because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

Didn't say God wasn't love, I said we need to balance that with the fact that He is also the perfect judge. Balance is what I was speaking about.

Using Charisma news to defend yourself is like using a screen door on a submarine....
Can you send me a list of approved sites and magazines so I dont step outside the line. Making a point does not,as I said in another thread, mean I support the entirety of what a site believes.

Kaylagirl is being crystal clear, it is sadly you who is confused. She is not denying that God is love, but that is not all he is. God is a Righteous Judge, full of holy wrath, our advocate (defense attorney), the Lamb, the Lion of Judah, etc. Jesus is God and that is why He is the righteous judge. In the New Testament, he never claims to not be God. He even says a lot of I Ams which ticked off the Jewish authorities and others. He said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" in John 14:6. He even calls God his Father, something that no mere Jew would call God. In Revelation he says "I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End" in Revelation 21:6 and Revelation 22:13. When Jesus was baptized by John (the Baptist and not the other one), God the Father says, " this is my Son whom I love, with him I am well pleased" and even before that the Holy Spirit like a dove alights on him in Matthew 3:16-17. Another passage Jesus asks the disciples who do they say he is, some of them give the answers of the day, that he is Elijah, Moses, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. Jesus then asks Peter who does he say Jesus is and this is Peter's response in Matthew 16:16-17 and Jesus' response to his answer: "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven."

Also, in Acts 17:30-31, It is talking about God the Father and Jesus judging the world. Notice it says He (God) has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man (Jesus Christ) whom he has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him (Jesus) from the dead. I am wondering if you are a Jehovah's Witness or are selectively reading your Bible.

Finally, Kaylagirl is allowed to use an article from Charisma News to support the biblical position, she is not defending herself, she is defending what the Bible says and not what the world says. God bless. Have a beautiful day. :)

Thank you brother for backing me up. You've been here long enough to know where Im coming from,I appreciate it.

Do you have Kids yet? If you do or don't think about this..........

I do have kid so I can say this. As a Father I have gotten very upset and angry at my daughter at times. I have even let my wrath over something she did be shown....but my love for her never fails and never stops....the same is True of God the Father towards sinner and saint....

Ya,no one said that isn't true. No one said God doesn't love the sinner.

Quite correct and he loves them all the way to the Lake of Fire...His judgements and hatred of SIN is not the debate....someone stating GOD is not love all the time and to say so is false teaching is the debate. If she rushed to answer that's fine, but I am not going to let someone sit here and tell people that GOD IS NOT LOVE, despite the fact he hates sin and will judge it with righteous judgement.

I already used an example of a human Father with his own kids...to which not one of you even cared about.

I am done on this thread.

Once again I said we cannot say God IS ONLY ALL LOVE. I didn't say God wasn't love so do not put words in my mouth, thank you. God is ALSO the righteous judge. He is BOTH at one time. Never did I say God was not love. So lets move on from there.

This is true, but I believe that once people feel the love of Jesus, they will understand why certain acts are sinful. I think that many try to tell people who are not believers that they are sinning, and the message of hope and love is lost. Jesus came to people in love, and also told them to 'go and sin no more.' But, He wasn't in the habit of merely chastising or rebuking, He was in the habit of building relationships with those He wanted to bring to Him. Likewise, we are to not merely chastise, and speak out against sin, we are to be the Light of Christ for those to see, and they too will want to know that Light. It's in that relationship and in that Light, that people's hearts change. This is how I see it. You can witness however you wish, we all have our own style I guess.
We have a guide as to how to witness to the lost. Its called the gospel. People do not understand what Christ did until they understand why he did it. They need to know that God is sovereign and holy. They need to understand that he sent himself in the flesh to fulfill the law because we are wicked and he isnt. We cannot be in the presence of YAH without the blood of Jesus on our lives ie born again in Christ. We cannot be righteous on our own merit and thats why he atoned for our sins.

