these are not pleasant topics.
I can imagine this thread will get out of hand quickly.
I don't enjoy being the bearer of bad news,
(nor the darts that will be thrown)
but,
It is a conversation we need to have.

ma'am, you are certainly welcome to express your opinion.
I guess I just question the status quo, as, in my opinion, we all should.
When the Bible says don't do something, and it looks like that is what we ARE doing, I have to investigate.
So here I am.

Looks can be deceiving.

Good news or bad news the only One Who teaches all accurately is the One Who is the Author of all.

It seems many ignore what He has taught us though He clearly invites us to learn from Him, Jesus.

He is not concerned with such things as how we express our Love as long as it is not in darkness.

No one in this age is prfect enough in his knowledge of the Word to dictate to any others how they must believe.

God has come to us in the way each of us needed, while we are all saved by Jesus Christ..

If I were so terrified of honoring Jesus one day a year commemorating His birth todie for me as to be afraid of a date on a
calendar, I would not be worthy of His Salvation. I cannot damn all my loved ones who have gone befoe me just because they acknowledged the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. I am merciful indeed, but never so merciful as is our God,.

Praise God every`day and any day; He is worthy, amen.

It seems odd to me that on the whole Christians celebrate their own birthdays and those of their friends but find reasons not to celebrate Christ's birthday. (my cousin was adopted as a small baby and her exact birthday is unknown. My aunt and uncle picked a date to be her official birthday and they celebrated every year on that day).I do realize that the 25th is probably not the actual day he was born. However, we don't know the exact date
Since the majority of the world ( apart from those in the Eastern Orthodox church) have chosen to observe this day and to celebrate Christ's birth, I don't see why this is such an issue for some. I understand the concern about pagan rituals. You can still observe Christmas without getting caught up in the secular aspect ( I'm not condemning presents or a tree). My favorite aspect of Christmas has always been the Christmas Carols and spiritual observance of the holiday. I don't see how that is wrong

All I can is wow! There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas as long as you know it has nothing to do with Santa or receiving presents. It's about taking one day a year celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ who later took beatings and died as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. Nothing wrong with that :)

If Christians celebrated Christs birth on March 25 Hallmark would be all over that. Commercializing is what the world does and we can partake in it or not. When I sit in church and hear "O Holy Night" sung, one of my favorite songs Im not thinking of anything but Jesus and how He came to earth. There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas,as you said. If someones conscience is bothered by it,they can abstain. When children put on a nativity play are they not learning about Jesus birth? For someone to say that is wrong,to me,is nonsense.

A couple years ago my husband and I saw a sign for a live nativity. So one chilly night we went to this church in the country. There was a little pathway lit beside the church and a small structure, like a small barn. We heard Christmas music and when we walked inside there were lambs, goats and a few ducks. Then the was a couple with a baby standing in front of a manger with young people dressed as wise men around them. I'll never forget it. It was hushed,no one was talking. It made that Holy night so real in that moment. I was so glad we went. Folks can celebrate,or not, how they wish on the 25th but I think thats something that should be kept private. No one is less a Christian or more for whatever they choose to do.

When it comes down to it the days or the week and the name of months are from pagan origins. But we still celebrate SUNday. And most Christians have Nike brand in their closets. I could go on but I think I made my point. I love carols too. Its a wonderful time of year.

amen to that, sir.

You know Mike I can understand where you are coming from. We should all be watchful of things the enemy can bring into our lives to steer us away from our walking with the Lord. What counts is what is in our heart and who we actually worship. I think the Christmas tradition is now more Christian than Pagan. We aren't worshiping other God's, holding evil rites and rituals to demonic forces.

I welcome you in my home at Christmas and you can share communion with us and share in the story of our Lord and Savior. We might even have a gift for you if you haven't been naughty all year, but you know what, we practice forgiveness and love to all people so yes you would get a gift no matter how naughty you were. God Bless

In reference to Christmas and other so-called "pagan" holidays, it is my opinion that it is HOW you celebrate that holiday that matters. In other words, if you put all your focus on getting the biggest tree, most beautiful ornaments and decorate your house to the point of nausea, lol, just to show off, then THAT is worshipping the holiday itself. BUT the word "Christmas" in Spanish means "more Christ", and who can't use more of Christ in their lives? :)

Same goes for Halloween, and any other holidays. Personally I see nothing wrong with giving presents, trick or treating, or stuffing yourself with turkey on Thanksgiving. This is JMO, so don't shoot the bug..lol
