I will answer according to your questions and I have responded in a color code to reflect what you have asked about:

1) I am not saying that we never sin anymore. I actually said the very opposite. There is a difference between "sin" and "sinning". Here is a post where that is talked about. Without understanding the difference - we get this sinless perfection in the flesh false doctrine that some people make up.

Here is the link for that :

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...have-dominion-over-us-christ.html#post2835447

2) This is where the problem is - the old man is definitely dead. We need to know this. This "sin nature" that you have given a title to is not in the scriptures. We only have one true nature and that is the one born of God - the new creation in Christ. What is left over in the flesh are the "ways and habits" that were part of the old man's way of getting life before we became new creations in Christ.

I have posted scriptures "proving" that the old man is dead so many times nut I will just leave this one for now.

Romans 6:5-6 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

[SUP]6 [/SUP] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

It is obvious you are not understanding what I am saying because I am the very opposite of legalistic. I am saying that whether you sin today or don't sin today - you are the righteousness of God in Christ. He makes you righteous.

3) "Living to ourselves" simply means walking by the spirit - which is the real us on the inside - the true nature which has been created in righteousness and holiness - the new creation in Christ. We are learning how to live by His life inside of us and thus there is no condemnation as we are learning to rely on Him and His life in us while we are in this body.

4) Identity is who you are in Christ. You are a child of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 is a description of unbelievers - yes.

Hebrews 6 has been addressed so many times now but here is a thread that deals specifically with this and the often mis-interpreted Heb. 10:26-29 scripture as well.

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/138679-hebrews-6-4-6-not-seems.html

If you see every warning scripture about living from the flesh as meaning that you don't go to heaven and go to hell instead then every Chrsitian is doomed because all of us live by the flesh to some degree or other.

5) The reason for understanding the Greek is because then it will be obvious that once we are in Christ we are sealed with Him forever. The Greek tenses prove this very thing.
Does it seem to you that I might not know the difference between SIN and SINS.
Someone said Moral Law is not a doctrine.
You're saying the Sin Nature is not in the bible.

Is the word TRINITY in the bible? Does it exist?
The Whole book of Romans speaks about the sin nature of man.
It's 50% of what ROMANS is talking about.

BTW, I don't go to links. I have my bible here and I've studied a lot. People that write articles have the goal to prove THEIR OWN point of view. I trust theologians much more.

Especially the EARLY CHURCH theologians who were not tainted by Calvin and the like.

Next time you read Romans, keep the concept of the sin nature in mind. We were born with the sin nature.
Romans 7:5
Romans 8:5-8

Let me ask you this:
WHY do you sin?

You may know the "sin nature" by another name:
inbred sin
the law of sin
a bent toward sinning
the carnal mind
an impure heart...

I think YOU would call It the old man.

So... if the old man is dead, why am I still sinning?

I agree with what you said about identity.

I don't agree with your next to last paragraph. It does NOT represent what I'm saying or mainline Christianity.

As far as going to threads to find out what Hebrews 6:4-6 means, I don't think so.
And you know how I feel about Greek.

I'm not sure it's very important for you and I to agree,
I just think it's important for those reading along.

Jesus said that nobody can take you out of His hand. That includes yourselves. If you are the elect of God.

"Be sure to make your calling an election sure" Do not doubt. If any of you lacks faith, ask the father who will give liberally without guilt or any strings attached.

Faith is a free gift from God. When we are faithless, He remains faithfull.

Then build yourselves up in the faith! In Jesus name, Amen.

Hallelujah, Praise God, Thank you, Lord!
In your "faithful" remark, you're referring to 2 Timothy 2:11-13

Could you please do an exegesis on these verses?

Thanks.

Fran..I already addressed in a former post your quotes from guys like Irenaeus who said that they stop being sons of God. That is a bunch of complete foolishness. Can you stop yourself from being a child of your father?

They are not scripture. They are opinions and some of them are people "reading" into the things they have said and saying it means - they go to hell now. It's a bunch of religious garbage.

All your points have been addressed by many people. You are free to believe whatever you want but I do not for a minute believe that Jesus is a liar. He said that He would never leave us nor forsake us and that the Holy Spirit is with us forever. No one can pluck them out of My hand nor My Father's hand. Did Jesus all of a sudden become a used car dealer and do a "bait and switch" on us with some fine print?