The only people Christ built relationships with was his apostles. Christ sat with sinners to tell them about salvation. Right before Christ told the woman at the well to "go and sin no more" he told her she was guilty of living with many men. He pointed out HER SIN. Telling her the truth was loving! Christ didnt form relationships with sinners! He did not hang out with them. He was with sinners to do certain things such as perform miracles so that would believe and even then many did not believe! Peoples hearts change because God is literally dragging them into the kingdom! Sinners dont want to turn from their sinful lives. It takes a miracle from the Father! Developing relationships is not what the bible teaches to spread the good news. Your thinking about that was brought on by a steeple you attend. It wasnt God who taught you that! Telling the truth is not belittling a sinner but it is being real with them. If they dont want to hear it;they may at a later date. Thats up to God. Its your job to tell it to them straight up and not be fearful of rejection. Planting seed for the harvest is what we are called to do. We do not know how long that certain person may be on this earth. God may send us to witness and minister to a person because they are not going to be here for much longer! 150,000 people die daily!
2 Corinthians 6:2

for He says, "AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU, AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU." Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"--

Matthew Henry Commentary 2 Corinth 6:2
6:1-10 The gospel is a word of grace sounding in our ears. The gospel day is a day of salvation, the means of grace the means of salvation, the offers of the gospel the offers of salvation, and the present time the proper time to accept these offers. The morrow is none of ours: we know not what will be on the morrow, nor where we shall be. We now enjoy a day of grace; then let all be careful not to neglect it. Ministers of the gospel should look upon themselves as God's servants, and act in every thing suitably to that character. The apostle did so, by much patience in afflictions, by acting from good principles, and by due temper and behaviour. Believers, in this world, need the grace of God, to arm them against temptations, so as to bear the good report of men without pride; and so as to bear their reproaches with patience. They have nothing in themselves, but possess all things in Christ. Of such differences is a Christian's life made up, and through such a variety of conditions and reports, is our way to heaven; and we should be careful in all things to approve ourselves to God. The gospel, when faithfully preached, and fully received, betters the condition even of the poorest. They save what before they riotously spent, and diligently employ their time to useful purposes. They save and gain by religion, and thus are made rich, both for the world to come and for this, when compared with their sinful, profligate state, before they received the gospel.

the Q? is can a Christian be pro-gay Marriage ? I think that is not a real good Q>? a better one would be, If a Christian supports gay-Marriage does that Change Gods' Defintion of Marriage as HE said it should be? No it does not. A christian can support whatever he or she likes however, just because they do; Will NOT Change Gods' Mind one bit. Gen 2:24 One man one women .

If it a legal union, is it wrong to be neutral on the topic as a Christian? I feel neutral about it, I guess. I have two gay friends, and they actually are neutral about it. lol But, part of me feels that it's a secular matter, and is it so wrong for two consenting adults to wish to legally marry, even if of the same sex?
Neutrality doesn't exist, sister.

To those eleven who say that a mature Christian can support same-sex marriage that is not what the Bible says. Jesus makes it clear in Matthew and Mark that marriage is between one man and one woman (he was quoting from Genesis 2) and not what this culture, world, society, wants it to be. Always look to what the word says not what man and the world say it says. You are either Christians and are confused about this or you are not Christians at all and need to repent (change your mind), accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and sovereign Lord, that he died on the cross for your sins, and rose again on the third day and accept that the Bible is the word of God and is used for correcting as well as other things as said in 2 Timothy 3:16. God bless. Have a beautiful day! :)

Personally I don't support gay marriage. I have 2 friends of mine that got "married"...they were not Christian to my knowledge altho one was an altar boy in a Catholic church...what ever that means in real life.

I don't for a second think it's my "duty" to tell unbelieving homosexuals how they are supposed to live. They don't need to change their behavior...they need to hear the gospel.

For the "believers" that say it's ok to lead a gay lifestyle I would say that they have a "confused" identity and I would teach them the gospel as well. It's obvious by what they are doing that they don't know what happened to them when they came to Christ. I think the elders in their lives need to sit down with them and teach them the grace of Christ and in some cases to reprove them in this error.

This needs to be done under the direction of the Holy Spirit as He knows exactly what to do with each person individually. Sometimes people are caught up in sin and don't know how to address it and thus out of frustration they make "excuses" for it because of all their confusion. These need to be taught the truth of who they are in Christ - others may need to be " delivered over to satan for the destruction of the flesh"...this needs to be done by a "spiritual elder"...and seems to be a very rare case in the N.T.

The true grace of the gospel of Christ "teaches" us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live godly in this present age. The final answer to me is to preach Jesus to them.
...this needs to be done by a "spiritual elder - Amen.

Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?

There are a number of individuals within the Church that categorize themselves as evangelicals who are promoting gay marriage.

Many of them are younger Christians, and they tend to be gay or bisexual themselves. However, some churches, as we know, support gay marriage and even gay leadership within the church.

My position is that this is one of the issues which sort out true Christians and organizations that God is working through from those that are not true Christians and organizations that he is not working through. It is going to become plainer and plainer which people and organizations belong to Him and which people and organizations are in rebellion against Him, despite their claims.
Well I'm homosexual and Christian so I'd say yes Christians can support gay marriage.
