The Armenian church celebrates the birth of Jesus on 6 Jan. Copts and many Eastern Orthodox celebrate it on 7 or 8 Jan.

I'm not sure why the fixation on 25 Dec. It seems if you're going to have a theory to explain something, you ought to at least account for all the facts.

Right.

We're not observing the day that Christ was born, we're celebrating THAT Christ was born!

the Galatians didn't go back to the Torah...they began to follow the traditions taught in judeaism maybe more should really study galatians from a historical point of view . Paul or any of the apostles NEVER taught against the Torah... anymore then our Savior did.... way too many continue to believe what man teaches them the word is saying rather then studying for themselves and see what it really says...

GALATIANS 2:14-16

We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners know that a man is not justified by observing the law (TORAH) , but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus so that we may be justified by faith and not by observing the law because by observing the law no man will be justified.

If I were you I would take your own advice and study the word starting with Galatians.

This is CC. No matter how obvious a piece of bait is, it can always grab some victims. This place is a wonderful little microcosm of human personality types. A Sociologist or a Behavioral Psychologist could make a career out of studying CC.

well I guess if you see it that way then surly that must be it..... wow what arrogance

There are already a bazillion threads on this topic. No need to re-hash it.

Merry Christmas!

I agree...I do the same thing....Do you like the rest of us supposedly pagans - eat the ears first on that chocolate bunny?.....:)

Lol I needed a good laugh tonight and that was it. But Im afraid to admit it (ears first) lest I be stoned or burned at the stake.

Well I for myself do not celebrate Easter, nor Christmas,... I cannot have a clear conscience going to church celebrating these days. After knowing the history and the practices of these pegan holidays it (for me) is disgusting to celebrate Christ then.
I take God very seriously when he tells us not to follow pegan rituals and practices (including christmas trees and coloured eggs)
like said, especially because of the history.
Its on the people to follow God or to follow man. I think its a topic to talk about in love with one another without attacks. I will not damn anyone for celebrating those days. I just think people have to know the history before they throw it into the trash as ''Ill just do it anyways, pegan or not''.

Make sure they actually were pagan rituals and practices before you condemn them. Also, there's nothing ungodly about celebrating Easter and Christmas. It's fine if it pricks your conscience, but make sure it's not superstition. And for goodness sakes, please do some proper research.

And really, can we get thru bashing Halloween before we move on to Xmas?

I don't follow pagan holidays, even if some of them started out that way. I know it is not likely that Jesus was born in winter- I can't see shepherds laying in the fields without snow suits, nor sheep grazing on grass underneath the snow. But I do know this, any day is a good day to celebrate Jesus Christ. They can call it Christmas if they want to, but Christians experience the joy of peace and giving and God's love all year round.