To water down the gospel because some are afraid they might do whatever they want is actually nullifying the very grace that they need to live by faith in what our Lord has done for them.

Yes, there are many warnings in scripture about living from the flesh and from not growing in grace and faith in what Christ has done. If you read all those to mean that we go to hell because of it - it is a bunch of nonsense and anti-Christ in it's very nature.

The teaching of people losing salvation as in not being with the Lord is without a doubt the #1 worst destructive false doctrine that the devil has ever put into the mind of man to nullify the very love and grace of God from operating in our lives. It undermines the whole "why" of the gospel in the first place.

If you do not hold on to the faith that Christ has brought us peace - then you will not experience that peace in this life. You will not experience the kingdom of God in your life in that area while on this earth. It will bring destruction in your life. When you die - do you go to hell now because of it? of course not.

I have not found one scripture that says we go to hell after we become a believer in Christ - sealed with the Holy spirit. NOT ONE!

There is not one scripture that says once you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and joined as one spirit with the Lord - that He leaves you. The whole thought is so anti-the gospel and anti-Christ - I can't fathom people even considering it to be really frank.

People can believe whatever they want about this subject but I for one do not believe the Lord Jesus Christ is a liar. I'm a believer and so I will continue to preach and teach the grace and love of God. It's the goodness of God that brings us to repentance.

The gospel ( which ironically means "good news" ) is the power of God for salvation.
Could you please tell me WHEN the concept of once saved Always saved began?

Thanks.

Just forget it Fran....you obviously don't know what I am talking about between "sin" ands "sinning" - if you are no even willing to see what is said about it - it's just a waste of time discussing this and it's ok.

If the old man is not dead - then you are still in your sins and Christ has not died on the cross yet or Paul is lying to us. He spoke about this many times. Gal.2:20, Col. 2:11, Romans 6:2-10, Gal. 6:14, Col. 3:3

If the old man is not crucified with Christ - then Christ Himself has not been crucified yet.

Notice Paul said "knowing this - that the old man is crucified with Him". I have shown this to you now about 5 times so I'm leaving this to be the last time as obviously you are not understanding it.

By a man called Jesus who redeemed us with His own blood. In Him we have redemption the forgiveness of sins. He also said to "Repent and believe the gospel".

John 3:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

As I have said now for about 5 times. The term once saved and always saved and the fact of one losing salvation as in not being joined to the Lord anymore is not talked about in scripture. They always talk about life.

They talk about things that nullify the grace of God from operating in our lives and one of the very worst demonically inspired one is the Christ will leave you and forsake you if you get wrong thoughts in your mind - despite the fact that you have a new heart and are a new creation - with a new spirit created in righteousness and holiness. Born of incorruptible seed - the word of God Himself.

I already asked you. If we go one question at a time it might be better.

Could you just assume I know some stuff. Like the difference between SIN and SINS (SINNING).
It would make the conversation go a lot quicker and farther.
I used to teach this stuff. so go right ahead and make believe I know about it.

WHY are we still sinning, if the old man is dead?

I really need to go. This is REALLY the last post!

So you say OSAS is not spoken of in the bible. Gee. MAYBE BECAUSE IT'S FALSE???

Did all those posts up there mean nothing to you? They are all about HOLDING FIRM TO OUR FAITH and NOT LOSING IT.

Here are some more. Please post some stuff that says I'm saved and have eternal life forever EVEN IF I DON'T BELIEVE IN CHRIST. I hope you really read these verses. In some forums, they come up automatically...

John 15:1
John 15:5
Romans 11:17-21
Romans 11:22
1 Corinthians 9:27
1 Corinthians 10:12
Colossians 1:21-23
Hebrews 3:12-14
Hebrews 6:4-6 IT MEANS WHAT IT SAYS... IF THEY FALL AWAY...
Philippians 3:7-11
Philippians 3:12
2 Peter 1:5-9
2 Peter 1:10
2 Peter 2:20-21
Ezekiel 18:24

There are PLENTY more if you're interested. I doubt it though. All these verses speak to how one must HOLD ON, NOT FALL AWAY, IF, BUT, etc.

God is Grace but He is also Justice.
Those who DO NOT believe in Jesus, will NOT make it.

Fran...the problem is that you don't know the difference between "sin" the noun and "sinning " the verb in the context Paul used it in Romans 6 and 7 - which is why I sent you that link to see what the difference is.

I know you might not want to watch this but perhaps others will want to know why sin now if the old man was crucified with Christ. Where does this sinning then originate from if we are a new creation in Christ? Good solid teaching always helps to see what truth is and our spirit will bear witness of this truth even if our minds don't quite "see" it yet.

Christians still sin because of the "flesh" and we have the law of sin in our bodies and our un-renewed minds. Here is a 6 minute short video about it.

[video=youtube;wYQxHB-U6NU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYQxHB-U6NU[/video]

Here is one that talks about "sin" the noun that is in our flesh.

All believers believe in Christ in their hearts - as I said - they may get their minds all screwed up from false teaching like this demonic one that the Lord forsakes you and leaves you.

Of course all those that have not been born-again will not "make it" as you say.

None of those verses say a believer that has been saved by grace through faith ever goes to hell. They will not experience the life that can be ours in this earth if we do not hold onto the promises of God with patience and thus see them come to manifest in our lives.

Just look up in the Greek saved by grace in Eph. 2:8 and you will see that it is a done deal - in a completed state with has continuous results in the present . It is called the perfect tense in the Greek - there is no equal to it in English. When a Greek person heard that tense being used - they knew exactly what that meant.

Jesus used the perfect tense in "It is finished".

I suppose we could use our human reasoning and say "What if Jesus didn't really mean it was finished - maybe it is only half finished? Maybe He meant it is finished only if we help Him to save us?

Whenever we use our own human reasoning to try to take away the plain text - we will nullify the very grace of God needed to manifest His life in us
.

Fran - I think this is a complete waste of time - you would have much better luck trying to convince me that Daffy Duck and Donald Duck are the 2 witnesses in the book of Revelation then to try to convince me that Jesus did not speak the truth and that He would never leave us nor forsake us. That the Holy Spirit will be in us forever. I'm a believer. I have repented and I believe the gospel just like Jesus said to do in Mark 1:15.

It is with the heart that man believes and has been created in righteousness and holiness. We are joined as one spirit with the Lord. Isaiah said ' And He shall bring in everlasting righteousness". And again "In righteousness you will be established."

True biblical belief is of the heart - not in the head or mind. God looks on the heart - man looks on the outward appearance.

Getting "saved" is simple.

Romans 10:9-10 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

[SUP]10 [/SUP] for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

The process is simple too.

1) we hear the message of Christ - the gospel of our salvation in Him

2) we believed the message from our hearts

3) we were sealed with the Holy Spirit ( Jesus said in John 14:16 that the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us forever - now was Jesus lying or is he like a "bait and switch" car salesman that has "fine print" which He doesn't talk about )

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, = 1) the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, = 2) you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, = 3)

you were sealed =
aorist indicative tense / passive voice = a one time event in the past.

Passive voice = the sealing was not done by us but by an outside force - the Holy Spirit Himself.

You will notice this teacher leaves out conviction of sin, understanding our need through repentance,
confession, followed by faith in the cross for the forgiveness of sin, and the power to walk in
righteousness.

This is the logical extension of their belief sin and a lack of love is not the cause of peoples rebellion
against God.

So this problem does not need to be resolved by a conscious assent to our fallen state.
All that remains is "believing" in Jesus, which is just buying a ticket to heaven.

This is the talisman version of Christian faith and not scriptural.

I wonder how the whole law of Moses and conviction of sin, and resolution through faith
in God and sacrifices in the temple can be disguarded so easily.

Only because the hatred against any form of legalism is so deep in them, that they
reject even that which God instituted.

Hi PeterJens

The bible is full of words telling us to keep the faith. If we have to keep the faith, that means the faith could be lost!
This seems so simple to me that it should not require any debating. However, debate we do.

Could you please tell me what "talisman" version of Christian faith is?
You've used this word before and I don't understand what you mean.

In any case, teaching that one CANNOT lose salvation is very Dangerous indeed.

The early theologians, or Fathers of the Church, BEGGED to follow the teachings of Christ.
Today, I read on these threads that they are frowned upon. The ones who KEPT CHRISTIANITY going for the first few hundred years.

Some have created their own version of Christianity, be it this Talisman, or whatever.
Chistianity should be what CHRIST said it should be, not Calvin or anyone else.

No one is frowning upon the early believers and have said that it is imperative to walk in faith in order to experience God's quality of life while on this earth. Losing one's faith for obtaining peace or any other promise in God in a situation does not equate to going to hell now.

Please do not put into other's mouth's what was not said just because they may disagree with an assumption made by some.

If any one in the past says that sons of God go to hell - they are wrong and how do you think the church went through the dark ages to begin with? People listened to the foolishness of their "theologians" of their time instead of believing the scriptures.

Not all the things everyone said in the past was wrong nor right too. We are growing in our knowledge of the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ is all in all and should be for all of us which is why we need to be preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have died and our life is hidden with Christ in God.

We need to be preaching the gospel of the love and grace of God in Christ so that we will have the proper nutrients to grow up in Him.

Hi Fran,

I used the word Talisman because for me it summarised what some are doing.
Their behaviour is just repentance and confession of sin are ignored, belief
in Christ is held as a way of being forgiven, without an open heart or being washed
and cleansed within, and they claim to be sealed by the Holy Spirit into eternity with
Christ without first bowing before the cross in sorrow and grief.

Now to me this is all junk, superficial superstition. One member once wondered could
Christ have died in some other place than earth etc. He wondered why with the court
setting of justice why Christ had to come as he did. It has convinced me these people
are not following our faith or spiritual experience, which is fine, except they claim the
same words and authority of scripture. They would also disown us, and call us anti-Christ
and apostate, which is an unusual experience.

So I used the word Talisman, an external claim to salvation without entering the Kingdom.
It has amazed me after over a year of interaction with them, how hard hearted they are,
and how dismissive of serious issues both in life and scripture they are ignoring.

I admire your perseverance, and faithfullness, sister, so Amen and God bless, Peter

?? How can you throw away a gift, You can try to hide it, but you can not destroy it. It is still yours. What you do with it, that is up to you, but it is still yours.

Well I could say a number of things regarding the wisdom of such a statement but it is presented wholly without any support from the scriptures so that is sufficient in and of itself.

Why would one desire to throw away their salvation? A creature with the new nature created by Christ could never even consider such a contradiction of reason and logic.

Why would Jesus be so capricious as to offer eternal life only to allow it to be lost? We seem to forget that we are bought with a price and Jesus now has deed to our life.

1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

To propose such as this, losing salvation, is to shame the very Lord that has bought them.

For the cause of Christ

Here is one that talks about "sin" the noun that is in our flesh.

Grace,
I watched the video.
What's interesting is that you said you didn't know the term "sin nature" when I spoke about it a few posts back.
The man in the video even said the words "sinful nature"!

He's calling it the flesh.
But we're not discussing the sin nature, or flesh, or whatever else you want to call it.
It's the evil within man that makes him tend toward doing evil instead of doing good.
Man is born with this tendency as a result the fall of man. SIN.
Sinning is what you do every day when you let God down. OK? Are you convinced I know the difference between the noun and the verb? Give me some credit!!

There are three positions regarding the sin nature, BTW,
I'm not going to do this here, but I'll say that I DO understand your position regardin our being a new man and having a new nature.

This doesn't mean I agree wth it. I believe the sin nature stays with us thourghout our life but it is put under submission when we become born again so that e TEND TO DO GOOD instead of bad.

You'd still have to explain WHY we still sin (commit sins) IF we have an entirely New Nature. You could say it's because we're in the "flesh", whatever you want to call it, flesh, sin nature, etc., WE ARE STILL SINNING. This is problematic.
But we're not here to disccuss that.

I think that's all I want to say. We could take verses one by one, but I don't see the point.

I do find it difficult to understand why the meaning of, say Colossians is not accepted by you.

Colossians 1:21-23 New International Version (NIV)

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[a] your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

The above has the complete salvation message.

1. You were alienated from God.
2. But now God has reconciled you through Christ.
3. To present you holy, without blemish and free from accusation in God's sight.
4. IF YOU CONTINUE IN YOUR FAITH, and do NOT MOVE from the hope held out in the gospel.

It seems so plain.

Perhaps you should examine the difference between salvation by grace and sanctification. Paul said he had a life long struggle against what his old nature wanted to do and what his new nature in Christ wanted to do.

Romans 7:14 ¶ For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 8:1 ¶ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Sanctification is a life long process. It has it's ups and downs but it is concluded when we die and are glorified together with our Savior who is Christ.
